Cuba attacks US for not allowing more people to escape its miserable Commie regime
How do you say “chutzpah” in Spanish:
Cuba said Tuesday the United States has fallen behind in the number of visas allotted for Cubans, suggesting this was a deliberate attempt by the Bush administration to stir trouble on the island.
Cuba’s foreign ministry said the United States had only awarded 10,724 visas in the nine-month period ending June 30, or 54 percent of the 20,000 annual quota of visas agreed to in the 1994 migration accords.
A U.S. failure to meet its quota would be a ”grave and unjustifiable” violation of the agreements, according to a statement published in Tuesday’s edition of the Communist Party Granma newspaper.
The United States and Cuba have often traded allegations that the other uses migration for political ends, but the matter is especially sensitive now, after a sick Fidel Castro handed power to his brother Raúl last summer — setting the stage for the first leadership transition in nearly half a century.
The migration accords were designed to discourage illegal crossings of the Florida Straits by providing a safe way for Cubans to leave, but Cuba now suggests the Bush administration is deliberately slowing the process.
The Cuba statement asks whether President Bush’s desire for change on the island was behind the delay in granting visas, “even though this provokes a situation of instability that would almost surely also affect the United States.”
Yeah, that’s a threat.

Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t.
But… the healthcare is so great there! Why would they want to leave that behind? Don’t they know they’ll die a horrible death of oppressive control via our healthcare?
where is michael moore? we must get his take on this! alas, people want to leave the perfect country of cuba and their wonderful socialized medicine for….aghast!… the US and its degraded third world medical care…
did they even think that maybe the illegal situation as contributed to our now third world record of medical care??? naw that would be too logical..i forgot we’re dealing with libtards
Knowing that you have the support of the liberal MSM behind you means that you can say the most ridiculous things, and then have the same construed as thoughtful crtism. Oh, and it’s Bush’s fault.
It is like that scene from “Blazing Saddles.” Threating everyone by holding a gun to your head. If you don’t something, I’ll shoot! The very lives and future of the Cuban people being played out by Castro as a comedy routine.
chutzpah= ?que nerveo or Que huevon(tex-mex slang, phase) Answer to question on MM’s front page.

I’m so tired of libs propping up this brownshirt murdering maniac. He’s got a special hotseat in hell waiting for him, right next to Hitler, Uncle Joe Stalin and Vlad “the Impaler” Tepes. No amount of “free healthcare” can erase the bloodstains on his hands.
What would be the consequence for Latin America if this repulsive man were to die, and his planned successor be toppled and replaced with a real free democratic government?
How many well educated, hard working Cuban-Americans would return to rebuild their homeland?
Before Castro, Cuba was a paradise resort, and could be again. How would the Cuban economy prosper if Havana became once again the Las Vegas of the Carribean, 90 miles from affluent Florida?
How many Cubans would like to have well paying jobs with benefits, and a daily chance at fat tips from the well heeled jet set of North America and Europe?
What would the Cuban health system look like with all that wealth from a thriving international tourist economy flowing into a newly free democracy with the expertise of American educated Cubans showing the people the true power of a representative republic, and how all people can be a part of it?
How many airliners, private jets, cruise liners and private yachts would flock to the newly free tropical island?
Of course there is already a force for freedom there, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, who I’m sure would be more than glad to run a ” Marshall Plan” for a free Cuba from Gitmo. Think tsunami aid, but we’ve already got a large base established. There have to be some contingincy plans somewhere in the Pentagon for this type of scenario.
Great things for all Cubans would be abundant if they could shake off the shackles of socialism and join the free world, and it would be faster than anyone dares to hope right now.
These are my thoughts about the future of Cuba. All of these things and more could happen, if only Cuba could bury Castro, and his ideology with him.
To pirate the phrase of Micheal Ledeen, faster please.
…and free tuition for all.
“Cuba attacks US for not allowing more people to escape its miserable Commie regime”
After the amnesty legislation died, could this be re-written as:
Mexico attacks US for not allowing more people to escape its miserable Socialist regime
It’s really annoying, but I can’t read babalublog.com. It is blocked for “Adult/Mature Content”.
Brian72:
You are SO right! I’ve been saying similar things about Cuba for years (to anyone who’ll listen to me. haha)
Cube ~could~ be such a wonderful place… it has great good, culture, music, beaches, etc. etc.
Such a damn silly waste.
Kettle, meet smelting pot.
Of course Cuba is complaining that “the U.S. failure to meet its quota” is ”grave and unjustifiable”. Th reasoning behind it is simple: Cuba’s number one export – the only export that brings cuba almost a billion a year in US dollars – is the Cuban exile. The Cuban government forcibly separates the Cuban family, thus ensuring that those allowed to leave said much needed cash back to their families in dire need. The government first takes 20 percent right off the top, and then the rest as the government runs everything on the island.
Yes, Cuba could become the miracle of Latin America. I just wish it would be allowed to happen.
I want my cake and to eat it as well: Cuba as a democracy is compelling, and I would join the millions eager to explore probably the most significant island in the Caribbean as well as admire the vintage and venerable Detroit Iron still gracing it’s shores, soon to be replaced by Pacific Rim appliances. At the same time, I don’t want to lose the Cubans now living in the U. S. They are a productive and mercantile group whose migration would leave a major chasm in the region.
Castro – the original Pirate of the Caribbean
The castro government is always blaming others, mainly the US, as a way to divert attention from all the destruction he has caused in Cuba and everywhere else he has invaded. Castro is even more of a sicko than Michael Moore.
… Cajones! (ka-hone-ez)
Would it make them feel better if we just gave them Michael Moore? Then he could take the best of American healthcare, incorporate it into the great cuban medical system and create the greatest medical system in the world. Just think, from #39 to #1 in just a few short months.
And being #1, they wouldn’t be able to give away visas to leave.
/sarc
The U.S. immigration system is “deliberately” doing something???
As far as I can tell our system is so broken that the U.S. immigration system can’t do ANYTHING deliberately…
This actually made me chuckle. Maybe all the Cuban visa aps ended up in the paper shredder.
Ok…what a minute! Now, I’m a bit confused here. All the Left is saying how wonderful Cuba is and how their citizens get so much from the government. Chavez wants to model his country after Cuba too. And, didn’t Michael Moore just “prove” to us that their healthcare system is superior to ours? That’s my confusion. Why would anyone want to leave Cuba and come to this “miserable” country. Must be some sort of mistake. Wait! If you substitute United States for Cuba, and vice versa….ah…now it makes sense!
I don’t know about chutzpah, but mierda de toro comes to mind otherwise.
let’s give them michael moore in exchange for his weight in cubans…
Whoa gippergirl, don’t go overboard there!
Who would be left in Cuba to free it?
Hahahahaha!!!!!!!! Then we could successfully expand Club Gitmo…c’mon get w/the program! And as Dennis Miller said “what happens at Gitmo STAYS at Gitmo.”
several years ago on -was it 60 minutes? – there was a report on the treatment of aids patients in cuba. they are put in quarantine. not likely moonbats want the masses to know this.
Club Gitmo: your tropical retreat from the stress of jihad!
We actually had the head of the Cuban Mission to the UN come speak to our class. His beef with the US was that we did not allow ENOUGH Cubans to come to the United States and did NOT allow Cuba to be exploited by American Capitalism
