But don’t let the facts get in the way of good propaganda.
If you have a legitimate argument against what you perceive as different reaction or tolerance of art or speech that is anti-muslim as opposed to anti- christian, then fine. Make that argument. You may be right. And if you have an argument that hate crime laws are prosecuted unfairly, then fine. Make that argument. You may be right.
But it is a straight up lie to say, as this video does, that someone can own a copy of the bible and a copy of the koran, flush them both and be charged with a felony for flushing the koran. That is not what happened in the Pace case, whatever you think of the merits of the charges.
And you know that Michelle. This is really shameful and beneath you.

I have a life. The life of a lawyer, and a damn well trained at that. One that gets disgusted when someone presents blatant untruths about the law to make a political point.
In some things there can be differences in interpretation or reasonable differences in opinion, but that video is an absolutely untrue.
If Michelle can say in all seriousness that she believes that it is, in and of itself, a felony to flush the Koran WHICH IS WHAT THAT VIDEO SAYS, then I will shut up. She will still be wrong, mind you but I will let her believe her delusions. On the other hand, if she cannot, she should pull that stupid video at once.

I don’t know why you would doubt I went to Georgetown Law (where Dinh teaches). I could tell you any number of little anecdotes or facts to back that up. For example the worst evidence professor there is named Tague, nicknamed “Vague Tague.” The best, in my opinion, Contracts professor there is Professor Goldberg, who always starts the year emulating the professor from “The Paper Chase” and citing the “Hairy Hand Case” And Phil Schrag, who teaches Civ Pro, looks slightly like the guy from the Princess Bride who says “Inconceivable!”
But this is not about my academic credentials.

The point of that video was to make you think that, in and of itself, flushing a Koran down the toilet is illegal, but flushing a bible is okey dokey.
That is patently false. Please, go buy all the Korans you want and do whatever nasty things you want to them and then post it on the internet. I give you my personal guarantee that you will not be arrested.
I absolutely understand that whomever made that video and MM are upset because they feel that the Pace guy is getting a bum rap, that what he did does not amount to a hate crime, or that even if it was “technically” a hate crime under the statute that the law is enforced unequally. I am not arguing those points.
But to intentionally misrepresent the law and situation in which these apparent contradictory results (i.e., Pace guy v. cross in urine guy) occured is wrong.

The issue here isn’t that one can be prosecuted for flushing a Koran, but rather that there are a lot of folks who do in fact want that to be the case, and who will in the absence of such law use whatever agitprop means may be at their disposal to bend current criminal and/or tort law to similar ends.
As for TNR, I’d suggest that perhaps one could make a useful reduction in one’s carbon footprint by cutting that into small squares; methinks the average conservative backside could do a better job of proofreading and fact-checking their text than can their editors’ eyes and brains.
I agree Michelle. This one had me laughing for a long time. There’s something about Mary’s sweet smile meeting the disembodied voice throughout the whole video while he keeps asking her about her bathroom that makes this a nominee for an oscar.

Now, if somebody would offer to pick up the legal tab of all those who have been/are being prosecuted, persecuted and sued for insulting Islam in one imagined form or another – now, that would impress me!
Great video, one of our best tools against the encroachment of Sharia law is a good sense of humor.
Get over yourself. As was said earlier, it is blatant sarcasm with the intention of showing there is an unnatural and overly zealous promotion of the tenets of Islam (versus other religions and American freedoms) through predatory lawsuits/legal scare tactics.

Some time ago a Queens College student tried this on campus to see the reaction and campus security wrote him up, and not just merely on potentially clogging toilets with shredded “used” Koran.

Sorry, well not really sorry, but I don’t think the video is that funny. Part because what she is trying to put across isn’t true, and also because it’s let’s see how would you say, it’s lame. And it sounded and looked a lot like that other one which spoofed on Green Eggs and Ham. Putting out a video that doen’t express the truth is just wrong, and besides, did I mention, it isn’t that funny?

Now, I’m no lawyer (BTW must make two points here 1. People haven’t been impressed by the phrase “I’m a lawyer” for at least thirty years now & 2. Writing that you’re a “damn well trained” is just going to make people wonder why you didn’t write “really damn experienced.”) but I think the point is that the same thing that was done at Pace could have been done to a Bible and no prosecution would have resulted from it.
Since the determining factor for prosecution in this case has nothing to do with the act itself or the motivation of the actor, but rather the object that was defiled in the act (if I kill a bird or a plant, I don’t get prosecuted, but if I kill a human then I do because a human (the object acted upon) has more worth in the eyes of the state), it only stands to reason then, that the object (a Koran) acted upon in this case, must have more worth in the eyes of the state than another object which could have been defiled in the exact same manor without resulting in prosecution. I think that that is the point of the video.
It’s not the flushing or the flusher, but the flushed that got the guy in trouble. He got in trouble not because of what he did, but because he did it to the Koran.
Sorry, well not really sorry, but I don’t think the video is that funny.
There are plenty of liberal “comics” who aren’t funny nor “truthy” either, but we have to suffer through their terrible “comedy”.

I understood the point of the video, it just wasn’t that great in my opinion. Can’t someone come on here and disagree with you guys? As we discussed on another recent thread, some people should simply be shown the door when they get too impolite in someone’s own home, insulting not only the home owner, but the owner’s guests who are there because most feel some kindred feelings toward the host. That’s real world, face-to-face reality, and we if had a little – or alot – more of it on the internet, we’d find ourselves beset by fewer undisciplined guests, fewer KOS wannabes, fewer terrorists and fewer child molestors. The internet needs to get out of fairy-land and into the real world, and only a bit more policing will do that – just like in the real world.
At least Chapoutier had the sense of self-pride enough to exit on his own accord.
This is probably a tough call for the owners of this board, because the more hits they get, the more revenue they can generate from advertisers and trolls and other malicious internet creatures are a good source of controversy and hence ‘ratings”. However, it gets tiresome having to fight the same endless left-wing BS spin here as in the real world, and I’d call upon the hosts of this board not to kill the golden goose by allowing too many malicious trolls to dirty up the place.
Dessent is one thing. Perpetual left-wing hijacking along with uncalled-for personal insults is quite another thing entirely, and begins to make the room feel as dirty as an anchor’s chair at CNN, and that’s plenty filthy enough for anyone.
On Topic: I like the vid for one reason only: it’s the tough talk the libs have been giving for 40 years with the advantage of being 110% more intellectually honest. Good taste? Not necessarily. A point well-made? You bet.

Was listening to Mike Savage yesterday. He feels that the charges are justifed. Lack of respect for the muslim faith, blah, blah, blah. But he further backs this up by saying that laws need to be passed to protect the bible and the flag, etc, etc, etc.
