Gayle,

I agree that Newt would be the best, but he was so horribly maligned by the press that I don’t feel he could win. However, don’t base your support on idealism – this is a practical war. Whomever the Republican candidate is will be closer to our values than a Dem. I know it sometimes hurts to have to choose the lesser of two evils, but for God’s sake – literally(!) – don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater!

I would support Newt if he decides to give it a run.

To me, he IS the only viable candidate at this juncture.

He won’t get the support he needs unfortunately, but he truly is a conservative. IMHO.

If you are being sarcastic, don’t: most DC insiders on either side listen to the sound of jingling coins, and closing the purse strings is the fastest way to get their attention. Besides, all that dough get’s saved up in pockets in one way or another, and the first one with the right message wins the lottery, so to speak.

If you are a Dem who really is rejoicing, don’t celebrate so fast: only Goofy the Dog loses against poll match-ups with Hillary, and at least Repubs stick to their guns on issues.

Remember, too, that people “get real” as we close in to the days of the actual vote on election. If Dims think they can win with the Hillary-Monster as their standard-bearer, then they are dreaming about the election as much as they about actually impeaching Bush or buying carbon offsets.

By the way, say “Hi” to Andomeda for me.

Some of the commenters have indicated that they feel uncomfortable with the anti-bortion issue of the Rep. as just one of the problems that is facing the unity of the conservative party. I for one feel the same. Please understand that a least 40% of the Rep. party does not feel comfortable with anti-abortion talk. As a whole, the nation is basically prochoice. Now you will continue to beat this horse to death and wind up with Hillary as president. Forget the issue. It is over. The horse is out of the barn. The country is not going to go back to a anti-abortion concept like in the 50’s. If it does, that will only mean a vast number on illegal procedures that will force the politicians to go back to the present structure. In the meantime, you are using this issue to chose leaders like Bush and see what a poor choice that was. The politicians are milking this and making those of you who feel that this is an issue think they care. They don’t. No more that Vitter felt that “family values” was something to aspire to (I like Vitter by the way and think he is someone worth keeping despite his warts). I can assure you that when you go to church and the preacher begins to go on about abortion, he likely has had one preformed on one of his girl friends. I am in the know on this and can assure you that your leaders in this effort are the very ones who use the service, unless they are into young boys.

I would like to be a republican Michelle. I just don’t know which “wing” I would be part of: libertarian wing, anti-war wing, far right-wing or the Christian wing. Anyway, I have racial problems with the Republican Party.

My State of Michigan GOP headquarted called me up and asked for money. Not only am I infuriated at the latest actions of the national RINO leaders, and the whole immigration debacle, but I’m likewise infuriated at the horrible predicament that Michigan’s government is in (20 years of 85% GOP rule).

I told the nice lady that I’d send money when the GOP leadership wanted my opinion too.

I agree with the Independant Conservative: all this Thompson glorification while he hangs back looking adorable is getting on my nerves. Besides, talk is cheap and he essentially has no record whatsoever to run on – Hillary will eat him alive co-opting Bill’s record and that’ll be that in the Socialist States of America.

I think the major player who stops being afriad of 12 million illegal immigrants who can’t vote and starts making some good old down home speeches about tough immigration is going to land on Free Parking and get the cash.

Dems block Fairness Doctrine Amendment, if they are not going to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, this is what alot of Dems say, then how come they are blocking legislation to keep the option open?
