U.N. FOUNDATION ADVERTISING ON RIGHT-WING BLOGS

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 11, 2005 11:05 AM

Yesterday morning, I received notification of a new blog ad submission titled “The UN Counterterrorism Program.” The ad text is as follows:

“…every time we stand up for human rights and fundamental freedoms, we stand up against terrorism. Every time we act to resolve political disputes, we act against terrorism. Every time we make the rule of law stronger, we make terrorists weaker.” – Kofi Annan

I wasn’t sure if this was a joke or not, but either way, I opted against accepting the blog ad. There’s just no way in hell.

My friend John Hawkins at Right Wing News received the same blog ad submission from the U.N. Foundation and decided to run it. Here’s his cheeky explanation. (You can see the ad on the left-hand side of John’s blog; scroll down a bit to the last ad.)

Anyway, interesting p.r. strategy on the part of the U.N. Foundation, don’t ya think?

If you’ve received the ad, leave a trackback and let us know if you’re running it or not and why.

Update: Related cartoon from Cox & Forum hits the nail on the head.
