OBEDIENT & THIN BLOGGERS ONLY
Two bloggers–Bill at INDC Journal and John Tabin–report on their Democratic National Convention press credentials getting revoked by the supposedly blog-friendly Party of the Little People.
Some hapless DNC cogs explain the revocations by telling the bloggers that there is not enough “overall site capacity” to accomodate them.
Not enough space? Sounds like a phony excuse to me. The convention will be held at FleetCenter in Boston, a year-round, 19,600-seat arena, fully equipped with three private restaurants, 104 executive suites, and 2,400 club seats.
Unless Michael Moore will be blogging at the convention. In which case, I could see the DNC’s point…

I can’t honestly think of anything more nauseating than sitting through four days of Democratic Love Fest ‘04. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise to these guys.
Yeah, it’s a bummer for the rest of us. I’m not familiar with Tabin’s blog, but INDC Journal’s coverage would have been gold.
I live 25 miles north of Boston, and I got rejected as well… so much for their “blogger-friendly” facade.
Reading Bill and John’s accounts, seems they both got hardcopy snail mail invites, but the disinvites were electronic.
Since Bill already apparently already booked a flight and hotel, I’m thinking he should go ahead and go. John too.
Both of them should show up with hardcopy in hand, and news video crew in tow (Fox pops to mind for some reason).
Great exposure for bloggers/blogging. Plus, just think of the entertainment value of the DNC organizational buffoons doing a song and tapdance with the little red light on the camera for mood lighting.
Has all the ingredients of a classic - or at least a heck of a story for John and Bill to tell the grandkids some day.
Yes, bring a camera and go. Think about the reactions of the DNC officials who get to realize that they might just be on the recieving end of a Moore-style action.

I live and work in Boston and it is going to be so F$%63ked up it’s unbelievable. Our company has to be open and I have to commute in every day. They gave us instructions to run away if confronted by protesters, as if.
It is possible that by “site capacity” they meant WiFi access or some such.
But…
Bloggers could take notes and then post during meal breaks and nights, using connectors in their rooms.
And has anyone heard of a cancellation of an unabashedly “friendly” blogger?
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the purge was not purely ideological. My left-leaning blog was granted creds and then had them pulled shortly after.
I must disagree, it’s more a “lame” excuse than a phony one. A “phony” excuse would be something like “Ooops, we sort of destroyed the Preznit’s National Guard records a decade ago, but only decided to tell folks two weeks after AP brought suit to see them”.
Then there are completely laughable excuses. For that, see Scott McClellan
Considering that the DNC is paying the appearance fees for the bloggers (most media pay their own) and yes, there are conservative bloggers still going, I’d say you should retract.
Could you name the liberal bloggers the GOP is paying the fees for in NY?
Thersites -
What ae appearance fees? All they are providing are site access and access to work areas … oh, and “a breakfast.”
They just need to give the access.
And as for “conservative bloggers still going,” there’s ONE that they describe as a conservative blogger … nevermind he was invited after the purge for “space” reasons, and after questions were posed about ideological bias … and nevermind the fact that he’s a REGISTERED DEMOCRAT.
Considering this new information, maybe you should retract?
I also received “Hall” press credentials on July 3 and a disinvite on July 8. Its not a good way to conduct business.
