ASK KURTZ
Washington Post media critic Howard Kurtz will be participating in an online chat on Monday at noon EST. Submit your questions here.
Here are three questions I’m sending him:
1.Why did you describe the unsigned Schiavo talking points as a “Republican strategy memo”–a term that implies Republicans were responsible for creating and/or circulating it?
2. Have you asked anyone at ABC News or your Post colleagues if any of their sources said the Schiavo memo was created or distributed by Republican staffers? If you have not asked them, why not?
3. In a taped interview with a Chinese newspaper, your managing editor, Philip Bennett, is quoted saying that the Bush administration lied about WMDs in Iraq. Bennett also is quoted questioning the notion that democracy is advancing in Iraq. Bennett has stated that some of his comments in the interview were mistranscribed but he has not disputed these particular comments and has not responded to requests that he release a copy of the tape. Do you think he should release the tape?
