Gitmo catch and release

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 17, 2007 04:03 PM

Hmmm. Am I the only one who has a bad feeling about this:

Sixteen Saudis have been transferred from the US prison in Guantanamo Bay to Riyadh, and immediately detained by authorities, US and Saudi officials said.

At least 53 Saudi nationals remain incarcerated at the US military facility in Cuba, Major-General Mansour al-Turki told the official Saudi Press Agency.

He said a total of 77 Saudis have now been returned from Guantanamo.

A Pentagon statement said: “These detainees were determined to be eligible for transfer following a comprehensive series of review processes conducted at Guantanamo Bay.”

Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, the Saudi interior minister, on Monday expressed his satisfaction with the level of co-operation between his country and Washington.

SPA quoted him as saying King Abdullah, the Saudi ruler, is keen to free all detainees held at the controversial detention camp.

If it were any other country I’d be worried. But I think that there’s a good chance that they’ll just be stoned to death or beheaded…it is Saudi Arabia after all.

Let’s just wait it out. If any of those that were released pop up on the radar again that will be just one more check mark against the Dems. I will bet that some of those will surface. Gitmo needs to stay open.

I don’t have enough information on the Saudis detainees. There’re enemy combatants, that’s for sure. But where is the documentation? I don’t like all this secret squirrel stuff. You could always say it’s in the interest of national security, but so is a border fence. Do we have one?

yeah, we may as well just drop them off in the green zone, cause that is where they are headed.. why not just save the red tape of sending them to Saudi Arabia. we can send them to fight in Iraq.

Except, Islam permits beheadings for crimes against the innocent” and infidels are “guilty” of rejecting Allah. So, gitmo guys have done Dar-al-Islam and umma a big favour. Look for full pardon. Sorry!

    Could be anytime now.

One would think that El Presidente could call in a marker with his buds and have her spared.

    Will he?

I seriously doubt she rates high on the POTUS’ list of priorities. What reasoning would he use to ask that she be spared? I don’t see it being something the US has any say in.

That said, it doesn’t make it any less sickening that she’s going to go under the sword based on shady “evidence”.

    One thing everyone must know:

Any U.S. government (Republican or Democrat) cannot and will not condemn the Saudi Royal family. Even after September 11, 2001.

There is a rule, a line that nobody can cross.

Washington D.C. and the big Media moguls (like Murdoch) have their hands tight by the Saudis.

The Saudis are smart. They know the weaknesses of the American people.

They know that MONEY and OIL can buy people, especially the politicians and the Media.

In other words, the Saudis have the American politicians and the U.S. Media in their pockets.

    I don’t need to write a dissertation.

That is the nature of the relationship between America and the Saudis.

It was like that last century and shall remain the same, this century, unless America decides that she doesn’t want to be a slave to the Arabs anymore.

I agree. Sadly, I don’t think it is a pill that we are ready to swallow just yet.

The Saudi interior minister, Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, is the guy who maintains that Israelis perpetrated Sep 11. When jihadis went on a murder spree against Westerners in one city, cutting the throat of one Scandinavian guy, Nayef allowed the guys to escape through the cordon of police he had set up. Of course, Nayef is happy to see Saudi terrorists freed. He is part of the evil Wahhabi faction that perpetrates terror.

When King Abdullah, the Saudi ruler, says he wants all the Saudis freed, that includes Mohamed al-Khatani, the 20th skyjacker of Sep 11, who was stopped from entering the country by a suspicious immigration agent. Mohammed Atta was waiting at the airport to pick him up. He was caught later, fighting in Afghanistan. Those are the kind of Saudis Abdullah wants freed.

The Saudis are our enemies. The $500K which funded Sep 11 came largely from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries. The Saudi princes funnel the money to the Wahhabi clergy who are waging a war of terror against America and the world. Saudi Arabia must be destroyed.

Not to split hairs, but the Saudis hate the US government because democracy is blasphemy to them. It is the duty of every Muslim to hate America because of that democracy, as the Saudis say in the tourist brochure they hand out from their embassy here in DC to Muslim tourists. Yes, you read that right.

However, you do have a point in that many of our people have been bought off by the Saudis and do the Saudis bidding against the American people and the government.

Quite right! “War on Terror” was a self-defeating exercise, which it was designed to cover up the real white house agenda of selling out to Islamists and illegal immigration. How elae can one explain increased student visas and arms to Saudis? http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/04/20050425-8.html
We must work to expand dialogue, understanding, and interactions between our citizens. This will include programs designed to (1) increase the number of young Saudi students to travel and study in the United States; (2) increase our military exchange programs so that more Saudi officers visit the United States for military education and training; and (3) increase the number of Americans traveling to work and study in the Kingdom.
