Rove’s gift basket for the Seattle Times
Remember the fair, objective journalists at the Seattle Times who cheered Karl Rove’s resignation? Via the Media Blog and HA Headlines, here’s news in Howard Kurtz’s WaPo column of Rove’s farewell gift:
In an embarrassment to the industry, some staffers at a Seattle Times news meeting cheered when Rove’s resignation was announced. To his credit, Editor David Boardman made the incident public and warned that staff meetings should not “evolve into a liberal latte klatch.” Rove responded by sending a basket of cookies to the newsroom, with a note saying “my wife shares in your enthusiasm.”
I think a basket of pacifiers would have been more appropriate. How about you?

I wouldn’t change a thing. A back-handed “you think you’re sooooo cute” jab should never be overt.
The cookies and note deminish the reporters sufficiently.
Classy Rove.
Bet they don’t eat a single one out of fear of poison. Even better. Baseless fear is amusing fear!
Hilarious. Shows the kind of man Rove really is as opposed to the evil caricature the left has made him out to be.
Haha I bet they loved that. Probably didnt even eat the cookies.
Moon Pies?
He should have just sent Kool-Aid.
What he did was perfect and showed class and my favorite, humor.
Maybe he could have included one of chimy changas tee-shirts though… u know the one.
Rove is still an idiot when it comes to policy. LOL.
I don’t agree with Roves open borders agenda; but I gotta hand it to him on this one.
I agree. A classy move. Here’s hoping its obvious class, dignity, and good humor made them feel like the insignificant, petty, unprofessional, phony, humorless people that they are.
MOON PIES????
How about COW pies?
Seriously, though, the classy move was the right move.
Class is a conservative trait. The liberals and progressives don’t have it.
I would have sent them a basket of Seattle Times propaganda leaflets and lots of kool-aid!!!!!!!!!
Though I would have sent them a free subscription to a competing mewspaper…
LOL
He is as clever as the liberal masses have made him out to be. No man on earth has
pulled offbeen blamed for as much as he has!Great gift. I have a few to send out now!
newspaper, even
A very nicely framed picture of OWN3D.
I thought Rove killed on Meet the Press. They showed a clip of him on the Nixon campaign staff as a twenty something…he was stylin, let me tell you. Dude was fly. Big ol flop bangs and some sweet specs.
Funny, classy, perfect.
I caught a bit of Rove with David Gregory yesterday on Meet the Press. It was funny to see Rove calmly and convincingly answer Gregory’s questions, which seemed to follow the Chris Matthews’ “are you still beating your wife” format.
Here’s the young Rove lad, at the 4:00 minute mark. Listen to Rather’s commentary as well…already sowing the seeds for vast right wing conspiracy…lol
Of course. Also a trait exhibited by most of my fellow Masonites!
…George Masonites, I mean.
Chocolate chips by Ex-Lax.
I think a few of us cheered too. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
As I’ve seen more of Rove on the news-talk shows lately, I come away each time more and more impressed with the political and historical mind this man has.
He’s been made out to be such a ‘boogeyman’ by the left that until one sees him in these discussions, it’s impossible to know what a clear grasp he has on politics and American political history.
Add that to his obvious ease and manner, it’s easy to see how he achieved the level of success and influence he has.
It’s also easy to understand why the left villifies him as they do – it’s a matter of fear….
Exactly. He has class. Liberals fear what they neither possess nro understand…
It’s also very easy to armchair quarterback Karl Rove. I think many of us forget what an unholy meat grinder the beltway can be. The constant pressure and forces that pull and tug you…I wonder if I could have lasted two weeks in his shoes. Doubt it.
Karl Rove for President!
That’s pretty much what I would have done, the cookie thing…which puts me in darned good company. Be nice to your opponents–it’ll drive ‘em crazy. No matter how hard they try they can’t find fault with it.
I like it.
This goes to show you that Mr. Rove is indeed in the pockets of Big Cookie!
I want some cookies…
There have been precious few times that I 100% agreed with Karl, but he is right on the money with this one.
I wish we could get some youtube on that news room when they read the card.
Halliburton makes cookies? Who knew? :^P
My late father had a very simple philosophy of life … which he truly lived by …
He always said:
“There are 2 ways to tell someone to go to Hell … one way all you will do is make them mad … the other way they will look forward to the trip … so spend your life making them look forward to the trip … ”
Rove’s classy response here reminded me of that.
Thought I would share that with everyone
DL, A wise man he was….
I agree aj
Whatever. Class knows no political affiliation.
Whatever. Class knows no political affiliation.
I disagree – anyone who is honest can see the difference between the serious men and women of the conservative pursuasion working in the US and abroad who correctly understand the momentous challenge facing civilization, and the posturing hypocrites that are mis-labelled “liberals” who are mainly worrying about the next election, and everything else be damned.
I’m honest, and I can see that there are plenty of conservatives who are worrying about the next election… some even more so than liberals.
In remembrance of Al Gore’s 2000 “win”, I’m sure Rove mailed Stole (White) House cookies.
…with a side order of WetWipes and Pampers…
Once again – conservative class, liberal whining
