Thar she blows!
ABC News reports tonight: Heinz Kerry Tells Reporter To Shove It
Teresa Heinz Kerry urged her home-state delegates to the Democratic National Convention to restore a more civil tone to American politics, then minutes later told a newspaperman to “shove it.”
Hey, did I call this or what? Flashback, Jan. 28, 2004, Howard Dean in a Dress:
It’s only a matter of time before we witness another Howard Dean Moment in the Democratic presidential race — but not, I predict, from any of the Democratic presidential candidates. Skulking in the campaign background is a ticking time bombette with a volatile temper and acid tongue who makes Dean look like Mr. Rogers on Prozac…
Tick, tick, tick.

How does the last paragraph of the article apply to the story? Wow - talk about gratuitous Cheney slamming.
“Vice President Dick Cheney recently came under criticism for using a four-letter obscenity in an exchange with Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., on the Senate floor. He later was unapologetic about the remark, saying: “I felt better after I said it.’”
i’ve got to start reading your columns, that was great. Michelle the Seer…
Oh man, that’s awesome. It makes me want to vote for the ol’girl. If she’d make JFK take her last name then she’d be a shoo-in. :^D
She pushed one person and told another to shove it after a speech on the need for civility? Of course, the Left will never seen any hypocrisy or contradiction at all.
Teresa Heinz Kerry - Class act. (The Cl is silent)
I kinda feel sorry for the DNC… You know for the good of the party they would like to keep teresa in the background but somehow I don’t think she is used to being told what to do… Wish I had a video of her debriefing… That would really be a show.
I think any women will develop a volatile temper if she is married to a guy that just about decomposes in front of every body every time he is on stage!
According to Drudge, ABC news to air video of Thereeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzza om Monday. Yes, hell is immediately freezing over while simultaniously pigs are flying…
What region of France is that from, spacemonkey ;-). One thing we must say about Howard the Dean is that at least his spastic outbursts were more like the excited 3-year old after a few too many colas. Theresa Heiny Kerry is so very…Rodhamesque.
I knew Danny-Boy was heading downhill when he started doing commercials for the phone company targeted at know-nothing consumers needing a good ripping-off. So sad to see them go like that. Poor Danny…and to think today we have medications for his synaptic misfirings…
I hope his family is handling the tragedy with grace.
Perhaps Mrs. Kerry ought to read her own speeches a bit more carefully, and actually believe the words she’s saying.
Here’s the video of the incident:

“Civility” to a Democrat means Republicans shut up and take it.
Well put, Mr. Crawford.
Great blog, Michelle!
Robert Crawford, your comment is a keeper. Well said!
I can’t really slam her on this one. More reporters should be told to “shove it”
Michelle…
Since you are a journalist, please explain something to me. How does the Peter Jackson from the Associated Press get away with :
“Minutes later, Colin McNickle, the editorial page editor of the conservative Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, … ”
Why is the adjective “conservative” used here?Using this model, shouldn’t the AP start using leftie or liberal in front of the NY Times or LA Times?
What’s the caliber of Mrs. Loose Cannon? About 155mm, I’d guess…
Also, this is interesting:
“Marla Romash, Teresa Heinz Kerry spokeswoman, told WTAE-TV’s Scott Baker, ‘This was sheer frustration, aimed at a right-wing rag, that has consistently and purposely misrepresented the facts in reporting on Mrs. Kerry and her family.’ ”
http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/3576476/detail.html
Ain’t she sweet?
John Kerry is a man driven by two things: love of money and love of power. When he fulfilled his “infinite riches” fantasy by marrying Theresa, he didn’t realize that he was also taking on a HUGE liability WRT his political ambitions. Now, the honeymoon is over, and Theresa is dragging Kerry’s presidential chances down, down, down. He must be livid with Theresa for doing so much damage to his presidential hopes — but he can do little about it because she is his goose with golden eggs.
The Bush’s are so wise to keep their head above all the garbage smears, slimy innuendoes, and lies that are constantly thrown at them. What a class act. They apparently know that “truth will out.”
What is being shown here is that the side that hates and gleefully admits it hates can dish it out, but can’t take the least little criticism itself.
Cole - you are exactly right and that was the first thing that popped out to me when I read this.
This actually exposes the biased of the AP itself. They can not see the liberal ideology being exposed in the mainstream media because it is a position they agree with, and therefore view as central on the political landscape.
Only organizations with a different way of telling the news (one we like to refer to as “just reporting the news”) must be “conservative”, and therefore discredited.
The Dragon Lady soars again.
