The desperate Jesse Jackson
Race hustlin’ ain’t what it used to be. The Rev-uh-rund Jesse Jackson has sunk to picketing an Illinois gun shop–to protest the murder of a young black man by black gang-bangers:
The Rev. Jesse Jackson was arrested Saturday at a demonstration outside a south suburban gun shop and charged with one count of criminal trespass to property.
Jackson was arrested when he refused to move away from the entrance to Chuck’s Gun Shop in Riverdale, police said. He has protested with other community activists outside the shop in recent weeks after a 16-year-old honor student was gunned down on a city bus.
Police said the shooting was gang-related but the teen was not the intended target.
Jackson, who says the gun shop’s proximity to Chicago provides gang members and criminals easy access to firearms, has used the protests to call for stricter gun laws.
Reduced to harrassing a gun shop instead of facing down the black gangs that are terrorizing innocent, Chicago-area students and spilling their blood. Always the consummate opportunist, Jesse Jackson once again reveals what an increasingly irrelevant moral coward he has become.

How true. Gangs have been a national problem for decades. It seems none these alleged community leaders have the vision or the guts to step up and occupy “enemy territory” like our fighting men and women in Iraq. Instead, they stand by or harass those who can help victims of gang activity defend themselves. Pitiful.
MLK must be spinning in his grave about now—knowing that his civil rights legacy has been hijacked and distorted into unrecogizability by a self-promoting, race-baiting poverty pimp named Jesse Jackson.
Pathetic, just pathetic.
Jesse is surely presidential timber.
From some of the articles I’ve read over the years, Jesse was not as close to MLK as he and others would have us believe. Like all opportunists, he moved in at a time when he would be least noticed, took advantage of his “relationship” with Dr. King and capitalized on it by pandering the race card for the next 40 plus years.
Jesse reminds me of the person who wants to win the Boston Marathon - not by running the whole distance, but by sneaking into the race at the last mile or two.
The gun shop represents all of Jesse’s opportunist targets, the easiest to attack.
I wonder how many gang punks buy guns in a gun shop?
Shame these guys can’t go after the real issues… Jackson goes after gun shop owners rather than gangs… Sharpton goes after Imus and not gangsta culture…
Decades ago, I admired Jesse Jackson. He now seeks relevancy on any issue that will get his face in the news. His devolution is quite sad. What is apparent to most conservatives is how liberals view issues upside down and backwards. Heart felt sorrow for the young man that was shot turns to blame of a gun store owner. Gang members aren’t to blame because of the repression of the white man. All these upside down, backwards reasonings just perpetuates the mind set of being a victim and reliquishes those from taking responsibility for their own actions.
Jesse Jackson, and his cohort in race-baiting Al Sharpton, have done a greater disservice to the black community over the years than most people (especially the leftist moonbats) want to believe.
I honestly do not think history will be kind to either of them, and deservedly so.
aimcifer, has it right. How about Jesse going after the gangs? He does not have the courage, that is why.
Everyone knows that Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others of their intellectual ilk are not going to allow little things like facts to get between them and a camera.
This man has been a leader for his community for over 40 years. In that time, can anyone point to anything he has done that has moved his community from the rampant poverty I grew up around in Chicago, or that I see every day in Washington, DC?
How is it that any person could dedicate 40 years of their life to anything, have nothing to show for it, and still be considered as a leader and a success? (I guess we should point that question at Congress, too)
He has failed the 11th commandment: Thou shalt not believe thine own propaganda
It is a wonder to me why more African Americans are not conservatives, given the “leadership” suppplied by Jacksom, Sharpton and their ilk.
Exactly Uplander. Does Je$$e “Ultimate Dingleberry” Jacka$$on really think gangbangers buy guns through legal means? If he does he’s even dumber than I think he is.
I think it’s just another way for him to keep his name in the news. He gets nervous and thinks people will forget about him (which they probably would given enough time) so he goes and finds a “cause” to fight for. He’s not doing a damn thing to help anybody.
Isn’t this scumbag way past his 3 times and your out.
” The Rev. Jesse Jackson was arrested Saturday at a demonstration outside a south suburban office supply store and charged with one count of criminal trespass to property.
Jackson was arrested when he refused to move away from the entrance to Office Depot in Riverdale, police said. He has protested with other community activists outside the shop in recent weeks after a 16-year-old honor student got an “F” on an essay in his composition class.
Teachers said the misspellings, bias and factual errors were reminiscent of those in many major US newspapers however, poor journalism was not the intended target.
Jackson, who says the office supply store’s proximity to Chicago provides students and journalists easy access to writing utensils and word processing programs, has used the protests to call for improved writing skills and better journalism.”
