Kos vs. Ford: Open thread Update: Video link added; Update: The Kos-Ford remix
Meet The Press is touting a showdown this morning between Markos Moulitsas and DLC’er Harold Ford: “Exclusive! Former Congressman Harold Ford, Jr., Chairman of the DLC and Markos Moulitsas, editor of the DailyKos, debate the direction of the Democratic Party and 2008.” More here.
I’m taping it and won’t watch it until later. But if you happen to be in front of the TV this morning and want to weigh in/flag any soundbites, have at it.

Repubs become Dems, Dems become Kos. Where does that leave Conservatives? If the Repubs can’t kick out the RINOs, then it’s 3rd party time.
I already made the mistake of reading the BS speach from Cebada on the Bush Immigration thread. I’m going to pass on watching this BS and have a pleasant Sunday morning. Checking the comments will provide me all I need to know….. Have a Great Day everyone….

I don’t recognize the author of the denverpost article David Sirota? Who is he? I get he thinks that KOS is the wave of the future, these folks live in little urban bubbles.
Harold Ford Jr., used to be a regular on Imus in the Morning, he was silent during the Lynching of Imus, when his voice might have helped. Ford has come out since that incident and referred to Imus, as his very dear friend on the program, Hannity and Colmes. My point is Harold Ford Jr., is being attacked by the same kind of people, who attacked Imus, Ford would have done them both a service if he had found his VOICE sooner then later. This isn’t new this struggle inside the Democrat Party it has been going on for awhile ask Joe Lieberman. In fact Harold Ford Jr., might want to look to Joe Lieberman for an example he became an “Independent”
I remember when Harold Ford Jr., wanted to be the Minority Leader versus Nancy Pelosi, the Dems spokesman said, to Harold Ford Jr., something like your ambitious and young, you have plenty of time in the future you will get your turn…can anyone say Condescending!! Yeah the last thing the Democrat party needs is a moderate in any leadership posistion.
Isn’t it true that Moulitsas worked for the CIA?

10:30 here on the east coast—it’s just starting. Check NBC’s website for a stream or podcast.
- Kos opening ‘monolauge’ contained no specific views or ideas (until prompted later). I thought that spoke volumes.
- Kos later blamed Bush for bridge collapse because he cut taxes that could have been used on infrastructure. Nice leftie populist viewpoint, only that it’s not grounded in reality. Very disgusting politicization of tragedy, again by Kos.
- David Gregory hosted, who is more or less as repugnant as Russert these days. It really was hard to watch as NBC further legitimizes anti-American looney lefties like this. 30 minutes on national TV for the Kossacks, free…that’s a tough pill to swallow. It would have been better if Kos divulged many more details about their beliefs, which he did not. He tried to sound as mainstream as possible.

And NBC provided the opportunity. GE owns NBCU. MSNBC has titlted as far as they can get to the left, this is reference to David Gregory..Howdy Dowdy. Anyone with eyes can see the Media Manipultion going on if they choose to. KOS being mainstreamed, look who is helping.
He did, but only because he’s trying to pull the wool over Meet the Press’s national audience. On some level, I think he probably succeeded. The bad-haired diminutive moonbat is clever, I will give him that.
Spot on Laree, this ‘debate’ spoke as much about NBC as it did anyone else. They presented Kos this morning is the best possible light. You might say they actually elevated him.
Yeah, this was a disturbing display.
Lies about the economy and the infrastructure are what Kos led off with. Gratuitous “get out of Iraq now” rhetoric without any real long-term strategy (of course). Basically started talking smugly about the far-left revolution that he helped usher in, telling Ford that the DLC’s ideology was obsolete.
I, for one, hope that Kos gets his wish and the Dems start to run on their true, far-left colors in the election. They will alienate so much of the population that it will be devastating for them.
Ford seemed reasonable, Kos seemed like a snotty, narcissistic, liberal ‘Moses’. Kos basically insulted Ford for 30 minutes and Ford did his best to suck up…looked very weak.
I had the same level of contempt watching these two as I normally do when I see Zawahiri and Gadahn lecturing me about my pending demise via videotape.
Ford tried to bring up all of the extreme trash postings on kos.
Moulitsas cut him off denying being responsible and accused Ford of trying to silence the masses.
Davie Gregory is a tool of the far lefties, I agree this was hard to watch.
How a man can let himself be of such low character is beyond me.

My observation of the exchange too! Just what we need is an ex-military supply clerk leading the nation into ruin. Reminds me of that German corporal from WWI that fixed things for his nation in the 1930s, why is the hair on the back of my neck standing out when this little weasel speaks? My memory is that Harold Ford Jr., is a Fox News Contributor. Was this a chance for the rival network, to slap him around and Ford just wasn’t prepared?
Ford like Joe Lieberman before him, will eventually have to make a choice about his Political Party, I for one can hardly recognize “IT” anymore. Someone needs to shut the flap on the Big Tent Party!!
I do think this exhibition was for KOS’s benefit.
This appearance on MTP is a consequence of the Dem presidential candidates giving him legitimacy by showing up at YearlyKos.
Let’s hope he gets so cocky he slips up and reveals how truly radical these people are. The trick will get the media – who are desperately trying to “mainstream” him anyway – to cover the truth about him.
Now is the time for all conservative commentators to start trashing KOS non-stop and for a very important reason: History shows that Republican candidates are timid about who they attack until the the larger grassroots and right-wing media voice clear the way and make it “safe” by testing and winning various arguements. So now is the time, so when the GOP candidates start really getting into significant debates with the Dems, they can hang KOS around the Dems collective liberal neck like a ball and chain with a picture of Castro emblazened across it.
I disagree with those of you who believe this was a train wreck for Ford. While he seemed earnest and genuinely concerned about the left turn of his party, Kos appeared harsh, defensive, and really just plain mean. I kept hearing him say “Screw you” over and over again in my head.
There was not one piece of Kos’s presentation that would make a moderate, sitting on the fence independent move toward Kos’s democrat party. The “I can’t help what people say on my site–don’t you like democracy?” defense for his site’s rabid anti-Semitism is old and tired. Clearly, Kos is not offended by the offensive material on his site, and that couldn’t have been clearer than in this interview.
Ford looked like a grown-up; Kos looked like a snotty little kid. He couldn’t even sit up straight, for God’s sake.
And, while democrats might believe “you don’t criticize other democrats,” independents DO NOT believe that, and Hillary can’t win without a big swing her way from independents. Going hard left with Kos ain’t the way to get that.
My fear, quite frankly, is that they’ll start listening to people like Ford.
I had hoped Ford would emerge as the level-headed black candidate for president or vice-president at some point. Much more experience, honesty, and decorum than Obama. This is not to be. Always thought he was just quiet and soft spoken. These days he seems timid and wimpy.
As far as Gregory, he has the distinction of being the only press person I’ve ever written directly to his network to complain about and vow I’d never watch any news program they did again. I haven’t. He’s still there.
I hope the democrat party does pin their reputation to KOS – that would be the gift that keeps on giving. Right through the primaries. They could not recover in time for it to count in Nov. 2008.
I agree with Mr. Conservative Cat we need to start really hammering KOS and we need to start now. We need to point out their antisemitism to all their major sponsors and launch boycotts. We need to take every example of bigotry of the KOS to the moderates and independents. We need to be going to every Jewish organization there is and show them what the Democratic party is embracing. We need to start doing this now as an organized plan.

Absolutely. I recall kos and others (Such as Juan Williams) claim that his site “is” the middle, and mainstream. I guess they didn’t give this guy the memo, because he calls the daily kos “a site for very partisan Democrats.”