Ms. Kerry has only begun to show us her “true” nature. While her “handlers” will be busy trying to keep her manners in order; her arrogance will continue to grate on the even those folks who want to like her. My 82 year old mother and her friends (life long demos) are shocked at her behavior. Mom told me “some old sayings never die—in the case of Mrs. Kerry, ‘YOU CAN’T MAKE A SILK PURSE OUT OF A SOW’S EAR.”
… surprised Tuh-RAY-zuh didn’t say “Let them eat cake” …
After the outburst Tereza Heinz Kerry said “I expressed myself forcefully, felt better after I said it. I think a lot of my colleagues felt that what I had said badly needed to be said, that it was long overdue. Ordinarily I don’t express myself in strong terms, but I thought it was appropriate here.”
Oh, sorry, my mistake. That quote’s not from Mrs. Kerry — it’s from Dick Cheney after he was caught swearing at Senator Leahy on the floor of the Senate.
It’s on tape, she most certainly did say
“We need to turn back some of the creeping, un-Pennsylvanian and sometimes un-American traits that are coming into some of our politics”.
He asked her what she meant by “un-american”, a fair question in my opinion. She said at least a half-dozen times *she didn’t say it* at all and he was putting words in her mouth.
Well, somebody is. And apparently she does not find them memorable.

Should anybody really be surprised? She’s in the Democratic camp. They hide their true faces as best they can but every so often, the mask slips down a bit and you glimpse the real face.
The Prez needs to get Laura out front early and often. This sweet and classy lady can be a formidable campaign asset, especially when compared to Mrs. JFK.
BTW, Martin aka Blogbat - stop making me laugh - I’m trying to be serious here. My wife likes your wit.
Hey, anyone remember what George W. Bush said about NY Times reporter Adam Clymer during the 2000 race? On September 9, 2000, while sitting on the dais at a campaign event Bush spotted Clymer in the crowd and then turned to Cheney and said “There’s Adam Clymer, a major league [expletive deleted]hole,” to which Cheney responded “Oh, yeah, he is. Big time.” Unfortunately they forgot their mikes were on….
Of course, there’s a slight difference between these two cases. One case was the Republican presidential candidate and a sitting governor using an obscenity, the other is the wife of a candidate not using an obscenity. Other than that no difference at all…..
The smartest thing conservatives could do is to continually tick her off - not all that difficult since as you mentioned, she makes ‘Mad Dog’ Dean look like Mr. Rogers on Prozac. If we can get to to give her very own ‘I have a scream’ speech……
Did Hilary really respond to this with “You go, girl!”???…that’s what I’m reading on other blogs! Unfreakinbelieveble.
They just can’t help themselves.
Can’t wait to see Gore….!
I must start first to say Michelle, you are so obviously the best columnist working today. Any educated person could see that.
That having been said, I can get to my comment on this post.
Teresa Heinz Kerry. I’ve always wondered about her. First of all, what kind of parents would give their daughter a middle name like Heinz. It’s a ketchup, for heaven’s sake, not the name for a little girl. I thought MY middle name was bad (Kennedy, ugh!), but that one’s just awful. It’s like they must have wanted her to grow up angry and liberal.
When she told the newspaperman to “shove it”, he should have said “shove what??”! That’s what I would of done.
Yes, Hillary took up for THK on CNN. After all, the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy is misogynist in nature (why else would it seek to prevent abortions — it has nothing to do with actual live humanbeingstobe gestating — it’s all about controlling women). Hence the sisterhood must band together.
What a crock.
THK makes me nervous. I mean, sure, Laura Bush killed a man, but that when LB was still a teenager. To paraphrase Jesus, “Let he who hasn’t been involved in at least one vehicular homicide cast the first stone.” Whereas THK hasn’t had the chance to “vent” the way our First Lady (The best First Lady ever!) has.
Personally I feel that we Republicans (The best party ever!) need to counter pushy woman like THK with a little “pushing” of our own. My suggestion - repeal the 19th amendment! If it weren’t for a bunch of Liberal “do gooders” giving women the vote - in clear contradiction of God’s (The best God ever) laws, woman like THK would be at home right now - barefoot and pregnant.
I know that Michelle’s been busy with other topics (Like Courtney Love’s campaign to burn down orphanages), but I’m sure that, before the end of the year, she’ll join other conservative columnists in calling for the repeal of the most ungodly, secular, liberal amendment since amendments one through ten, inclusive.
God Bless America and God Bless Darryl Worley!
I guess she and Kerry are made for each other. They’re each one half of a pair of flip flops.
Stefan,
Let’s compare the two incidents a little more; take a look at Clymer’s “journalism”, and tell me that the President wouldn’t refer to him as an asshole in what he thought was a private comment.
Now look at Mrs. Kerry’s comment. She tells a reporter to ’shove off’ after he had the bad taste to refer her back to her own “un-American” quote, which she denied saying (even after she was recorded saying it). A little different, eh?
