Seattle Times news editors cheered Rove resignation news
As a former Seattle Times employee, I’m only surprised that they didn’t dance on the table as well. David Postman blogs:

Seattle Times Executive Editor Dave Boardman wrote today in one of his morning notes to staff that there had been “an awkward moment at yesterday’s news meeting.” That’s the meeting where editors and other staff from throughout the newsroom talk about the stories planned for the next day’s paper. Boardman wrote in “Dave’s Raves (and the occasional rant)”
When word came in of Karl Rove’s resignation, several people in the meeting started cheering. That sort of expression is simply not appropriate for a newsroom.
It sounds like a conservative’s parody of how a news meeting would be run. (MM: Snort.) I wasn’t there, but I’ve talked to several people who were. It was only a couple of people who cheered and they, thankfully, are not among the people who get a say in news play. But obviously news staff shouldn’t be cheering or jeering the day’s news, particularly as Boardman points out, “when we have an outside guest in the room.”
Wonder who that was?

Shocka! I have a feeling that sort of thing happened in quite a few newsrooms.

If that’s what went on at the Times, one can only imagine what went on at the (Dumb-as-a) Post-Intelligencer. More like Times Square in NY on V-E Day. Confetti. “The Kiss”. etc.
Now, if we could just get them to cheer for the idea that women and children (female) are free in Iraq because of the USA…

“Free?” Better take the rose-colored glasses off. Things are better than when Saddam ruled.
But they are not “free.”
Hmmm….Unemployment is down, economy is strong, surge is working, W’s pop #’s are rising. They probably couldn’t help themselves. This is the only “good news” that has come for weeks!
Over at Power Line (http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2007/08/018200.php) yesterday, they note that Bill Plante of CBS bellowed to Bush during the farewell announcement on the South Lawn of the WH, “If he’s so smart, how come you lost Congress?”
When did it become acceptable for members of the press pool to make cat calls during WH events?? It’s one thing for Helen Thomas and others to impose their lberal bias during Q&A sessions, but to just yell out something . . . ??
I’m no great fan of Karl Rove, but that’s not where the buck stops.
I’m utterly shocked… that this event was allowed to be documented.
Well maybe “free” is not the right word (compared to what we have in the good ol’ USA) but compared to where they were, I would use free. My glasses are not rose colored; I would say I am not wearing blinders like most of the MSM. I happen to be proud of the work the USA is doing in Iraq to improve conditions – epically for women.
My point is, where is the cheering for the work our troops are doing for the least of these in Iraq? Shoot, where is the cheering for anything concerning even the smallest of victories? Where is the roaring from the N.O.W.?

If that was Seattle, I suspect at the Gray Lady it looked a lot like activities which have been banned in end zones after touchdowns.
Do you think there will be cheering by the MSM if we get OBL before the election? Let me answer that. Nope. The MSM will spin it as:
We could have had OBL any time. The Bush Administration waited until the elections were near in order to boost the republican hopeful.

Seattle is in a poor condition regarding newspapers; Michelle, you are missed.
The Seattle Times is not the most liberal paper around, but they are bent on destroying the locals by continuously digging dirt (usually unfairly or unfounded) on the great institutions of the PNW such as Boeing, the Univeristy of WA, Starbucks and Microsoft. They even had a reporter get a Pulitzer for a series on the Boeing and the 737 that was filled with errors and outright lies.
The only non-liberal paper in the area recently ceased publication (King County Journal – which included Michelle’s columns), and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer is as bad as any paper anywhere.
Rove is not dead, Rove is not done.
While our President’s term is coming to a close, a new election is on the horizon. With his ability and influence, conservative candidates will be beating down his door.
Let the left celebrate all they want. After a short break, Rove will be leading another candidate down the dusty, musty trail.
The question is not when, but who?
I am curious, does anyone here read print media these days? I mean, other than the links from websites, I haven’t seriously read a newspaper in years.
I do subscribe to the Sunday Compost, but that is only for the ads and bird cage liners:-)
It’d be a tonic for American journalism to just drop the “Don’t try this at home, folks; we’re objective journalists” schtick and adopt the British model of transparent advocacy one way or the other.
I’d have more respect (albeit still not much) for a reporter or editor who wore a Che T-shirt and proudly flaunted his or her leftism than for the current crop who, like Dan Rather, doggedly persist in fostering the illusion that rags like the Seattle Times, the Portland Oregonian or the New York Times are “middle of the road.”
We demand truth-in-advertising from those who sell us products; why not from those who purport to inform us?
Has anyone else noticed that Rove’s resignation goes into effect… a few days prior to the next guess when Fred Thompson will officially declare?
I think they may not be cheering so loudly when they realize Carl is free to advise other Republicans running for President now.Not that I’m a fan of Open Borders Rove, but I’ve gotta laugh.

Our editorial page printed Robert Robb/ Arizona Republic (hey, we live in NC – the state that did not re-elect John Edwards to the Senate). Its title: “The colossal failure of Karl Rove”. The political cartoon is equally absurd. This could get interesting….!
