Have you seen this tanker?

The latest from Baghdad:

A SUICIDE bomber in a fuel truck blew it up early today at a police station in southwest Baghdad, killing nine people and wounding around 60 as the inferno engulfed civilians and officers waiting for their daily assignments, officials and witnesses said.

Later, the Defense Ministry said militants killed Essam al-Dijaili, the head of the military’s supply department, in a drive-by shooting as he walked into his house in Baghdad.

Four gunmen drove up as al-Dijaili was carrying dinner into his home Sunday night and opened fire, killing him and his bodyguard, said Mishal al-Sarraf, an adviser to the defense minister.

“He was killed in cold blood by the evil hands of the followers of the former regime,” Mr al-Sarraf said.

Reminds me that this missing tanker I wrote about in May is still missing. Last update came from WPIX-TV New York, which reported June 1:

“If you knew the route of a truck carrying hazardous materials and went off that route, you could find out immediately and find out what’s happening. A gasoline truck was stolen from a lot in southern New Jersey nearly two months ago. The FBI admits it has no idea where the vehicle is.”

Why would a terrorist steal an empty fuel tanker? It’d be easier to “jack” a full one if you wanted to use it for a terrorist attack. Sounds more like joyriding kids. They’ll find the thing at the bottom of a ravine eventually.

Liberal Larry – Regarding empty tankers…

Last summer, the Philippines arrested its most wanted Islamic terrorist, Saifullah (Muklis) Yunos, who confessed to plotting an extensive bombing campaign that included filling an empty gas tanker with ammonium nitrate and sawdust and detonating it in front of the presidential residence in Manila.

It doesn’t have to be fuel or an explosive mix, either; you could fill the tanker with a strong pesticide/insecticide, detonate it in the downtown area of any major city, and presto- it’s the Bhopal Disaster of 1984 all over again.

I read story after story on the internet that scare me to death and can’t help wonder why this is not scaring the Democrats. They continue to undermine any efforts that this administration makes against the terrorists who have declared war on us and no one seems to call them on it.

I recently read that some intelligence people believe there are 8 to 10 suitcase nuclear bombs already within the US borders and the stated purpose of Bin Laden is to kill 4 million Americans across the country.

What in the world are the Democrats doing? Where is their ’sense of decency’ when it comes to uniting together to protect this nation and it’s citizens.

    I just don’t get it….or I should say…they just don’t get it.

It could, of course, quite easily be a routine bunch of criminals, a tractor-trailor rig isn’t that hard to repaint and sell, strip for parts or, better yet, with the right paint scheme and some forged documants use to steal some fifteen thousand+ dollars worth of gasoline at a time.
Still, I wouldn’t want to bet the lives of my family that it’s just a routine crime.
