ART UNDER ATTACK BY MUSLIMS IN SWEDEN TOO

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 4, 2005 02:39 AM

A few days ago I commented on the suppression of anti-Muslim art in the Netherlands. Today Reuters reports a similar incident in Sweden:

A Swedish museum dedicated to world culture has removed a erotic painting plastered with verses from the Muslim holy book, the Koran, from an exhibition about AIDS after Muslims complained it was obscene.

Jette Sandahl, director of the World Culture Museum, which opened in Gothenburg a month ago, said on Wednesday that the painting by an Arab artist living in France was replaced by another less offensive one.

I can see why Muslims were offended by the painting, but why should art that is offensive to Muslims be suppressed while art that is offensive to Jews is not? (Meanwhile, here in the U.S., we not only do not suppress anti-Christian art, we subsidize it.)
