I is for Intifada

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 6, 2007 12:14 PM

The NYPost blows the whistle this morning on inflammatory “intifada t-shirts” sold by activists linked to the principal of the taxpayer-funded “Khalil Gibran International Academy:”

Activists with ties to the principal of the city’s controversial new Arabic-themed school are hawking T- shirts that glorify Palestinian terror, The Post has learned.

The inflammatory tees boldly declare “Intifada NYC” - apparently a call for a Gaza-style uprising in the Big Apple.

The organization selling the shirts, Arab Women Active in Art and Media, shares office space on Brooklyn’s Third Avenue with the Saba Association of American Yemenis.

Dhabah “Debbie” Almontaser, principal of the Khalil Gibran International Academy - which is scheduled to open in Brooklyn next month - is a board member and spokeswoman for Saba.

Almontaser defends the shirts:

“The word [intifada] basically means ’shaking off.’ That is the root word if you look it up in Arabic,” she said.

“I understand it is developing a negative connotation due to the uprising in the Palestinian-Israeli areas. I don’t believe the intention is to have any of that kind of [violence] in New York City.

“I think it’s pretty much an opportunity for girls to express that they are part of New York City society . . . and shaking off oppression.”

Assimilation = Glorifying terror. Welcome to Sharia 101.

Gee, I wonder if wearing advocation for jihad in New York blatantly on a t-shirt will finally start to get people’s attention. Nothing like planning mass murder to shake people up. Do you think MSM will cover this story or are the reporters wearing the shirts?

Oh, sure. And the word “Crusade” derives from the Latin “crux,” meaning “cross.” So if I were to print T shirts saying “Crusade to Mecca,” I’d be merely promoting tourism to Saudi Arabia. Right? Not my fault if the word suffers from association to events in the past. Right?

Right - how about shaking off their burkas and medieval religious repression? For that matter, lose the t-shirts altogether and go topless, ala PETA.

Just curious - a t-shirt signifies “shaking off oppression”, but burquas signify…what, exactly?

NEW YORK - Wake UP! It’s high time you remember that 3,000 of your fellow New Yorkers were murdered on your city streets. Are you going to do something about this metaphorical finger this madrassa is giving you and your city?

    Bloomberg for President?

Somebody needs to sue the Madrassa and get their non-profit status revoked.

The Superintendent of NYC Schools needs to be told how this kind of action is not just in poor taste, it is a conflict of interest.

Debbie has to mind the p’s and q’s of her position as a tax-funded entity, including non-Muslim oversight of the school’s activities in the NYC school system.

Someone is asleep at the wheel, especially if “Debbie” is doing such things without checking with her superior in the school system chain of command.

I wonder if she knows Faisal Khan? How does the American Muslim Law Enforcement Association define “Intifada”?

And this has got to be one of the things that totally drives me batsh#t over the ‘coexist’ crowd and their ’save the jihadi he wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for the USA’ standpoint.

You get people like Rosie O supporting the ROP. Yet, the ROP would kill her before allowing an opinionated lesbian to exist. Yet, she shouts down Israel and the USA to support the ROP.

Of all people who should be fighting against the ROP and creeping Sharia you would think it would be liberal woman. As they would be stuffed in burquas and never heard from again. But they just don’t get it.

They count so much on being able to tell a gullible west that the words don’t mean what we think they mean.
    jihad = inner struggle

The Islamic radical propaganda machine is well oiled and operates on all cylinders. They have had a lot of success with intimidating most press and news agencies to get them to repeat their party line and they count on the publics’ willingness to accept their explanation since most are so ill informed of anything related to the Islamic world. We, in the west, really want to believe that they bring a message of peace but their actions sure do speak a different mission.
Until I hear more of them condemming the killing of civillians rather then explaining to me what certain words mean I will continue to believe their actions and not their words.

She neglects to mention that the root “Shake off” refers to “Uprising” in that same definition and the word was created to mean Arab’s in Gaza to “Shake Off” or do an “Uprising” against Israel.

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/intifada

Etymology: Arabic intifAda, literally, the act of shaking off
: UPRISING, REBELLION; specifically : an armed uprising of Palestinians against Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip

Exactly. EVERYTHING liberals hold dear - feminism, abortion, gay rights, free love, etc. - would be lost under shari’a law.

It would be and they are in denial over this very simple, proven fact.

Which is why my argument stands:

Liberals tolerate Islam because they hope Islam will defeat Christianity.

It is no news to anyone here that Christianity is continually under attack in this nation…yet we fight back through the courts, our faith, and things like blogs.

So I truly and honestly believe the left despises Christianity so they’ve decided to tolerate Islam in the hopes the former will be defeated by the latter.

It makes me sad and it makes me sick.

I challenge ANYONE who thinks America is a raving Christian theocracy to spend a month in an Islamic nation - and this is specifically directed at women like Rosie O’Donnell and feminists who whine about abortion rights and equal pay.

Spend a month living like gum on the bottom of someone’s shoe (simply because you’re a woman) and then talk to me about how horribly oppressive this supposed Christian theocracy is.
