I read Flemming Rose’s article in the Opinion section of the Washington Post. Excellent…and I’m hoping that it is widely read.

I’m sorry – your country deserves better.

60 Minutes lost it’s lustre for me when they lied about President Bush’s service record – and when caught – stonewalled. (Yes – I know it was 60 Minutes II – but they all work for the same network.)

I don’t watch 60 Minutes anymore – so I don’t know what they said – and frankly I don’t care.

Tell any of your countrymen that if they visit the USA they will be well received.

You are not alone in your feelings of anger at the “60 Minutes” smear job last night. It is just amazing to me that the American “media” has been so completely out of touch with what is really going on with this story. “60 Minutes” is supposed to be one of those news programs that looks deep into the news to get the best information out to the people, regardless of who it affects. But one of the other commentors sums it up very well, (paraphrasing) “entertainment disguised as a news program.” And not all that entertaining, I might add.

I’ve read the transcript of one of the Danish TV newsman interviewing one of Laban’s Islamofascist minions (I forget his name), and the newsman just smoked the “imam” when it came to the picture of the French hog caller. I was simply amazed that Simon just ignored that picture as he leafed through the pamphlet when interviewing Laban. I saw it flash by and was thinking, “he went right past the picture of the French guy; he isn’t even going to ask Laban about it.” That pretty much ended the whole segment’s credibility for me.

This is not only a fight for free speech, but a fight against those who would lie about our intolerance while spreading their own intolerance of everything else. You’re a brave people standing up for what is right and I’m so glad your nation and mine are allies.

Our troops in Iraq have seen this continuously over the past 3 years. They are, as L.H. puts it, “in a position to judge the validity of the statements,” in this case, about Iraq. I have personally never met one that judges the MSM’s reports to be valid.

As we combat the lies of our MSM and the lies of the radical Islamists, the best weapon we have is truth. We must always seek the truth and speak the truth. God bless Denmark!

I never thought of myself first, as a Dane, and second, as an American, until last night. Bob Simon’s patronizing, “pat on the head” attitude was truely insulting. How much further can CBS slip into the abyss? It was such a patriarchal display of arrogance.

You have a right to feel slighted, as do the rest of us.

Thanks for your letter, and thank you to the majority of Danes, the Danish media, and particularly PM Rasmussen for showing the rest of us how to make a brave, honest, and reasoned defense of the right of free speech–even in the face of cowardice and opposition from so many of the beneficiaries of free speech. Go Denmark! Buy Danish!

I saw a Danish flag in someone’s front yard today near my home and it made my day. We’re rooting for you!

I hope the Danes realize how little we regard CBS and 60 minutes. The blogs sank CBS with the Smoking Memo.
