Obama: Soldier deaths = “Wasted” lives

Sen. Barack Obama’s nutroots are showing. RedStateLady has the video of Obama arguing that each and every member of the military who volunteered to serve and died in Iraq wasted his/her life:

Transcript:

OBAMA: We ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized and should have never been waged and to which we have now spent $400 billion and has seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted.

The audience roared with cheers and applause.

Allah explains the anti-war Dems’ conundrum:

Of course he thinks their lives were wasted. Everyone on the anti-war side does; that’s one of the reasons they want to end the war. But they can’t say that because it dishonors the dead so they’re forced into rhetorical pretzels like the one Pelosi tied herself into a few weeks ago with Diane Sawyer. Army Lawyer summed up her position at the time thusly: “They didn’t die for nothing, they died for something stupid.”

Barack Obama, meet 2LT Mark Daily and read why he joined.

Barack Obama, meet Marine Sgt. Joshua J. Frazier, whose brother and father I quoted this weekend:

Aaron Mallin, 29, Frazier’s older brother, said Josh was proud of the difference he was making in Iraq. He once told Mallin, for instance, that his unit was serving in what has been described as the most dangerous intersection in the world.

Since Frazier and his fellow Marines moved in, he told Mallin, people could once again cross the street without being killed.

“And he was very proud of that,” Mallin said.

Dad Rick Frazier said his son’s strong will was what made him unique.

“That helped him get through life. He worked very hard at being an individual. But I think the most important thing I can say about my son was that he loved his family and we’ll sorely miss that part of him,” he said.

“He believed in the United States and believed what he was doing was right. He gave his life for what he thought was the right thing to do.”

Barack Obama, meet Jackie Sigua, whose 21-year-old son, William M. Sigua of Los Altos Hills, Calif., was killed in Iraq earlier this month:

Sigua joined the Army in July 2003 and reported to Fort Bragg in March 2004. Six months later, he deployed to Afghanistan to help with security during the country’s elections. He deployed with his unit to Iraq in August.

Sigua’s mother Jackie said her son recently established a relationship with a 5th grade class at Santa Rita Elementary School in Los Altos, Calif. He exchanged mail with the children and talked about what he was doing in Iraq, she said.

In a written statement, Jackie Sigua also said that her son believed in the mission in Iraq.

“He believed he and his unit would make a difference,” she said. “He had an impact on everyone he met and had many friends who looked up to him and will remember him as a hero.”

Barack Obama, meet Cpl. Jeffrey B. Starr, whose last words the New York Times attempted to twist to serve an anti-war agenda:

“Obviously if you are reading this then I have died in Iraq. I kind of predicted this, that is why I’m writing this in November. A third time just seemed like I’m pushing my chances. I don’t regret going, everybody dies but few get to do it for something as important as freedom. It may seem confusing why we are in Iraq, it’s not to me. I’m here helping these people, so that they can live the way we live. Not have to worry about tyrants or vicious dictators. To do what they want with their lives. To me that is why I died. Others have died for my freedom, now this is my mark.”

I could go on, but it would be a waste of breath trying to get Sen. Obama to acknowledge the existence of countless soldiers and their families who reject his patronizing, infantilizing, and insulting view of all American troops as dupes/victims who have squandered their lives.
