I'm curious as to how many previous arrests (for any reason) this person had prior to his destruction of this precious child and his family.

Is this the first time he was arrested (which does not in any way excuse him or the system)? Or as is the case in many of the instances like this I've heard about, did he get arrested numerous times and the local authorities not identify him as illegal or notified ICE and was told to let him go?

Or is there one or more judges out there that let him go with a slap on the wrist but failed to address the immigration issue? Or as is many times the case, does he live in a sanctuary city where every level of government is responsibile for this child?

This sounds like a job for O'Reilly. Are you listening bil?

Illegal aliens - murdering those that Americans refuse to kill.

Wouldn't be surprised if the car and liquor were stolen and he didn't give a care in the world as to the consequences of his actions.

I know how this mother feels and what she is thinking. I don't want to hijack the thread, but she makes a reasoned, tender response to the pain and suffering that lack of enforcement caused.

Her cause is mine.

And Geraldo Rivera keeps bleating that "illegals commit crimes at a lower rate than the general public."

To this family the rate is 100%.

What a horrific story on such a horrific day. What those like Gerry Rivers and the Swimmer don't get is that if they had been stopped at the border and never got in, little Alex and thousands of others would still be alive. Yes, drunk driving by legal citizens is a problem and the deaths they cause are no less important but what the idiots fail to realize is that these people shouldn't have been here in the first place.
As for #5, I would venture a guess you're not a parent yet. As doppelganglander said, it's not a something one can accept in a day or longer, you know the old "where there's life, there's hope", even if that "life" is supported by artificial means.
Our laws have failed us and so has our politicians. They're more interested in their own gains then then what is best for the country. Others have mentioned the fall of the Roman Empire today, I'm afraid we're on the cusp of the same.

Radley:

I see your point - but, speaking as a parent - I can definitely understand this family's reluctance to 'pull the plug', if I can use such a crude term.

I think it would take me a while to agree with the Doctor's conclusion and give up on the life of my child.

I think your thought process is correct - but in an instance such as this, it's hard to fault the parents for holding on to any shred of hope they could find within themselves.

How heartbreaking. How many Americans have to die before our so-called leaders wake up?

#5 radley, it probably took the family 19 days to be able to accept the inevitable. Not everyone can make a horrible decision like taking your baby off life support in 15 minutes.

I was also involved in a car accident several years ago where a drunk illegal immigrant without a license or insurance failed to obey the rules of the road then fled the scene. Fortunately, the police caught him. Unfortunately, the court system refunded the bail money someone put up for him instead of applying it to the restitution to get my car fixed. Thank God all I lost was a few hundred bucks and not the lives of any of my loved ones. My heart goes out to the Tsiju family.

What a horrible tragedy. In the light of stories like this, when I think about the Senators who are trading their votes for quid pro quos on Capitol Hill it literally makes me sick.

Why do I imagine the amnesty gang looks at this story and thinks the problem is that the illegal wasn’t able to get a state drivers license? The dead child is just white noise in the background to them, I suppose.

You are 100% correct, when I lived in California that was the argument made to give them licenses. " If they are allowed to get drivers licences they will then follow the rules of the road and stand a higher chance of getting insurance " HUH ? Well lately this same argument has been starting to surface in Oregon as well ....
Wanted to buy : State that enforces the laws.

Question:

Is John Cornyn citing stories like this; the destruction and further the terrorist security threat?

I know Kennedy is like a parrot, "Jobs Americans don't want".

If the answer is No, then Amnesty should go forward. We lose. Plain and simple, the most clever will always win.

The point being, if we lose we did something wrong.

Back to work ...
