A CLOSER LOOK AT THE PULITZER-WINNING CARTOONS

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 6, 2005 01:15 PM

John Hinderaker at Power Line puts on his wading boots and dives into Nick Anderson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoons, which employ tried and trite images to attack the Bush administration. Anderson also throws in an obligatory smear of the Swift Boat Vets, no doubt a clincher for the Pulitzer crowd.

Anderson is a shallow and reflexive liberal, and his artistry leaves much to be desired. By contrast, Seattle Post-Intelligencer staffer and 2003 Pulitzer Prizer-winning editoral cartoonist David Horsey is just as rabid a liberal, but he can draw. (Horsey won my respect in Seattle with his powerful cartoons on the Wenatchee horror. They’re not online, but they should be.)

Anyway, who needs the MSM for political humor?

We’ve got Day by Day.

And Scrappleface.

And IMAO. And Protein Wisdom. And Iowahawk. And Lileks. Beautiful Atrocities.

And legions more pajama-clad funnypeople waiting to be discovered. They’re just a mouse click away.

Related: Scott W. Johnson, also at powerful Power Line, offers his own nomination for the moving photos and articles run in a series by Minneapolis Star Tribune on Army Staff Sgt. Jessica Clements. Scott updates the story with news that Sgt. Clements has been awarded the Bronze Star. Must-read.
