NATL MILITARY APPRECIATION MONTH

Via Mudville Gazette, May is National Military Appreciation Month. From the DOD’s America Supports You site:
Legislation in the U.S. Senate in 1999 designated May as National Military Appreciation Month. This legislation tells our service members that their country has set aside an entire month to honor, remember and appreciate them. More comprehensive legislation – H. Con. Res. 328 – was passed by unanimous consent of both Houses of Congress in April 2004.
Actor Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band performed on Friday at the Pentagon to kick off the month-long celebration. He and his band will be back in D.C. again for the Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the Capitol building May 28 from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
