Where in the world is Michael Chertoff?
When he’s not maligning immigration enforcement proponents or fretting about lettuce-pickers, DHS chief Michael Chertoff spends his time…rubbing elbows with shady imams:
The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, is planning to visit a Shi’ite mosque in Dearborn on Tuesday. Chertoff is to be at the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center, department spokeswoman Veronica Valdes said. The mosque has a largely Iraqi-American congregation.
He will meet with the center’s imam, Husham Al-Husainy, and other religious leaders during a private meeting.
Husham Al-Husainy. Does the name ring a bell? If so, you’ve been paying attention to Debbie Schlussel’s reporting. Too bad Michael Chertoff hasn’t been doing the same. Schlussel writes today:
As you’ll recall, I’ve written a lot about Al-Husainy over the years. I mentioned him two years ago in the Wall Street Journal. More recently, I wrote about Al-Husainy, last year, when I went undercover to a closed Hezbollah rally, and I wrote extensively about him at the beginning of the year after Saddam Hussain’s hanging, and later, when Al-Husainy delivered the invocation at the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting, including in the New York Post (Sean Hannity blatantly ripped off my work on Al-Husainy).
Since Al-Husainy has been an open supporter of Hezbollah and anti-Semitic hate, it’s an outrage that Chertoff would go to Dearbornistan to kiss his ass.
But it’s especially an outrage since agents in Chertoff’s own department are well-versed on Al-Husainy, who has made several recent trips to Iran (his son went, but traveled separately), and who is believed to be sending millions of dollars overseas–perhaps to terrorists–in violation of the Patriot Act. It is well-known that Al-Husainy–who is a supporter of the Jaish Al-Mahdi (the Mahdi Army terrorist group) and its leader Moqtada Al-Sadr–is an agent of the Ahmadinejad government in Iran. (He also advised Iranian-backed candidates for Iraqi Prime Minister and Parliament.) And he has publicly engaged in all kinds of conspiracy theories against America, Israel, and Jews, er . . . “Zionists.”
One other thing on Al-Husainy: Last summer, he coordinated the trips of Nturei Kartah Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss and other rabbis to come repeatedly to Detroit for Hezbollah rallies, at one of which, Al-Husainy remarked, “We make a great time, don’t we?” of the Rabbis. They later appeared at an Iranian Holocaust Denial Conference hosted by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Since no-one believes that these trips have been self-financed by the fringe, self-hating rabbis, it is believed that Al-Husainy is the conduit for Iranian funding for the rabbis.
Al-Husainy was last seen giving an invocation for the DNC winter meeting. Video flashback here.
Maybe Chertoff’s “awesome” pal Teddy Kennedy gave the imam a referral.

Sort of makes you want to just give up. We have gone from refusing to name or identify the enemy to openly courting the enemy. Simultaneously, the left wants to take away our rights to defend ourselves. Makes me want to run to the store, stock up on ammo and non-perishables and lock the door. Unenergized base doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Chertoff is a dolt.
Yep, Chertoff-his-rocker needs to step down.
Just another traitor in our leadeship.
I am at a loss for words about Chertoff.
OT Debbie Schlussel is intelligent and informative. I have seen her post on Hot Air a time or two. She needs to drop how she is always being ripped off. Everywhere she is posted will come with a rip-off complaint.
Sorry, that was my rant for the day. Hey, it’s Monday give a guy a break.
There is something about Chertoff I have never liked or trusted. This whole thing is so disturbing! What’s wrong with our government? We are seeing a giant disconnect between the people and their government! Imam schmimam…..send them packing.
If “we” stopped the Illegal Alien Subsidy Bill, then can’t “we” get this Snake thrown out of his job as Director Of Jihadi Security? Isn’t he the one that signed off on giving security tours to CAIR at American airports? Isn’t he the one that botched the interagency cooperation (along with Mikey Brown) during the Katrina disaster? Isn’t he the one who overstepped his position into USDA territory by declaring the reason why “we” needed the Shamnesty bill was because there was a rotting lettuce crisis? Nuke the putz.
This is a true statement. Most of Schlussel’s accusations of theft are simply the reporting of information which she has written about. Yes, it’s sometimes obvious that they had read her blog in doing their research, but there’s nothing wrong with this. I’ve seen no word for word quotes, and I’ve seen none of the accused taking credit for the research.
It’s too bad really, because I love reading her blog, but the accusation of plagiarism every time someone mentions something she’s written about is getting annoying.
You’re either with us or against us………or if you can’t beat them join them. Lettuce for everybody!!!!!!!!!!
A friend/mentor once told me that “first rate leaders hired first rate staff. But a second rate leader will hire 3rd rate staff.”
In looking at who GW has surounded himself with (Condi, Chertoff, Cheney, Rove, etc.) it’s apparent that he’s in the second group.
Get rid of this putz GW.
One of many examples demonstrating the Department of Homeland Insecurity pandering to those who want to slit our throats. There is only one Government agency working hard to protect us unfortunately they are deployed all over the world trying to fight the threat with one hand tie behind their backs instead of being allowed to protect our borders (killing them over there is much better than having to fight them here). Meanwhile Chertoff’s gang of bumbling bureaucrats are too busy jacking-up Grandma as she tries to board an airliner because she set off the metal detector for wearing an under wire bra, while being too sensitive to do someone screeching Allah Akbar at the boarding gate and acting suspiciously.
i give up…going gun and ammo shopping make sure I have what I need to protect what’s mine. If I go down it will be after putting up the good fight.
I guess Bush/Chertoff wants to punish his base for not letting the shamnesty through by making nice with our enemies? What next?
Maybe he’s just following the old adage about keeping your enemies close to you .
Maybe they are just giving up minor info like airport security to gain some major intel about Osama.
Our President and company are acting outside of any reasonable , logical or sane boundaries.
When this happens Congress is supposed to step in and find a solution. But we have adults in DC acting like spoiled children.
I have to believe that some among them will take control and show true strength and leadership .Dispite pelosi and reid.

