UN peacekeepers apparently when on a rampage of over 150 incidents of rape, pedophilia, and prostitution in the Congo. Now you know if there was one US soldier caught in bed with a 13 year old, it’d be all over the news, at least it is on Lexis….

UN humanitarian efforts in the Congo don’t seem to be going very smoothly.

Does anyone care to venture a guess as to why this isn’t plastered all over credible news sources like CBS, NBC and ABC?

In response to reports that some 150 UN civilian staff and soldiers in the Congo are under investigation for sex abuse charges, Ms. Malkin, in a post she titles UN’s Abu Ghraib, says:So, expect to see the abuse photos plastered on the front page

Why not withdraw from the UN? Maybe 60 years ago diplomats had to physically be in a room together; maybe then there was a need to gather in order to timely share information, documents, etc.

Bear this in mind when considering why the best response to Kofi Annan talking about Abu Ghraib should be something other than a variant on “shut the hell up.”

Comparing three recent stories from Africa with stories from Iraq makes me wonder whether, just possibly, the world’s journalists would rather concentrate on news that they can use against President Bush instead of the UN, France or African dictators…
