SHOOTOUT AT KINGSTON, N.Y., MALL

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 13, 2005 06:09 PM

There was a shootout at the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston, N.Y., this afternoon. At least two and possibly three gunmen reportedly opened fire. Reuters reports that three to ten people were wounded.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown, N.Y. reports that a U.S. Army recruiter was shot, and may have been targeted.

Update: I’m watching a press conference on FOX News right now. Captain Wayne Olsen of the New York State police says they have apprehended someone and that to the best of his knowledge there was only one shooter, “a lone gunman.” He says that two people were wounded, a far cry from the three to ten injuries reported by Reuters. Police are not releasing any information about the person they have in custody.

Another police official says the shootout began in a Best Buy store. If so, that may undermine the notion that the gunman targeted an Army recruiter.

Spoons says, “Doesn’t sound much like terrorism to me.” Me neither.
