Flashback: 1991 University of Iowa shooting
University of Iowa graduate Matt Miller e-mails that today’s carnage at Virginia Tech “sounds eerily similar to the November 1st, 1991 shootings at the University of Iowa by a Chinese doctorate student of physics shot dead three professors, his rival classmate (also Chinese) and a University Vice President. He also seriously wounded one other student by shooting her in the mouth. She is now a quadraplegic for life. He also killed himself after the carnage.
This horrific event also left the University of Iowa campus in shock, disbelief and grief.”

Chicago Sun-Times reports, based on a single anonymous source, that the gunman may have been a “Chinese man who arrived in the United States last year on a student visa. The 24-year-old man arrived in San Francisco on United Airlines on Aug. 7 on a visa issued in Shanghai, the source said.”
Meantime, Chinese media report: “No Chinese students found among victims in U.S. campus shootings.”
