NABBED: THE HANDSHAKE MAN
Richard Weaver is a somewhat notorious figure in the Beltway. Dubbed “The Handshake Man,” he had crashed several inaugural ceremonies and snuck into presidential events despite the Secret Service’s efforts to keep him out.
Today, he was caught before he could get near President Bush and arrested on an outstanding warrant for intruding on a February 2003 prayer breakfast attended by the president. I highlighted the Handshake Man and other security lapses around the president here. Investigative reporter John Berlau exposed more Secret Service problems here.
Seems like things are looking up.
