A Sunday prayer for Matthew

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 1, 2007 12:29 PM

I hope you can take a few moments out of your day to add Matthew Rager to your thoughts and prayers. Reader Eric e-mails:

Our son Matthew was just diagnosed with a brain tumor and surgery is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday July 3rd. He’s 5 years old (he’ll be 6 in July).

We are strong believers in the sovereignty of God and his use of prayer in His plan. Our hope is that over 1000 people will pray for him specifically on his day of surgery.

A friend helped us set up a website with updates on Matthew’s situation here.

Matthew’s favorite subject is Math:

I will keep Matthew and his family in my prayers. I nearly lost my husband this past spring. Doctors didn’t think he would survive, but our prayers were answered. Time and time again, he made it through one crisis after another and there is no doubt in my heart that there was divine intervention. Prayer works. It heals and it gives family strength.

Of course, and Godspeed to your son. I’ll “send a memo to the boss” asap.

It’s wonderful to see reponses to something like this. I wonder if it ever happens on blogsites run by “sensitive” progressive-secularists? An abject lesson in reality.

The power of prayer is awesome and we claim good health for Matthew in the name of Jesus Christ.
    Awesome.
I will put Matt on a prayer list, if it’s OK with the family.

I too will keep Matthew and his family in my prayers. I have gone through several bouts with serious illness. I have been on life support (a breathing machine and tube feeding) five times in as many years, and have had three surgeries. The doctors told my family several times that they didn’t believe that I would make it. We had people from all over the country praying for both my family and I during these episodes. I now am out of the hospital, I am able to walk (although with severe limitations), and I use my time now to blog.

My God is an awesome God who can make the blind see, the lame walk, heal the sick, and turn water into wine. I pray that He will use this time if trial to both strenghten and bless Matthew and his family.
