The Democrats Want You…to shut your traps

It’s an uncanny bit of timing that the NYC MTA has just launched a new campaign to urge citizen vigilance and activism…just as Beltway Dems have sent a message to those tipsters to shut their traps.
July 17, 2007
It’s the same message you’ve been getting from the MTA for years, but now you’ll be hearing it in your living room.
The agency unveiled television commercials for its five-year-old “See Something, Say Something” campaign Tuesday.
The collaborative effort between the MTA and city, state, and federal governments, encourages commuters to take an active role in keeping the city’s subways buses and commuter rail lines safe.
“We want to take it to a higher level,” said MTA Executive Director & CEO Elliot “Lee” Sander. “It is just incredibly important that we use the eyes, ears that New Yorkers have in riding our subway cars, our buses, our commuter rails.”
“Terrorists’ timetables are not known,” said New York State Deputy Secretary for Public Safety Michael Balboni. “Things can happen at any time and that’s why it’s absolutely crucial that when you ride the subways, when you ride the trains, take a step out and look at your environment.”
In 2006, nearly 2,000 riders did just that.
“We rely on them. There are more commuters then there are police officers, so we do need their assistance,” said Joseph Martelli, Deputy Inspector, MTA Police. “Similar to how people call 911 when people see something suspicious on their street, we need our commuters to call something in that they feel might be suspicious.”
Here’s one of the just-unveiled New York City “see something, say something” posters that’s ripe for a Photoshop:
And here’s another:
One more sign ripe for a P-shop makeover in the wake of the Dems’ refusal to support John Doe:
Have at it! I’ll post ‘em here.

I posted Justin Higgins’ P-shop on Thursday, but it’s worth re-posting again for further inspiration:
Update: Justin answers the call again:

The Minneapolis Star Tribune follows up on where the John Doe amendment is headed:
Republicans have been demanding that the lawsuit protections be added in a conference committee meeting to reconcile the House and Senate versions of what has been dubbed the “9/11 bill.” The committee, of which Coleman is a member, adjourned Thursday without taking up the proposal.
Coleman’s staff said the measure could come up again as the Senate finishes work on the conference report this week.
The postponement came as 64 House Republicans — including Rep. John Kline of Minnesota — distributed a letter saying “No American should fear lawsuits for doing the right thing.”

I think that poster pretty much says it all. The Party of cut and run has found yet another way to put our nation’s security at risk.
Great Poster … don’t think it missed anything at all …
I find it so fitting that the DEMO-CRAPS selected as their national symbol A JACKASS … talk about type-casting in la-la-land …
I have often wondered about the choice of an ass for the symbol of their party too….so apropos. What were they drinking the night they picked that?
For the record, the Democrats didn’t choose the Jackass as their symbol, not the Republicans an elephant for theirs, those representative images were created for them the father of the modern political cartoon, Thomas Nast, the same guy who brought you the current image of santa Clause, in the 1920′s.
Honestly, while we should fight this tooth and nail, I cannot help but think the Dems are running in a scared, blind panic. Suddenly, everything, from illegal immigration to this to the fairness doctorine, all seems to be a very fast, heavy-handed attempt to shut up Republicans from public discourse while boosting their election return numbers among immigrants (this thing about striking down John Doe, in their minds, has the same effect – making appearances toward compassion for minorities to get their vote).
OT:
By the way, Obama today said if he were President he would march with protestors for this and that. As President, I wonder, is that all he could muster by way of decisive, action-oriented manifestations? Protesting?!
This, the kintergarten sex ed thing – I think we’re all getting a healthy dose of just how way-out extremist Obama really is.
What twisted logic to support whistleblowers who trash our own government but leave those who report suspicion of terrorism at the mercy of the courts. That says a lot, none of it good, about the Democratic party and I believe that the majority of Democrats wouldn’t agree with that position.
Exactly why I’m libertarian. I want the power of government toned down to the maximum. We don’t need America turned into a prison grid.
That poster should be put up everywhere. Reid is as creepy as a mortuary owner in a thunderstorm with the power out, Pelosi is as dumb as a stick. But where are Bush and Chertoff?
Come on Michelle!!! The pic with the words “report suspicious activity” is too hardcore. America isn’t a prison grid and a radical snitch society Michelle.
ammonrae
I believe that is the same signage I see at my airport every time I drive into it …
To paraphrase an old adage -
The RIGHT HAND knows fully what the LEFT HAND is doing … (even though they deny it)
but the LEFT HAND doesn’t know what the LEFT HAND is doing …
as we said in the military … no dummy … your other left …
I don’t care DesertLover. I’m not for a police state….sorry….
MR C_C
Thanks … I happened to be aware of the origin of the 2 symbols but suspect many were not … now they know the rest of the story …
I just find it interesting that the DEMS still embrace that symbol and how aptly it fits their modus operandi
ammonrae – “Come on Michelle!!! The pic with the words “report suspicious activity” is too hardcore. America isn’t a prison grid and a radical snitch society Michelle.”
No we are NOT a “prison grid”, and we do not want to be a compliant deaf, dumb and blind part of an Islamic “target grid” either.
It would have been nice if someone had “snitched” on Islam’s 19 “Heroic Martyrs” of 9/11. Ditto their next batch of “Heroic Martyrs”.
Neither am I ammonrae …
But reporting suspicious activity at an airport or train station and such is no different than reporting a robbery or a mugging or seeing a drug deal on the corner … Things regularly reported from Neighborhood Watch Groups all over this great country … An alert and observant citizenry does not equal a police state … IMHO
SHUT UP and CYOA the Democrat Way!
Ammonrae…
Didn’t I see you at the county fair trying to sign people up for the Libertarian Party?
Alright now, if any one sees ANYTHING just be a good little dimmi and keep it to yourself.
Report alleges Iraqi smuggling ring works out of Chaparral
Just a year ago, a Google search turned up a lot more info on the history of the Democratic donkey and how it originated from a Jackass. Today the same search turns up almost all Democratic explanations on the history of the symbol and they tend to leave out the Jackass part, even if you Google the republican symbol. It seems to me the information is being white washed because the Dems know the shoe fits!
It seems the Dems owning the papers, Television News, Hollywierd and all that comes out of it, is not enough, they want it all, the net and Radio. So who is really for freedom of speech?
I’m John doe, sue me!!!!!!!! If you see something out of place, don’t report it because you might offend the jahadist who are trying to blow us up. Make sense?

