BLOGGING THE IRAQI ELECTIONS

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 26, 2005 11:56 AM

Spirit of America, a wonderful humanitarian project started by Jim Hake after the 9/11 attacks, is organizing a network of Iraqi citizen bloggers who will offer on-the-ground coverage of the historic elections on Jan. 30. Here’s more:

Most of what we see are bullet-proof vested correspondents reporting from hotel balconies in Baghdad. In contrast, these Iraqis have extraordinary backgrounds- there’s a naval officer, psychiatrist, teacher and a computer science major- and will give unique accounts of the elections by satellite phones and blogs…

Viewers will have access to a unique, first-person account of the day’s events FROM Iraqis, ALL across the country- not just the green zone. (The reports will be webcast.)

The correspondents will also be recording their reports on blogs made possible by Spirit of America’s innovative new Arabic blog tool. Members of the mainstream media will also call in from Iraq, enabling listeners/viewers
to get a 360 degree view of the day’s events.

Check it out! And you can support Spirit of America’s efforts here.