Let’s blame inanimate objects and those who sell them rather than the people who commit the acts. It is so very sad that even another murder of a teenage honor student, is insufficient to provoke the left to use common sense and courage to address the real problems.
Jesse Jackson’s protest in front of a shop selling an inanimate object is testimony to his failed leadership.
SLANDER! Has the “Reverend” given any proof of these statements he is making about the gun store selling guns to gang members???? I doubt he has any, and more specifically there isn’t any about that store selling the specific gun that was used in that murder which he was protesting. Has the “Reverend” ever heard of federal background checks? I think they would catch a gang member that was trying to buy a gun legally.
Criminals don’t obtain their guns legally. A recent report by the U.S. Department of Justice surveyed inmates in state and federal correctional facilities and asked them where they got their guns. 40% said friends and family, while another 40% got theirs via street buys and other illegal sources. 0.7 % got their guns from gun stores or gun shows (Source: Guns & Ammo Magazine, June 2007 Issue).
Jessie Jackson is a nappy headed publicity Ho!
How about a reality check here: Is a penniless gangbanger going to pay retail price for a gun when he can buy a stolen gun on the street for a tenth of its price? Here’s a shocka for ya: Criminals don’t get their guns legally.
Jesse Jackson is a shameless publicity chaser. The morning after MLK’s assassination, he showed up on TV with a shirt stained with what he claimed was Dr. King’s blood. King’s companions at the Lorraine Motel thought that was impossible since Jackson never got close to King after he was shot. Jackson will do ANYTHING for publicity.
Jackson makes his living by extorting payments from businesses with threats of ruining them with bogus complaints of racism. He pickets a gun store that has no connection with a black on black crime because that’s where the money is. You can’t squeeze extortion money out of black gangs. They don’t have any.
Jackson has been very successful at extorting money out of businesses including McDonalds and Annheiser Busch, which he launders through his Rainbow Coalition and other ways. Maybe he gets control of a Mickey D’s without paying the million dollar franchise fee or gets a beer distributorship for his son for free.
Now Al Sharpton has learned his scam and follows in his footsteps.
Of course he could ask for a crack down on black gangs, but that would be just wrong.
I suspect the honor student was skilled in elocution and spoke intelligible English. Jesse Jackson should’ve been protesting the student.
He can’t do either.
How he came to be a leader of the black community is incomprehensible.
The real problem is that a majority of the CURRENT “problems” facing those Americans with higher levels of melanin are inner city cultural issues.
Immigrants from Africa don’t seem to have the same “problems” in our society. It’s time to stop blaming admittedly racist and horrible policies from 40-50 years ago and begin working internally to change the culture of the inner cities.
Blaming others for your problems is the problem.
The fact that the existing gun laws in the US (and illinois) already stop those kids from buying guns in gun-store is - apparently - lost on the dottering old fool…
Jackson is irrelevant and deserves to be ignored…totally and completely.
Jackson was in the forefront of the effort to sue gun makers for negligence in making a product that kills people.
The city of Chicago took that case to court and lost - with a stinging ruling from the judge not to waste his time with such drivel.
And I doubt whether the gang bangers have to leave the city to buy guns. Why should they when they’re on just about every street corner, every block in the city?
Jackson’s appetite for self-aggrandizement never ceases to amaze me. Harassing a legit business to get a little publicity might very well be his low point.
Nappy headed publicity ho! I’m still trying to stop laughing.
Point #1: Chicago (like New York City, Boston, Washington DC, and a number of other major cities) has unilaterally repealed the 2nd Amendment by making it nearly impossible for anybody other than government employees to possess guns – particularly handguns. In addition Chicago requires the registration of all firearms – rifles, shotguns, etc.
Point #2: Under Federal law convicted felons can’t own guns anyway. Even if these kids are not previously convicted felons, the main point is that there are already state and federal laws that, if they worked, would have prevented this shooting.
Point #3: The two people charged with the killing are under 21 – Pace is 16 and Jones is 15. Under Illinois Law you have to be at least 18 to possess a concealable firearm (aka handgun).
Point #4: As this incident proves, gun control laws do not stop criminals from obtaining and using guns to commit their crimes. These laws just create a pool of easy victims for the bad guys.
Point #5: Given his vocal anti-gun rhetoric over many years, Je$$e Jack$son must be aware of at least the first three items above, and probably all of them.
Conclusion: Jack$son, and his troop of sycophants (including Pfleger) are moral/ethical retards who are in this for reasons other than the safety and well-being of their so-called constituency. Otherwise they would be dealing with the core issues that lead to these gang problems, instead of picking on some hapless guy named Chuck in Riverdale.
I always believed that “The Justice Brothers”, i.e. Jackson and Sharpton are the ones mostly responsible for hate and racism that exists today . Unlike their brother Bill Cosby who stresses independence and hard work, Jackson and Sharpton simply blame society for their supposed ills.
