Every person who has been “promised” things by their recruiter has signed a contract. The young recruits can review them on their own or with legal counsel prior to signing if they so choose. These contracts, of course, are legal and binding. These contracts cannot be changed once they’ve been signed beyond clauses and provisions that are included in the contract. If the recruits don’t like the clauses and provisions or the contract itself, they don’t have to sign it. There are always multiple other branches of service that will undoubtedly make all their hopes and dreams come true.

For the record, I am not now, nor have I ever been, a recruiter. I am not now, nor have I ever been, tied to the recruiting process in any way except as the recipient of several recruiting pitches. I am, however, thankful for the Marine Corps sergeant who delivered the recruiting pitch I accepted and opened up a whole new world to me.

You may not realize it, but it is possible to praise our troops and give compliments to this guy without a shot at those who (sometimes rightly I might add) have claimed that recruiters go over the line by promising things to young adults about the military that are not true). There’s no defense for the “morally retarded” accusations, but I believe that was already in a different thread.

Let’s watch while the libs politicize everything and fail to point out when they say something really dumb, like that the troops are “moral retards.” There was no politicizing going on there – just a shot taken at a couple of idiots who don’t know their heads from their rears. If you don’t want to politicize things, why are you posting on a political blog? I am sure there are lots of Batman comic book blogs out there where you can discuss the latest news from Gotham City in a completely apolitical forum, but if you want to discuss your viewpoint – liberal or conservative – and hear others’ – liberal or conservative – stick around. This is the place to be.

This prose is amazing and I applaud SSgt Dean. That is an amazing talent. In his prose he talks about things that divide us. Let’s not diminish that message by posting devisive things in this thread. This video made me very proud to be an American. I pray that God keeps him (and all the troops) safe. I’m also glad to know that SSgt Dean puts his trust in the Lord.