If true, and I have no reason to doubt you, this is extremely unsettling. If the left are using their media control to eliminate history by stealth, we actually have – let me see if I can come up with a good Dem phrase for it – “a crisis of history preservation”.
Michelle, could you please stick that history of the image with the word “jackass” in it somewhere in a permanent spot on your site, and if anyone else knows how to manage websites, could they do the same, so future generations – even ones now – can google it and get the historical scoop? It would only take a few minutes for someone savvy (I would do it but I’m not website savvy, though if you do I’ll be happy to do a free photoshop graphics for you!) There is a reason why Nast chose that image at the time, and that history – fair and balanced – should not only be preserved, but immediately available. I’m really serious. Apparently we’re going to have to be all over this stuff, all of it, to fight off the stealthy corruption of history by the left.
Not to worry! As soon as the ROP hits us again, the Dems will be screaming for whistle-blower protection as they frantically try to wash the blood of dead Americans from their hands.
Right now I don’t see how you can get sued for giving an opinion.
Hello police, you might want to come down and take a look at these guys, what they are doing seems pretty suspicious to me.

Guess again.

Difficult to believe when the Imams sued for civil right violations after acting suspiciously on an airliner.
Supporting the Imans lawsuit and immunity legislation is fairly hypocritical since we already know they were probably on a dry run.

