THE JESSICA LUNSFORD ACT
It’s now the law in Florida:
- 25 years to life in prison for people convicted of molesting children under 12.
- If offenders serve less than life, they would be required to wear a global positioning system device after their release so authorities can monitor their whereabouts.
Surprisingly, according to Voice of America, the ACLU does not object to the GPS tracking. For now, anyway. The group is, however, protesting sex offender registry websites and has expressed opposition to the mayor of Miami Beach’s proposal to block registered sex offenders from his city.
