Pro-assimilation celebs in Hollyweird?
Mary Katharine Ham spots some politically incorrect thinking in Tinseltown from an unlikely trio: Jessica Alba, Al Pacino, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Here’s a bit of what Alba told “Para Todos” magazine:
My whole life, when I was growing up, not one race has ever accepted me, … So I never felt connected or attached to any race specifically. I had a very American upbringing, I feel American, and I don’t speak Spanish. So, to say that I’m a Latin actress, OK, but it’s not fitting; it would be insincere.

I’m sure this outbreak of sanity is only a temporary condition. But enjoy it while it lasts.

Now I’m doubly in love (or is that in lust?) with Jessica Alba! Poor Tom Selleck and some of the others have been sidelined and maligned for their America-centric views. I’m glad to see some of the younger Hollywood folks speak up. Three cheers for Jessica!
I think that for most Americans this is exactly what should be and is. It is only for a minority, that by the way throw themselves out there as a race or subgroup, that they are in fact seen as that.
If people want to be treated as equals it only takes one thing, to act equal. Jessica Alba is an equal.
How getting a “brown baby” work out for her?
I actually don’t care what celebrities have to say about anything. After being bombarded by celebs all ga-ga over O-Boy for over a year, their half-baked ideas about being American mean nothing to me. Who cares what this air head with an expanded ego has to say. This reminds me of someone who said John Kerry could relate to the average American. Sorry, but people who live in their ego fed world, don’t live in our world.
