THE WAR ON WAL-MART
It’s on in Maryland, and the socialists are winning. My fellow Marylanders Ian Schwartz at The Political Teen and Soccer Dad have the story of how the state’s Dems overrode Gov. Bob Ehrlich’s veto of a bill that that would require large employers to set aside a set percentage of payroll costs for health care. The bill currently applies to only one large employer in the state: Wal-Mart.
The company, which employs about 17,000 Maryland residents at more than 40 Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores, responds here.
Sebastian Mallaby’s excellent piece showing how the anti-Wal-Mart campaign hurts low-income workers and families is worth a re-read.
