“HE WAS A GOOD PERSON”
It has become so cliche: The next-door neighbor murders his wife. The handsome jock is nabbed for serial rape/killings. The distant son hijacks a plane and drives it into a tall building. Somebody, somewhere, commits a deed of pure, naked evil, but there’s always an available idiot shaking his/her head and blubbering to a reporter, “Yeah, but he was such a good person.”
They said it about Ted Bundy and Mohammed Atta and Scott Peterson. And now, Genario Garcia:
A man doused his girlfriend and three small children with gasoline inside a car and set them on fire early Wednesday as he drove, authorities said. All five died after the car crashed in flames.
Residents reported hearing the crash and seeing two adults engulfed in flames, stumbling across a road near Bonny Lake, a small town east of Tacoma. Firefighters found the bodies of a 6-month-old boy, 1 1/2-year-old boy and 2 1/2-year-old girl in the back of the burned car.
Antigone Monique Allen, 18, who had recently filed an assault complaint against the 24-year-old man, survived for nearly eight hours at a Seattle hospital, sheriff’s Detective Ed Troyer said. She managed to tell investigators and family what happened before she died.
Laveda Allen said her sister had gone out the previous evening with her estranged boyfriend, identified as Genario Garcia.
Garcia snorted cocaine while they were out Tuesday night and the two began arguing, Laveda Allen said. Antigone – “Mona” to her family and friends – demanded that he take her home.
They stopped at a gas station, and, because she had been dozing, she didn’t notice right away that he had filled a container with gasoline and placed it in the back seat, Laveda Allen said.
They drove along back roads before Garcia pulled a gun and pointed it at Antigone Allen’s head. He grabbed the container and splashed gasoline on the children, Antigone and himself, Laveda Allen said.
He flicked a lighter and the car erupted, left the road and flipped over.
The two adults stumbled from the wreck, and Garcia, who had two guns with him, began shooting. Neighbors said he fired four or five shots. Troyer said an autopsy would be needed to determine whether any of the bullets hit Antigone Allen.
Lisa Hansen, who lives nearby, said she heard the crash and drove down the road to see if she could help. She and a friend of her sons heard a voice in the pasture screaming: “Help! Help! Help me, please!”
They saw the woman standing, with her shirt burned off, but Hansen could not get to her because an electrified horse fence was between them. According to Hansen, the woman was screaming in pain, saying, “He did it! He did this on purpose!”
Laveda Allen said doctors told her sister had burns over 85 percent of her body.
“She said she wanted to be with her babies. She wasn’t angry. She knew she was going to die, and she was willing to go, but she wanted to say bye,” she said.
Troyer said Allen had recently filed an assault complaint, and a deputy was assigned to the case, but the woman failed to follow through.
“They were in the process of getting back together or breaking up, off and on,” the detective said. The woman’s relatives indicated there had been “some unreported domestic violence,” Troyer said.
Laveda Allen said she wasn’t upset with Garcia, who she said was the father of her sister’s three children.“He was a good person,” she said. “He was an illegal immigrant here, but he was a hard worker and tried to do what he had to do to make it.
“He just went over the deep end. He probably just loved her too much. He didn’t want to see his kids being taken care of by another man.”
The family is planning to bury her and the three children on Saturday, which would have been Antigone Allen’s 19th birthday.
God help us.

Well, it’s technically true…he WAS a nice person.
Until he went batsh!t crazy…
And he just wanted a better life, and did the jobs no Americans would do….
Also, thank God for the Hispanic-activist-community imposed ban adopted by most local police that prevents cooperating with immigration, right?
Darn good thing the local PD didn’t report his butt to immigration – or after any encounteres they may have had with him after his assault.
Gotta protect that “community trust” with the “immigrant” community above all else, right?
Oh, and that comment that he was a “hard worker and tried to do what he had to make it? Isn’t that the illegal alien apologists mantra, that they just want to work, so leave them alone, ya heartless immigration bastards? It’s helping the economy. Hmm, cheap labor or importing crackpot murderers?
A fellow blogger (beautifulatrocities.com) had recently mentioned that your “comments” feature had been turned off, so I had to come and auschecken it for myself. In so doing it would appear as if it is working, so I shall make mention of it. Enjoying the blogs and NewsMax articles, as always.

Holy sh*t.
You know the world is in the gutter when somebody can watch their sister burned alive and say the perpetrator who lit the match “was a good person.”
Talk about lowering your standards.
It’s crazy, sad, and outrageous. The guy was doing coke? He had two guns, and the cops still didn’t deport him? What’s wrong with the women? “He loved her too much”? Boy I wouldn’t get very far if I decided to immolate and shoot all the people I love in my life. What a waste!
