Happy Flag Day–and Happy Birthday, Army
Update: Readers note that the Google search page is not commemorating Flag Day. But guess what? Dogpile.com is:

It’s Flag Day. Hope you find a way to fly Old Glory high today. Seems like the only time it’s politically correct to display the flag anymore is if it’s being used as a prop by illegal alien activists. Remember this?

And this:

Last year during the flag wars instigated by pro-amnesty extremists, I asked readers to send in their favorite American flag photos. Jerry B. e-mailed me this photo and note: “I took this photo from the circle line on 7/22/2001. Just as I snapped the photo, a breeze put the flag on the back of the boat into the scene. Little did I know…I’m still employed by the company that was the largest tenant at the WTC, and was in lower Manhattan as the events of 9/11 were taking place. This will always be my favorite flag photo.” One of mine, too:

Here’s another lovely one reader Dane sent me last year:

Rick Moran pays tribute:
Yes, she’s a “Grand Old Flag.” A little tattered perhaps. A little careworn as a result of neglecting some of the principles on which our nation was founded; self reliance, tolerance, and that fighting for freedom is a good and sometimes necessary thing. But despite her appearance, she still flies proudly, snapping in the breeze as a reminder to all that choose to see it, that this is still the greatest country ever created filled with the most remarkable people ever born. And despite all of our problems, disagreements, mistakes, and failures, there is still no place on earth I’d rather live.
Amen to that.

Newsbusters proves my point about MSM displays of the flag: “WashPost’s Express Tabloid Marks Flag Day With Illegal Immigrant Rally Pic.”

This day in history, part two: It’s also the Army’s birthday today. Happy 232nd!
