Confederacy of dunces
Lawrence O’Donnell’s gun ignorance was on full display on The McLaughlin Group.
Carolyn McCarthy showed hers last week.
And more on Yale’s anti-gun idiocy from Inside Higher Ed:
It was six hours before opening night. Sarah Holdren, director of a Yale student production, had just entered the theater for a routine pre-performance errand when the man who runs the hall gave her an update: In the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings, a Yale administrator decided that she didn’t want any weapons used or portrayed during theatrical productions.
Holdren was perplexed. Her show, Red Roses, is set in the Middle Ages and includes metal swords and daggers. But they are stage props. And there were no guns.
“I understand the university’s need to react to Virginia Tech and display sensitivity, but dealing with it this way is ineffective,” she said in an interview Friday.
Holdren said her main concern wasn’t the limitation on her production but the limitation on artistic expression. She explained her objections in a Thursday meeting with Betty Trachtenberg, dean of student affairs at Yale.
According to Holdren, Trachtenberg, who did not respond to multiple messages for comment, was unmoved. Holdren said the administrator said she wanted to look out for a whole campus of potentially vulnerable undergraduates — a response that Holdren said “made it sound as if I was trying to traumatize people.”

It’s always nice to see one liberal suffering a civil rights intrusion at the hands of another. Not that the abridgment of civil rights by liberals is uncommon—it’s just that it is typically unnoticed.
The most amusing part of the article is the paraphrase of the Yale administrator:
So the same people who want to give 14 year olds sex advice and abortions without their parents’ permission or knowledge feel the need to protect the vulnerable college student.
It might be not only an issue of duncefoolery, but the kind of arrogant cowardice liberals often demonstrate:
Arrogant because, like Carter during the Olymics, they are insensitive to other people’s dreams (Carter forced the US to withdraw from the Olymics in the late 70’s as a “protest” for something or other, and the effect was that hundreds American athletes had their lifelong Olympic dreams shattered – and nothing else). Cowardly because they were so freaked out by what happened that they can’t simply suck in their collective gut and deal with a simple issue like, in this instance, abstract dramatic volence on the stage in the fine tradition of Shakespeare for 2 hours on one evening.
Arrogant, cowardly and insensitive. The true nature of far-left liberals, as amply illustrated in this news story.
