Our friends the Libyans

Check out these disturbing stories from the New York Times and Wall Street Journal today on the continuing menace of Moammar Gadhafi. It appears Gadhafi was personally involved in organizing an alleged terrorist plot against the Saudi crown prince.

This is a mighty mess, what with shady American Muslim (and Saudi-subsidized!) activist Abdurahman Alamoudi in the middle of it. Alamoudi reportedly served as Libya’s bag man in the conspiracy to topple and destabilitize our Saudi, um, allies.

Suffice it to say, the enemy of an unacknowledged enemy is not our friend.

Meanwhile, the State Department in a press release less than three months ago crowed that “Libya has demonstrated that it is intent on opening a new chapter in relations with the United States and the rest of the world.”

New chapter, same old terrorist handbook.
