1,000+ jihadis for 1 Jew
That’s the reported deal being negotiated for the release of kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
There’s conflicting info, though, on where Shalit is and whether this swap is real. Ynetnews says: “London-based Arabic-language newspaper reports kidnapped soldier has been recently transferred from Gaza to Egypt ahead of anticipated prisoner exchange. Shalit’s father, Noam: According to our sources report is false.”
More denials.
What if the deal goes through? This warning answers the question:
Israel’s Terror Victim Association has decried the possible wholesale release of prisoners in exchange for the abducted IDF soldiers being held in Gaza and Lebanon.
The report came, as both the Israeli and Arab media are saying a release of more than 1000 Palestinian prisoners for Corporal Gilad Shalit is imminent.
“What is the use of one release, when we thereby bring many citizens into the circle of immediate risk?” the Israeli daily Haaretz quoted the association’s Chairman Meir Indor as saying in a letter to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz.
Referring to the many cases of released prisoners that later committed terror attacks, he warned that such an exchange “will result in more abductions” as “every release increases their belief that the system works.”
Of course: “Terrorist thanks world for making abductions profitable.”
