SMUT: THE BOOK
Gil Reavill, a former writer for Screw, Penthouse, and Maxim, has an interesting new book out titled Smut: A Sex-Industry Insider (and Concerned Father) Says Enough is Enough. He’s a card-carrying ACLU liberal with a young daughter and he’s blowing the whistle on his industry’s sins. NRO has a book excerpt.
As an insider, the guy knows what he’s talking about–in contrast to David Brooks, who wrote a cluelessly sanguine NY Times column last week trashing social conservatives and advising cultural warriors to “Just lie back and enjoy the optimism.” (Yeah, try and look at this through rose-colored glasses.) Brooks’ swamp fever worsens by the week.
