Cornelius Crane Chase & other People for the American Way
You’ve read the Washington Post’s report by Richard Lieby on “actor”/”comedian” “Chevy” Chase’s left-wing, Bush-bashing meltdown at a People for the American Way gala in the Beltway.
But the real joke was PFAW’s ceremony itself, dubbed the “Spirit of Liberty Awards,” which honored Hollyweird blowhards Alec Baldwin and Susan Sarandon as “Defenders of Democracy.” For what? For their ill-informed fear-mongering, dictator-coddling, military-undermining, free-speech-stifling tantrums.
If you thought the D.C. gala was fertile ground for the unhinged, just wait for PFAW’s next Spirit of Liberty award ceremonies–coming next month in NYC and San Francisco. I have no doubt they’ll make Chevy Chase look like Mr. Rogers.
