In regard to Michelle's response to Roger L. Simon:

What? Are we just supposed to sit here silently lest we be perceived as “restricting” the “rights” of blogs on the other side of the political aisle?

Speech is free in the U.S., but not free of consequence. If Jet Blue is going to associate with KOS they expect consequences: 16-year-old kids whining to their parents that they want the next family trip to be on Jet Blue because it's cool! But Jet Blue should also expect other consequences: mature right-minded adults thinking Jet Blue is disgusting and choosing another airline.

With no respect whatsoever, Roger, kindly explain how us exercising our right to do business (or not) with whoever we please somehow infringes on JetBlue's right to associate themselves with utterly evil groups (as I for one consider Kos to be). I find that whole schpiel offensive.

Is this really a serious attempt to get JetBlue to stop sponsoring YearlyKos? Because all it seems like you’re succeeding in doing is filling up Markos’ inbox with obscene hate email and death threats.

It's way late to be commenting on this but how do you know anyone is filling up Markos’ inbox with obscene hate email and death threats? There's no mention on the website of such an occurrence. How do you have "inside" information on the contents of the DKOS mailbox?

Just curious. Are there any copyright issues to posting/modifying Jet Blue logo? Just hoping Jet Blue doesn’t come armed with lawyers and cause trouble.

No problemo. Copyright law works like this: use the JetBlue logo or something very similar for your own airline? No. illegal; Use the logo or images to unfairly defame the airline, such as posting a photoshopped image of a JB plane in flames and saying seriously that 50 JB planes exploded last year killing thousands of people? No. Illegal. Taking the picture of Homer Simpson in the JetBlue ad and make it look like he's giving the finger with the words Hate Mongers beneath as a political statement about JB supporting KOS. YES! You betcha. It's called "parody" and is very much covered under the first amendment - big time.

2. Michelle got it 100% right as usual about availing oneself of the first amendment in response to something someone else volunteered and I'm tired of the whiners: If man 1 makes a strong statement and man 2 condemns it, man 2 is not stifling man 1's freedom of speech. However, if man 1 demands that man 2 not be allowed to comment on what he said, then man 1 is quite definately attempting to deny man 2 his freedom of speech.

I love how Dems alwats try to have it both ways: strike first and then whine foul when someone responds, and some people in the msm are trying to sell that idea, too.

Once Ellis Hennigan(sic?) on Mr O during a discussion about Rosie O'Donnell, said something along the lines of "shouldn't she be allowed to comment without being dragged into an arguement?" The answer to the Simons and hennigans in the world is, "No", that's the kind of system Stalin set up in Communist Russia. And that's why the 1st amendment and parody are such a great combination for debate: you better get your facts straight, or you're going to look like an ass, and that's great motivation for seeing to it that the general population keep their facts straight.
