   And I’m not sure the fact that having an “expired visa” is really all that meaningful based on what I’ve read in other blogs/blog entries about this story. But this story appears to have no end to the “disturbing” details- there’s plenty to be concerned about in this story to go around.

   Yes they were a band on a way to a gig. When did that make one automatically innocent of any wrongdoing? Suddenly, if one is a terrorist they can’t have any other occupation? That can’t have a legitimate function that allows them to move about freely while pursuing alterior motives? Bologna!

   AT the very least these guys got a kick out of “acting suspicious” which seems verified from many sources. And while it is obvious that bands of US heritage are well known for troublesome behavior, causing trouble for authorities and freaking out the main stream whenever possible, this is extremely different.

   If it was only done to get a kick out of scaring a plane-load of people than it was done in the poorest of taste and they brought the extra hassle of being detained on themselves by their actions. If it was done to gather information about possible future hijacking missions, then we will soon see the real deal and not a “dry-run”.

   But to blow it off completely as the result of paranoid racism is ignorant. It obviously did happen and there was obviously the intent to scare people if not actually practice for future action.

   At the very least I consider their little charade to be equivalent to joking to security guard that you have a bomb or yelling “Fire!” in a movie theatre. You deserve whatever grief your tastless prank brings you.

I would imagine we could track down many other passengers from that flight and get THEIR perceptions (Ms Jacobsen mentions, I believe, that another woman was crying?). We could get some detailed comments from the flight crew, on record. We could, perhaps, learn more about this “band”.

    But as far as most of the mainstream press are concerned, this story doesn’t exist…or if it DOES, it is the story of one hysterical and/or racist woman totally over-reacting.

    I took a look at the “Urban Myth” debunking website, snopes, and they have this one listed as “FALSE”, already. Case closed. They have decided there was nothing amiss here. And a lot of the “mainstream” media seem eager to do the same thing.

    To me, THAT is nearly as disturbing…nearly… as the incident itself, because it really makes me wonder what ELSE we are not hearing about!

If the stars actually were alligned and these musicians were in fact terrorists who were trying to assemble a bomb/weapon in parts (or doing a dry run), why would they do it on the plane where their actions might be obvious. They could just have easily assembled it in any of the airport bathrooms after they passed security, or in the Northwest passenger lounge (they could have reserved a conference room and assembled it there) or in any number of less conspicuous places. They could have then brought the device on board in a carry on bag.

    9/11 and the shoe bomber demonstrated that the terrorists are not only evil but clever. If people are going to be paranoid, they might as well be paranoid and think as cleverly as possible.

    Americans do not intend to fade way and go extinct. The French might face extinction with the increasing muslim population increasing way beyond ethnic French population. I would suggest that you open your eyes and see how the future may look in France in 20-30 years.

    Also please elucidate why Americans would be jealous of France’s popularity with the Muslim world. How has that benefited your nation?

    Plus why should Americans steal oil when we are the richest nation and can simply buy it. Much cheaper to buy oil than conquer a nation to appropiate it. Iraq cost a lot more than buying the oil would to the US. Please grow up and use your brain.