I discovered this blog yesterday and all I can say is It’s great.
g’day!
There’s no person more evil than a good guy turned bad…
Sadly, there’s usually PLENTY of evidence that a good guy is turning bad.
>The guy was doing coke? He had two guns, and the cops still didn’t deport him?
That’s what I mean.
Well, thats the same as saying Islam is a religion of peace.
I will wait to read you later in the day…….what an awful way to wake up.
Great post, really great , just not the first thing.
I hope there is a special level in hell for “good people” like him.
Freaking idiot.
Good people are good all the time and don’t do illegal drugs.
I can hardly wait for the Brady folks to blame the gun . . .
People don’t kill people, gasoline does! This is why the evil Bush wanted to invade peaceful Iraq and steal their oil! So we could set innocent “unregistered migrant workers” (it is demeaning to call them illegal aliens just because they are aliens that are here illegally) on fire! We must ban gasoline!
I can see why he’d be distraught at the thought of his young children not being able to witness their hard working Da-Da snorting coke (oops..cocaine..sorry Coca Cola Company)in front of them 24/7. The liberals will blame it on the drugs, rather than on the complete lack of character and values embodied by this worthless piece of human refuse. He had an obligation to humanity to suck the pipe in solitude, but he couldn’t even “off” himself correctly. It’s great to know that Lavenda Allen still exists to perpetuate this dysfunctional subset of the human gene pool. What an inspiring story! Glad Legal XXX steered me to your blog, though. You’re my kind of writer.
It’s called self-deception. It’s the same thing that makes parents say, “my kid wouldn’t (insert anything here)”.
“Antigone Monique Allen,” huh? Antigone is a character from Greek mythology. Polynices and Eteocles shared the throne of Thebes, but when Eteocles’ term was up he refused to step down. Polynices led a revolt in which both brothers died. The new king, Creon, decreed that Polynices’ body should be left unburied outside the wall of Thebes. Antigone, sister of both Polynices and Eteocles, defied the order and announced her intention to bury Polynices. Creon sentenced her to be buried alive but later changed his mind, but not until after Antigone had already hanged herself. Creon visited Antigone’s grave only to be attacked by her betrothed, his own son Haemon. Haemon killed his father and then took his own life. When Creon’s wife, Eurydice, heard the news, she killed herself.
Moral of the story: don’t name your kid after a character in a Greek play that makes “Kill Bill” look like Clifford the Big Red Dog.
(My spell-checker, incidentally, completely blew a gasket on this post.)
Makes you proud to be a human being. If it weren’t for our superior intelligence and moral character we would be nothing more than dumb animals.
I appoligize to the rest of the animal kingdom, that was out of line.
Generally, what people say in cases like this is that he (or she) SEEMED like such a nice or normal person. It’s pretty clear that he never was normal, nice, pretty nice, generally a good guy or a human being. He was an evil creature. Someone like Saddam or his sons but with fewer opportunities to express himself.
And this kind of thing, and the prevention of it, is the exact reason for the drug war, if you think on it. It all comes back down to the drug use.
And think on it; If the judgements of these people were so fouled up so as to label the perp a ‘good person’, has anyone checked the linings of their respective noses of late?
A horrible story for sure. Unfortunately, I don’t see a way to stop every last person who goes off the deep end from doing something like this … short of living in a police state, that is. In a nation of 300 million free people, the occasional crazy is going to slip through the cracks. It sucks but it’s inevitable.
There IS a solution, but only on the individual level: Don’t get involved with violent people, don’t get involved with people who abuse drugs, and don’t have three kids at 18 with an illegal immigrant. Be smart in your personal decisions.
The blame here lies mostly with this jackass who set his family on fire. Some also belongs to the mother – even though I know no one wants to hear that – for engaging in such risky behavior. Very little, if any, belongs to “the police” or “society” … but I’m sure we’ll see plenty leveled at them / us over this.
As for the “he was such a nice guy” thing, I think it’s just something people say so that they don’t have to say the truth: “He was a murderous drug addict and we’re all better off without him. It’s just too bad he did so much damage to others on his way out”.
When you don’t have anything nice to say there’s probably a reason for it. Better to keep your mouth shut entirely that spout dishonest platitudes.
S
We’ve come to a point where our society wants to see any evil act as a ’sickness.’ That allows people to:
1) remove the blame from the evil-act-doer because, after all, it’s not your fault when you get a disease (even when it really IS your fault…but that’s another issue all together), and
2) seperate the ‘evil act’ from the ‘person-as-a-whole.’ Look folks, a person who would do anything even remotely like this is NOT, in any way shape or form, a ‘good person,’ period. He’s obviously not on par with Saddam in terms of total number killed…but that hardly makes a bit a difference.
