Au contraire, McCain became the fair-haired boy of the MSM with CFR, while most of the American public greeted it with a giant yawn — too complicated and remote for the average voter to even understand.

I would bet that his media triumph with CFR led him to fool himself into thinking that amnesty — another issue the MSM loudly supports — would bring him even more accolades, and the nomination.

Unfortunately, being a member of the elite 100-club, John had no idea that he was walking into a mine field. Contrary to CFR, amnesty is something that the majority of Americans can personally relate with negativity — either because they’ve had to deal with illegals personally in their own little corner of the US, or because they or their ancestors chose the long hard path to legal immigration.

It is nice to see, the unlike the US Congress, illegal alien enforcement in Arizona actually has some greenbacks and state prosecutors to back it up. I await the first arrests and convictions.

Count me as one who hopes he doesn’t drop out right away. The shamnesty’s dead till ’09 regardless and being a presidential candidate gets him better coverage for his pro-victory speeches. The best thing he could do at this point would be to announce he’s putting the campaign on hold till after the mid-September Iraq showdown in Congress. Depending on how that goes he might look like a viable candidate again by the end of the year.

Those staffers leaving are just the other shoe dropping from last week’s firing of the campaign manager. It was pretty much expected by campaign watchers so I don’t know if this puts McCain any closer to quitting or not.

I really don’t think he’s going to bow out until he at least sees whether he can still raise some money – which means sometime in September before the bell tolls on his campaign.

I do not believe that his stance supporting the War in Iraq, which is really the war against Islamic terrorism, is the reason for his failure. He is simply horribly inconsistent and his illegal immigration stance was the last straw for anyone who actually thought he could be an effective candidate. I suspect that his senate seat is also at risk because Arizona has just voted in one of the most stringent illegal alien employer laws in the country. (Of course, the Arizona law may very well have no money and no real enforcement behind it – but that remains to be seen. At least state employers are on notice that the hiring of illegals can have serious consequences.)

Whenever Fred announces, if he announces at the right time, he’ll win the nomination. I see no good reason for him to announce earlier than Labor Day. OTOH, McCain is going to wait for the New Hampshire results before considering giving up. So, get used to waiting, folks.

I presumed that McCain campaign would be finished after the 4th of July and offically dead by July 31, 2007. I sure wish July would hurry up and be over.. come on August.

Stale left over McCain campaign. The Media wants it to be over the war and not over the immigration. they just don’t get us conservatives.. heard some talking heads arguing over it, one saying it was the war the other saying it was immigration. the lefty said well conservative independents were disgusted with him over the war.. Since when do independents decide who becomes the Republican nominee?? geesh.. they just can’t imagine that it wouldn’t be over the war…dhimmies are dumb..