And since we’re bringing back these old quotes, what’s your take on Kerry calling the Secret Service agent protecting John’s life a “son of a bitch”, simply coz little Johnny couldn’t keep up with his GenX snowboarding, and got a booboo falling down?
Personally, I’m surprised he didn’t put in for a Purple Heart.
The point that she DID say un-american
and it can be clearly heard even by
someone hearing impaired as I am is what ticks me off.
The reporter only wanted an explanation
of what she said and she goes beserk.
It takes adults to admit they were wrong and apparently neither she or Kerry know this simple fact.
She is going to be put on the back burner if she keeps this up and I wonder how she will take it, she hasher own mind and nothing Kerry would
say would stop her.
Of course Hillary loved this, it means
less chance of Kerry winning. She will
probably encourage Theresa to make more
of a fool of herself.
Carole, your last comment is the meat of the matter concerning Hillary’s comment. Nobody can convince me that the Clintons want Kerry to win as that would certainly deal a very debilitating blow to her chances of becoming prez in 2008.
The difference between THK’s comments and those of Cheney and Bush in 2000? Neither Bush nor Cheney had just finished a speech about the need for civility in politics.
The Lunatic Left will never admit hypocrisy on the part of THK, unless, of course, she marries a Republican again.
This just in:
“John Edwards bumped into a DNC delegate in a hotel hallway and didn’t say ‘excuse me.’”
I predict within the next week someone will say “Thank you” to John Kerry and he will forget to say “You’re welcome.” These democrats are so unmannered and barbaric!
I’m saddened and amazed that these people let loose with bursts of emotion. First Dean and now Mrs. Kerry! We need to work on keeping our emotions under wraps…like the Vulcans on Start Trek would. Now if it was Spock, he’d have kept his cool and just pinched a reporter, maybe.
On the contrary — Bush was running his 2000 campaign on the claim that he was restoring “honor and dignity” to the White House and that he was “a uniter, not a divider.” I don’t think honorable, dignified people who want to unite and not divide go around calling people they don’t like “a major-league a**hole.”
Stefan,
Excuse me? Bush was speaking in private and just happened to accidentally become amplified by a nearby mic. Teresa was talking to a reporter who was interveiwing her about remarks she had publicly made just a few minutes before. Geez, get a clue.
What with Teresa’s constant embarassments, I’ll bet Bush starts writing her love poetry:
http://floydthechimp.blogspot.com/2004/07/he-wishes-for-247-teresa-channel.html
(With apologies to Yeats)
He would Never do that. Bush is a married man of integrity, not some cheating packet of scum who can’t even fly a plane and accomplish missions.
Hmmm… what bad news hit the left today? The trolls certainly are out in force.
Can it be they view the opening of their Party convention as a negative event?!
Again, the Left can try to spin all they want (funny how that doesn’t work in the post-Clinton blog age), but the fact remains: the woman had just given a speech on civility.
The hypocrisy is astonishing.
i can’t understand why you people think what she did was wrong. i’d like to see you not get angry when being harrassed by the press constantly
i can’t understand why you people think what she did was wrong. i’d like to see you not get angry when being harrassed by the press constantly.
Had it just been a case of her telling off a reporter, I think a lot of us would’ve cheered.
However, there were a couple thing that make what she did wrong. First, she was talking about the need for civility, then she tells someone to shove it. That comes across as hypocritical.
To me, the bigger problem is that when asked to clarify something she’d just said, her first reaction was to repeatedly lie and deny she said it despite it being on tape.
As for Bush and Clymer, it wasn’t a good move on his part, but at least he was telling the truth. Clymer is a major league asshole. Notice how virtually no one ever refuted that?
we all know that John Kerry married her for the money, because i’m sure it wasn’t for looks nor personality. and i dare anyone, including John Kerry, to say differently (with a straight face).
I don’t mind The Witch calling out a reporter. What bugs me is she stated the phrase “un-American” and then denied three times that she said “un-American.”
Wake up, Tessy. Your money becomes you.
did i say three times? make it 6 or 7 times.
John hasn’t yet taught her to use hand signals like he used on the Vietnam Vet at the Vietnam Memorial!
I wonder if this is going to get hammered in the media enough for most people to even know the subject of her speech or the fact she lied about what she said. As some posters here have shown, A lot of people (most?) only know she told off a reporter. If that’s all I knew about the story I would think it was pretty cool. If it is treated superficailly enough, it could be a positive. But, that would only encourage her and she will keep going til she really blows hubbys chances out of the water.
I am sticking by my first of the year prediction. 45 or more states for Bush. Dems don’t have a clue how much trouble they are in.
She would be the most amusing first lady in history. If Kerry gets elected, I’m going to start taping SNL.
