THE CONTEMPTIBLE WES COOLEY

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 3, 2005 02:29 PM

The lowlife Republican who was convicted on felony charges of lying about serving with the Army Special Forces in Korea is back in the news–this time for defrauding investors in an Internet startup. How did he try to weasel out of this scandal?

Testifying in the BidBay lawsuit, Cooley denied any involvement in fraud, testifying that he had suffered three strokes and could remember nothing from the previous 15 years of his life. “He could not recall his wife, whom he married in 1993,” his attorney Richard Keyes said.

The jury didn’t buy it. He and a partner have been ordered to pay $2.2 million to 11 St. Louis-area investors.

Jerk.
