Readers are sending word that the woman who fashions herself the Rosa Parks of the anti-war movement was arrested tonight outside the White House. Here’s a brief story:

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan and 25 other protesters were arrested Wednesday night in front of the White House. The protesters had staged the first day of what they say will be a week-long vigil to mourn the deaths of U.S. military in Iraq, which this week reached the 2,000 mark.

U.S. park police shift commander Lieutenant Kathleen Harasek told CNN the protesters were arrested as they lay on the sidewalk in front of the White House and were charged with civil disobedience.

Harasek said the protesters were to be processed at park police headquarters and would likely be released later Wednesday night.

So, she didn’t tie herself to a fence, as she had earlier promised to do. But she has vowed to go back and do the “die-in” again.

Meantime, the Political Pit Bull was in D.C. earlier today and snapped photos of Sheehan in action.

Milblogger LB comments on Sheehan’s appearance at Arlington National Cemetery this afternoon.

According to this press release, Sheehan will make a grand entrance at the National Press Club on Friday:

Cindy Sheehan, co-founder of Gold Star Families for Peace, will hold a “Newsmaker” News Conference on Friday, Oct. 28 at 9 a.m. in the National Press Club, located at 14th and F Streets, N.W., Washington, D.C. (13th Floor).

And heads up: Sheehan also plans to bring her media circus to Walter Reed Hospital–where she’ll presumably join the obnoxious agitators of Code Pink.
