A Sunday prayer for Matthew
I hope you can take a few moments out of your day to add Matthew Rager to your thoughts and prayers. Reader Eric e-mails:
Our son Matthew was just diagnosed with a brain tumor and surgery is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday July 3rd. He’s 5 years old (he’ll be 6 in July).
We are strong believers in the sovereignty of God and his use of prayer in His plan. Our hope is that over 1000 people will pray for him specifically on his day of surgery.
A friend helped us set up a website with updates on Matthew’s situation here.
Matthew’s favorite subject is Math:

I will keep Matthew and his family in my prayers. I nearly lost my husband this past spring. Doctors didn’t think he would survive, but our prayers were answered. Time and time again, he made it through one crisis after another and there is no doubt in my heart that there was divine intervention. Prayer works. It heals and it gives family strength.
Strength and healing is derived through prayer, and Matthew will be in mine and my family’s.
Count me in.
Will do, Michelle, my best wishes to the family in this difficult time.
God bless.
What a privilege it is to pray for this boy, whose family recognizes God’s sovereignty. That says a bunch. Thanks Michelle, and pass this along to other believers! Let’s break the 1,000 mark!
I know first hand that amazing things do happen. Two and a half years ago we were told my son would die. Now he’s upstairs refusing to go down for a nap…
Count me in as part of the 1000.
Our prayers are with Matthew and his family.
God be with you Matthew!
Matthew, you and your family will be in my daily prayers and on July 3rd. Believe in the cure.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you. Psalm 55:22
Will keep him in my prayers…
I’ll be praying for Matthew and his family.
Of course, and Godspeed to your son. I’ll “send a memo to the boss” asap.
It’s wonderful to see reponses to something like this. I wonder if it ever happens on blogsites run by “sensitive” progressive-secularists? An abject lesson in reality.
My prayers today are for you my young friend.
Consider it done.
Very Respectfully,
The Timster
May God bless and see both he and his family through this trying time.
My thoughts and prayers are with Matthew and his family.
Absolutely. Bless you all. Michelle, bless you for your courage and heart to post this, for God, and for Matthew ,and for the family of Matthew.
We’ve been promised that we can do all that Jesus did, AND MORE!
The power of prayer is awesome and we claim good health for Matthew in the name of Jesus Christ.
Awesome.
I will put Matt on a prayer list, if it’s OK with the family.
Dictum Factum!
No sooner said than done!
On my prayers, one among many.

I too will keep Matthew and his family in my prayers. I have gone through several bouts with serious illness. I have been on life support (a breathing machine and tube feeding) five times in as many years, and have had three surgeries. The doctors told my family several times that they didn’t believe that I would make it. We had people from all over the country praying for both my family and I during these episodes. I now am out of the hospital, I am able to walk (although with severe limitations), and I use my time now to blog.
My God is an awesome God who can make the blind see, the lame walk, heal the sick, and turn water into wine. I pray that He will use this time if trial to both strenghten and bless Matthew and his family.

Matt and Family,
Please keep up hope that everything will come out okay. I was dianogosed with a Level 4 brain tumor last Thanksgiving. It was completely removed and hopefully it will not recur. Matt, you are in my prayers.

Matthew will be covered with prayer before the Lord. We also pray for Michelle for her courage in posting against so much evil in the world. Thanks Michelle for making room in your site for this family and their need at this time.
Prayers going up,
and the message being forwarded to many prayer warriors!

I undertake that tomorrow at 7:00 pm my time (8:00 pm Eastern) I will say a Rosary that Matthew’s operation goes well. Anyone who does the same at that time will be joining me…who knows?perhaps we will end up with a group.
Matthew is a great name for a little guy — I named my fist kid Matthew also. Luv him like crazy.
Our family will keep your boy in our thoughts & prayers.

Just spent a few quiet minutes offering prayer for this little guy and his parents. I’ll keep him in my heart all day. Please post a follow-up when he’s out of surgery.
Does anyone have an update on the surgery?
I went to the link and it hasn’t been updated since yesterday morning.

On the most recent page of comments there’s one from the mother of a girl who has an inoperable brain tumor. If you’re so inclined, you might try your luck there, too. And for those of you who know the monicker “burrhog,” please keep Keith Johnston in your prayers, please.