Evil is evil and we NEED to both recognize and admit when we witness it. To do otherwise is to condone the evil acts.
This is the first account I’ve read of the story that even mentioned that Garcia was an illegal. I don’t know if that was an intentional omission or not.
Good person = throws gasoline on your neices and nephews. Lights fire, burns and possibly shoots sister.
I would hate to see her description of a bad or evil person!
Stupid morons (sister and boyfriend)…
illegal immigration does not lead to murder, and this man’s immigrant status has nothing to do with the heinous crime he committed. as for the woman he killed, how about applauding her hard work in raising three children on her own? conservatives complain about abortion, call pro-choice people “baby-killers,” and don’t want insurance to cover birth control pills, but then demonize single women who have children. you don’t want to give us a way to prevent pregnancy (other than abstinence), and then you only care about “life” up until the moment of birth. single mothers should be viewed as heroes, not drains on society. we’re damned if we do and we’re damned if we don’t.
single mothers should be viewed as heroes, not drains on society.
Uhh, Jill, read the article and do the math. She had her first child at 15. That’s FIFTEEN. Then two more by the time she’s 18. Yes, dammit, abstinence works. It works for 15 year olds.
As for illegal immigrants, I think the point is that a large percentage of crime comes from that community, and they are both poorly protected by the police and poorly monitored by the police, all in the name of political correctness.
A lot of money is being spent on stopping Arab terrorists, but the truth is that you and your family are more likely to be killed or injured by illegal aliens than Arab terrorists.
I think something has been overlooked in these comments:
–Troyer said Allen had recently filed an assault complaint, and a deputy was assigned to the case, but the woman failed to follow through.–
Could this have been avoided with law enforcement intervention? Probably not, since she chose to spend more time with Garcia:
–Allen said her sister had gone out the previous evening with her estranged boyfriend, identified as Genario Garcia.–
Still I’d like to know more about why the Sheriff’s dept. didn’t ‘follow through’. Smells like possible confusion/parlay between police and family services, given the ages of the children and the mother. I’m not accusing, I’m just curious.
I always loved the article in The Onion “Serial Killer Remembered by Neighbors as ‘Serial Killer’”
Stephen, it’s true that you’re more likely to die of a lightning strike than to be killed by a Jihadist terrorist, but does that mean that we shouldn’t fight terrorism? Hell, according to the WHO, 240,000 people around the world died of peptic ulcer disease last year. Should we declare war on spicy foods?
I’m not trying to be an ass. My point here is that the “you’re more likely to be killed by X than by Y” argument is fundamentally bogus. There’s no question that terrorism is a bigger threat to our security because its adherents have the stated goal of killing us and destroying our country. On 9/11 we learned that they’re a lot closer to being able to do it than we ever suspected. So we have to fight them now before the situation gets even worse.
Is illegal immigration a mounting threat? If left alone, does it have the potential to kill us and destroy our country?
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say no. But that’s just me; I could be wrong.
“…the truth is that you and your family are more likely to be killed or injured by illegal aliens than Arab terrorists.”
—
Great comment Stephen. With all of the constant coverage of deaths due to terrorism, etc. It is sometimes easy to overlook the more potentially real threats right in your own backyard.
Living in California, I’m probably more at risk of being killed in an accident by an illegal alien without a license than I am to be killed by terrorism, robbery or a serial killer. But the latter three are just a much better story!
Jill, you dimwit. How is a woman a “hero” when she has 3 children in 3 years, before the age of 18, by an illegal alien who snorts cocaine? She continued to expose her children to this pathetic excuse for a human being, despite her obvious awareness of the dangers, until he blew them all to kingdom come. The kindest thing you can say about this girl is that she made some poor choices. It would be more accurate to say that she was complicit in her own murder and that of her children.
The word hero is so overused. No, Jill, single mothers are not heros. They are single mothers. Nothing more, nothing less. There are lots of single mothers that SUCK at it. They are NOT heros.
Not all cops are heros and not all fireman are heros. Sorry. Some are, most aren’t. But being simply a “firefighter”, at least in my eyes, carries with it the respect people are trying to add to it by calling them a “hero”. Hero is uneccessary. Fireman is good enough. He/she is, by virtue of being a firefighter, braver and more self-sacrificing than the rest of us. I don’t need to start calling them ALL heros to acknowledge that.