Only Tom Tancredo seems to be saying/doing the right things. All he needs is a chance.
Looks like Chertoff is looking out for us again. He should had sent the FBI !!
Makes you wonder if Bush changed parties and forgot to notify us

.. as they say “Fish starts rotting in the head”.
This story is potentially very damning - if it can be corroborated by a source with more credibility than Debbie Schlussel. To call that shrew the Michael Moore of the right would be terribly unfair - to Moore.
“You’re doing a great job, Chertie.”
The lucky ones in LA can thank Mayor (Falling in Love Again) Tony V for appointing a director of Homeland Security. Too bad she is a Latino activist and Mecha member in college. So we will at lest give up sovereignty without any casualties–oh, wait, I guess we already did.
Funny, he wouldn’t meet with MM though. Maybe he admires the Imam for “keeping women in their place.”
Homeland Security could at least change it’s name. Perhaps, Homeland Treason, or Homeland Wankers. I don’t know, what do you guys think?
Here’s the info on Osama: he’s dead. Long dead and buried under tons of rock. Give nothing to our enemies.
As for XLRQ, gee, I wonder why ICE agents sought me out and contacted me to meet with me on Imam Al-Husainy and asked me if I would be a confidential informant. Fortunately, you and Michael Moore have no influence on their investigations.
For those ranting that they are upset when I speak out against plagiarism of my work, did you defend Jayson Blair? Joe Biden? Did exposing their theft of others’ work annoy you? Didn’t think so. As you will note, people like Michelle, Rush, Robert Spencer, Charles Johnson always give credit, have ethics, and do not rip people off. That’s the difference.
On the contrary, Sean Hannity ripped off my work and admitted it to me on the phone. Ditto for a producer of another national radio show about which I commented on Hot Air, who admitted he read word for word from my column, uncredited, but he made amends. Not sure where you learned your definition of plagiarism, but that’s plagiarism. If you use my work–as Hannity repeatedly has (including reading it word for word on his radio show) and don’t credit me, that’s plagiarism. Plain and simple. I never volunteered to be his free ghostwriter. Do you work for free all day long? Can I have your paycheck? If you think that’s okay when it’s my property, can I come to your house or bank and help myself to yours? Didn’t think so. For those who are annoyed, some day, if your your hard work is ever ripped off-without an easy-to-do attribution or credit, we’ll see how you like it. Until then, perhaps a reminder is in order that conservatives are against theft and respect property rights. If you don’t agree, are you really a conservative? Not actually.

You don’t have much class, do you.
That was a rhetorical question.
Maybe he’s arranging for the mosque members to help with the much-needed lettuce picking?
Debbie has spoken ! I hope you feel better . What is with this anti-Debbie talk. She shares the same views as most of us here and does something about it . Debbie don’t assume that is the majority opinion here.
For those saying “I give up.”, please don’t. This is actually a VERY good opportunity to remove this ineffective bureaucratic parasite from his position. If people like Michelle, Debbie and other bloggers make an effort, it might shine a light on something the administration and the congress don’t want to deal with so soon after the immigration debacle. It might be easier to just get rid of him than try and do damage control. So don’t give up, raise your voice to your congressman, your senator and even the Whitehouse. It’s only been a couple weeks since a major victory by the people and the alternative media and already it seems we have forgotten.