Using ethnicity is just an excuse, immunity to protect those with guts enough to say something is far more important.
There is absolutely nothing that points towards any real likelihood of racial profiling.
At times we must act in our own best interests, this is one of those times.
How about this slogan. “Last year 1,944 New Yorkers saw something and said something. This year CAIR sued 1,944 New Yorkers who wished they had said nothing.”
Treason!
CAIR is a Saudi sponsored spy nest determined to destroy America and the world. It’s number one ally is Bush.
Remember the symbolism of the JACKASS in the movie, “THE OMEN”?
Enough said.
Just for clarification – I am assuming that the jackal and jackass are related.
“Liberalism is a Mental Disease!” Savage really hit the nail in the head.
Dandapani
Never had a doubt that was true …
Easily confirmed by the fact that when a DEMO-CRAP opens their mouth to speak the brain automatically disengages …
The real reason that Democrats oppose protecting those who come forward with information about suspicious activity: They care more about their Muslim constituents who are now block voters for Democrats.
CAIR and MAS can rally the anti-American and Israeli vote, which solidly votes for Democrats. Here is an article by the Muslim American Society boasting that they made the Senate Democratic last election by getting 50,000 voters out in Virginia, of which 92% voted for the candidate (Webb over Allen) that they perceived would be less likely to proactively protect America and Israel. And they were right given Webb’s vote on John Doe!
http://www.masnet.org/takeaction.asp?id=3893
Webb cares more about CAIR and MAS than he does American citizens.
“Don’t Look, Don’t Tell”
Just…. scary…
I echo the sentiments of other commentators, and find it ironic that protecting the “rights” of suspicious peoples, rather than that of the whole nation.
Lie to me again and tell me the Democratic Party is tough on terror.
It’s not just the muslim’s who will cash in on this.. ANY religious or ethic group will be able to scream bigot. So it will also be a HUGE boon to the illegals.
Lawsuits are easier than suicide vests and accomplish much the same thing: cultural intimidation.
If you want to see their end game, read Britain is Doomed.
I find it interesting that most of these issues swirl around places where because of federal and/or state laws, no private citizen can legally carry a firearm or other weapon to defend themselves.
At the rate the Libs are determined to undermine the US of A….all laws will be abandoned and the Constitution will become null and void.
If I’m going to be sued from someone truly scaring me or my family for reporting suspiciuos behavior, I might as well just go over and beat the Crap out of them.
jack·ass
1. a male donkey.
2. a contemptibly foolish or stupid person; dolt; blockhead; ass, or
A foolish or stupid person; a blockhead: “You’ve acted like an irrational jackass and it’s time you stopped” (Margaret Truman).
If I see any suspicious activity near DNC headquarters, I’ll be sure to ignore it
.
This has to do more with the legal system fleecing the middle class out of our hard earned dollars.
Many valid points have been raised, and each is alarming and a consideration in the way the democrat machine thinks.
However, the major issue is litigation. Litigation takes money from us and gives it to the lawyers. The dems will never vote for anything that reduces litigaton. Frivolous lawsuits are the bread and butter of millionaire attorneys like John Edwards and the ACLU.
Our major law schools are hotbeds of liberal thinking. The word justice has been convuluted to mean ‘get the highest paycheck possible’. There is no justice for the people, only for the lawyers.
Our congress is mostly made up of millionaire ‘elite’ attorneys who have little consideration for the needs of the common man. They make laws, then state they do not apply to congress. They have their own retirement plan, health plan and regularily vote themselves 30% pay raises, while legally (in their opinion) creating new ways to use our monies to support their corrupt legal system.
The fact that they are power hungery millionaire elitist lawyers, bent on using their power to line the pockets of family members, friends and financial supporters, escapes public attention.
What is alarming most dems at this point is a rare time in history. A large part of the public ‘is’ finally becoming aware. Lets hope it is not too late
Hammer – Nail – Head

I too have long been offended by the apparent belief among many that one needs to have a law degree to serve in the government … I can assure those that think that way it was not the case in the beginning of this country …
I think we should start a movement that we automatically reject by our votes anyone who has practiced law getting elected to any office …
Maybe we’d get back to some common sense amongst those we elect to take care of the people’s business …

More immigration insanity. Judge lets accused rapist go because he does not speak English. This in spite of the fact rapist is from Liberia (Language;English), rapist goes to college in America, and rapist did all of his interviews in English with detectives and Fox news. Huh?
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,290300,00.html
It is all about being Politcally Correct, which I remind people daily isn’t American Culture it is Socialist Culture. If the Dems want to pander to Socialist that is their demise it doesn’t mean everyone is going to follow them and get on the same short yellow bus. What are the Dems really afraid of – not Terrorist, well not Islamic Facist.
Exactly right. Political Correctness seems nice and sweet and caring but it’s actually a way to undermine free speech. Look at how certain “studies” are being used to support the “fairness doctrine”? If a study states that there isn’t enough “diversity” in the ownership of certain outlets of information, then make no mistake that Dems will come up with some way to force legislation so that any opposing viewpoint to theirs will be stifled, in the name of “tolerance” of course. As well, we can’t address the realities of certain cultures that want to destroy us. However, we can use terms “hate speech” and “hate crimes” (which are now actually legal terms and basically crimes that police motives rather than actual crimes themselves,) to declare anthing that isn’t seen by the authorities to be tolerant – like, say Christianity to gays e.g. – a crime. We are headed toward a Stalinist society thanks to the Dems. Any time the Dems bring up legislation, your liberties are on the line.
One thing to remember… if an article refers to ‘a study’ it is 99 percent certain it is 100 percent BS.
It’s a great opportunity for the left. Big money in frivolous lawsuits, and blocks of voters. No one is going to run that gravy train into a box canyon. The talking points you will now hear will be how lucky we are to live in a country where a jury of your peers can decide what’s frivolous. What greedy lawyers mean is how lucky for lawyers that the defense always pays. What pro-terrorist lawyers mean is how lucky to turn our laws against us. If losers had to pay, the situation would be different. If contingency fee attorneys (30% for a win, 0 if they lose) had to risk paying 30% of the defendent’s cost if they lost (with their client paying the rest), the situation would be drastically different.
The $54 million pants lawsuit is the poster child of stupid lawsuits and why we need the loser to pay. The would help some, but we also need John Doe, the way many places have Good Samaritan laws to protect doctors who help at accidents.
The left doesn’t give a hoot about national security, it’s about money and power.
Oops, pardon a couple of typos…
That mega millions lawsuit regarding the pants….that lawyer needs to serve jailtime for what he did to that couple!
He knew he’d bankrupt them with their legal fees.
They have no recourse……where is the ACLU on this one, huh???????
No doubt Gayle, the Chung’s got Hosed big time.
Here’s info on how folks can help.