Hero is supposed to be for those acts that go far above one’s duty in the effort to save another. A fireman running into a burning building to pull some one out is not a hero. He is a fireman. But fireman who runs BACK into a burning building, after the chief on seen has declared the fire beyond control and too dangerous for trained and equipped firefighters and so has ordered his people out, he is a hero. Because he went beyond the call of duty and did something heroic.
Being a single mom does not make you a hero. Kicking your heroine addiction does not make you a hero. The vast majority of the things that we are so anxious now to label as “heros” are not heros and overuse is diluting the term.
We now try to call all cops heros too. Is the cop in the Scott Peterson trial that lied on the stand and covered up evidence to help the prosecution, possibly giving the defense grounds for a mistrial, a hero? Kind of a slap in the face to the cops that died trying to save people after 9/11 to call this incompetent bozo in California by the same term.
Jeff I love your first comment about “Antigone”. Made me smile.
However your comment on illegal immigration as not being a threat I think is not taking in the whole picture. There was a recent report released, and I wish I had the link handy, that nationwide illegal immigrants cost each US taxpayer $700 dollars per year. This is for the required medical, education and social services we provide.
I’ll try to find that article, I saw it on CNN (Lou Dobbs I think), but it mysteriously has not been mentioned by any other news source.
The other thing to take into consideration is the state of Texas when it was owned by Mexico. Mexico let immigrants flood into Texas. The Mexican government decided to start slapping a tax to cover costs in the region and elsewhere and I think we all know what happened (Alamo, statehood).
Now take a place like California. If illegals are let into the country in large enough numbers unchecked and one day we decide to truly crack down on the practice you are going to see all hell break loose.
I believe that is a much bigger real threat to the “average” citizen and our country than terrorism is directly.
Terrorism is a huge threat don’t get me wrong, but it is a much more visible threat than being destroyed from within.
It is unbelieveable to me how some people have such a hard time accepting that one of their loved ones may not be a perfect little angel that they will excuse any behavior just to rationalize the situation to themselves.
Guess what? If your sister got continually knocked up by a coked-out, abusive, illegal immigrant boyfriend, was complicit in the behavior, and exposed her children to such a person, she probably wouldn’t be deemed Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” any time soon.
It is sickening to me how people make up any excuse they can to direct attention away from the fact that people such as Mr. Garcia are simply bad people with no redeeming qualities, and people such as Ms. Antigone Allen are simply people with no moral standards, personal responsibility, or tangible intelligence.
Jill:
You’ve taken the skepticism displayed here towards this woman out of context; I don’t see anyone condemning “single Moms” … you were the first person to mention that subject, in fact.
Any derision was leveled at THIS PARTICULAR single Mom for her risky, irresponsible behavior. Miss Allen certainly had access to birth control and abortion – we’re not in nearly as much danger of losing either of those things as you seem to think – but she chose not to use them. She also chose an illegal immigrant cokehead as the father of her children.
How does any of this make her a “hero”? I think Chris’ brief exposition on heroism a couple posts above is well worth your time to read.
In any case, none of this is about abortion rights or birth control – which, for the record, I agree should be availible – or the virtues of single motherhood. It is, plainly and simply, about making responsible decisions with your life. Miss Allen and the evil bastard who immolated her made incredibly IRRESPONSILE decisions, and three children ended up paying for it most dearly indeed.

“The love of many will grow cold,” so to speak.
In addition to his other sterling qualities, let’s not forget to note that this “good person” impregnated a 15 year old girl when he was 21.
….”illegal immigration does not lead to murder”….
right on that, but it sure leaves a community’s law enforcement and mental health agencies in the dark as to who lives among them when there is no paper trail. a citizen serial child molestor/rapist must register with law enforcement, an illegal with the same history in their native country is without that information and supervision and a menace to all of us. this guy could have had a huge psych and legal history in mexico unknown to anyone.
…”single mothers should be viewed as heroes, not drains on society….”
jill, that’s a crock and statistics will support that. as with this story, when you are 18, a mother of three with a mentally ill homicidal drug-addled loser boyfriend, you aren’t a hero for putting your kids in mortal danger. you’re a loser if even a tradgically dead one.
Often, when I start to love someone too much, I begin to entertain fantasies of dousing them in gasoline and setting them on fire. So I totally understand where this guy was coming from.
Jill, the point is, we have enough of our own US-born criminals. Illegal aliens who want to rob, rape, murder, or set their childrne on fire should do so within their own countries, and affect their crime rate. Immigration status is always necessary to keep perspective on the tired mantra that illegals only come to work and better their lifeand their our society would just be so much better if we let them be and do their own thing without the eeevil government interfering in their plans.
Another incident in the lives of the Jerry Springer Generation.