After the Duke travesty….where are they? They are not apologizing for convicting three young men who were deemed innocent. Noooooooo, they have more important issues rather than apologies for mistakes made. I wish we could get back to life prior to political correctness. These two are worthy of many words.
Will someone please tell me exactly which “civil rights” Blacks are deprived of and are therefore seeking? To me, the constant screaming for “civil rights” is really nothing more than a child-like demand that every thought and behavior be embraced and accepted. Americans are without a doubt the most tolerant people on the face of the earth. There is a fundamental difference, however, between tolerance and acceptance…
Thats not necessary.
It’s really quite a shame. If Jesse Jackson had spent all his energy actually trying in constructive ways to help , instead of shaking down business and playing the race card victim…. he could have actually done some good. But alas he totally missed his chance and is so far down into the hole he has dug for himself…well it would take being totally honest with himself and the rest of the world for him to turn himself around…. And somehow I just dont think that will ever happen.
Jesse Jackson’s style is extremely old. He is free to what he wish. I am silent on him Michelle.
how shamlessly, jackson and shapton use REV” they are thugs with a collor,
im happy to read that not one on this blog has given them that title, they are not reverand!
Michelle, in all fairness I have to respond to your statement that “Reduced to harassing a gun shop instead of facing down the black gangs that are terrorizing innocent..”
I have seen with my own eyes Fr. Pfleger (Jesse’s cohort on these anti gun protests) face down gang members in his neighborhood.
While they are both infamous firebrands, I do believe Fr Pfleger is trying to do what he can for people he cares very very deeply about. It’s just that his method for controlling violence by targeting gun shop owners does not and will not work.
This is the third week in a row that they have protested at this gun shop, and Jesse has vowed to return next Friday. So, I think I’ll have to stop in with my family and show my support, maybe get the kids a new shotgun.
I wonder how much the gun shop owner will have to contribute to the Rainbow Coalition?
Jackson was with one of the other stars of the Chicagoland victimhood scene: Mike “the Flogger” Phleger.
He is a first-rate douchebag in his own right, and the embarrassment of every right thinking Chicago Catholic.
You may feel very strongly about this, Dread Pirate, but please try not to use that word or other disrespectful words here. Thanks.
Jessie Jackson:
I speak for all black people.
Just ask me.
I prefer the words of this author that lent her voice to the fight for saving her own black grandchild, and many more like them:
rel·e·vant /ˈrɛləvənt/ –adjective
bearing upon or connected with the matter in hand; pertinent: a relevant remark.
Mr. Jacksons lack of relevancy is the most striking attribute of a wilted career. I must admit to a very un-Christian chortle escaping at his antics. Poor besotted bastard that he is, he can only go for the main fall back issue of the lefties - guns.
Unless you are Michelle or her husband in phantom- when did you elect yourself arbiter?
Jesse Jackson has disrespected entire races. I don’t recall him apologizing to me.
Granted ‘name calling’ isn’t the most tactful way to advance an opinion but it certainly doesn’t warrant some kind of PC smackdown from a self-elected spokesman.
I’m reminded of a funny joke I saw as an act in a circus.
Scene: Clown #1 walking all over the lighted ring looking for something.
Clown #2: What are you doing?
Clown #1: I’m looking for my ball that I lost backstage.
Clown #2: Then why are you looking for it here?
Clown #1: The light’s better out here.
No he needs to be laughed at and ridiculed for the fool he is.
Not mine.
Thomas,
Which, “douchebag” or “flogger”?
Needless to say, disrespectul expressions are generally a product of a lack of respect. Need I say more?
Sorry, Craig. He’s right. Scatological terms like _____Bag have no place on this site.
(Sigh) There are 60,000 words in the English language - many of them wonderful Anglo-Saxon derivatives. “Cad” is one my favorites. Also “pea wit.” Much better than the other, no?
When I read “Unhinged,” I was amazed by the foul mouthed rantings from the left-populated webpages and blogs. I really don’t think that we should encourage similar comments here … by not calling them out as unwanted, abd possibly embarrassing to us all. And I especially don’t want to see some quotes taken from here to be reprinted in someone else’s book, as an example of how conservatives behave on this web page. Do you understand?
That picture of him is nice. This extortionist belongs behind bars!
If Jackson truly wants to do something constructive, he’d do well to approach the rich celebrities, rappers and hip-hop artists who are devastating the inner cities with their support of hoodlums and their “no snitching” threats.
Jackson’s name should read Messy, not Jessie.
Who said anything about ‘encouraged’? I understand you perfectly. Obviously, you don’t understand me. This is Michelle’s column, not yours.
He should leave the shops alone. He needs to remember we have a second amendment.
(PS- I like the Articles of Confederation better)
