THE NSA HEARINGS & THE ROCKEFELLER FACTOR

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 6, 2006 09:32 AM

Pajamas Media is the place to be for all-out coverage of the Senate hearings on the NSA terrorist surveillance program, which begin right now.

You can tune in over at the Senate Judiciary Committee’s page.

Lorie Byrd at Polipundit puts the focus back on Sen. Jay Rockefeller and raises questions about his possible role as the leaker who illegally supplied the New York Times with the details of the NSA program. Check out all her links as well.

Andy McCarthy examines the Clinton administration and Arlen Specter’s question to Bush AG Alberto Gonzales about the “renunciation” of presidential power. More here, here, and here on the Clinton vs. Bush standard.

Gonzales in the WSJ: America expects surveillance.

Power Line points to Debra Burlingame’s excellent op-ed in the NYPost. John Hinderaker reports:

I believe that Debra will be attending the Senate hearing today. Filmmaker Andrew Marcus will be there on behalf of Pajamas Media. Our own Paul Mirengoff will be with Andrew, I think, for at least part of the day, as they try to snag interviews with Senators, witnesses and observers. It will be nice to have at least one “journalist” on hand who actually understands the legal issues that the Senators will be pontificating about.

And here’s Mark Coffey’s quick and dirty guide to the NSA hearings.

0940am. There is a spat right off the bat over Specter’s decision not to swear Gonzales in.

AP reports.

2pm EST. Via Roger L. Simon, Power Line’s Paul Mirengoff meets Sen. Dick Durbin. Hilarity ensues! (Hat tip: Instapundit)
