Just before the release of my first book, Invasion, I wanted to get a blurb from a liberal scholar or pundit to go along with blurbs provided by conservatives such as Sean Hannity, Rep. Tom Tancredo, and David Limbaugh. There was only one problem: I couldn’t think of a single prominent liberal who vigorously opposes illegal immgration.

So I could hardly believe my eyes this morning when I saw this column by Froma Harrop, a liberal, arguing that strong steps should be taken to reduce illegal immigration. Obviously, I don’t agree with her statement that “Democrats have never shown great passion for controlling immigration, but they are tigers next to the Bush administration.” Nevertheless, it’s great to finally discover a left-of-center syndicated columnist who wants to do something (other than amnesty) about illegal immigration. Here’s hoping that many other lefty pundits and pols will follow in her footsteps.