There is my road sign
Thanks, Ajmontana. I know, she posted the jet blue one I did, but not this new one, which I feel is much, much better. Skyrocketing as she is (deservedly)I’m assuming she’s too busy to watch every nut and bolt, so I figured I’d share it the other way, but I don’t want to breach site protocall. You can judge the execution, but I’m kinda proud of the concept. Oh well.
Hey, I know, I’ll send it to you and you can send it to her!
(j/k)
Has it occurred to anyone that the likelihood of a private jet being hijacked is far less than that of a commercial jet? And, remind me again here, how do the Dem leaders get around the country most of the time?
On behalf of all of my fellow Virginians, I apologize profusely for our melon-headed, sexist, anti-war freak Senator. Mr. Webb is an embarrassment to all of us, just as he was an embarrassment to the Navy during the Reagan era. I would not be surprised to find out that he was a Vietnamese plant akin to Pham Xuan An of Time Magazine.
Does anyone not find it a little convenient that 92% of Virginia Muslims would vote Democrat, as the staunch views of Muslim belief contradict the rights and freedoms Democrats are supposed to espouse? For example:
1) Sex education and condom availability in schools- Democrats support showing kids how to get STDs, Muslims support stoning (dead is dead, right?)
2) Equality for women and minorities- Democrats for quotas, Muslims for putting all women in burkas, and all minorities (aka non-Muslims) to an equal early death
3) Freedom of Speech- Democrats against, Muslims against
4) Pork spending- Democrats for, Muslims…well, it has pork in the name…
5) Freedom of religion- Democrats for it as long as the religion isn’t Christian, Muslims for it as long as it’s Islam
Maybe their stances aren’t that far apart after all.
TomB very good point. But remember, wasn’t Pelosi whining about how she wanted more of her family transported by the US Air Force along with her? So if its not a business jet, it is the US military on the taxpayer’s tab.
But she doesn’t want anyone protected on a public carrier who feels threatened or who sees suspicious activity on flights that that she doesn’t take. How can we call this a democracy anymore, when people like this with their absolute arrogance can do whatever they want? They are nothing but pigs at the trough of the trial lawayers. And they ally themselves with sworn enemies of there own country. Throw the bastards out.
“Throw the bastards out.”
And burn the furniture and scrub the floors down with disinfectant. The back rooms in Congress are so grossly political, so shamelessly hypocritical, so thick in vile hate that in the past year the place has started to seem to be fundementally unclean.
I absolutely don’t believe that even the democrat voting public agrees with this.
How can they possibly support the shutting down of their own safety? They need to speak up in huge numbers before this monstrosity gets signed.
CC in #64
I agree with the principle of your statement … won’t happen though because no matter what the idiocy of the things they do the DEMO-CRAPs always tell their loony supporters it is needed to correct something done by the Bush administration … in their twisted minds that makes everything all right … no matter the consequences to the country, the people, or our security … truth and common sense do not ever enter the pitcure
I just can’t leave out my animated construction sign
Ammonrae…
Didn’t I see you at the county fair trying to sign people up for the Libertarian Party?
Well,no. I have problems with the Libertarian Party. I don’t like the symbol.
I guess we cal always call Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s (AZ) new annonymous illegal alien hot line. He might pass the info to the proper authorities giving us cover.
Democrats are the biggest da** joke this country has ever had, and worse yet they are downright dangerous.
FYI The number if you’d like to jot it down is: 602-876-4154. He’s looking for any information about suspicious or illegal behavior. What’s really nice, is he’s dead serious.
nfbailey
I agree …
people around the country don’t realize that Joe will be our sheriff for as long as he wants to be … despite all of the opposition from the ACLU and all the Open Borders groups …
They should all be so lucky as to have law enforcement that actually believes in enforcing the law …
