Geraldo Rivera unhinged

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 1, 2007 09:30 AM

Update 9/9: The idiocy continues.

Update 9/6: Liberal logic. Rivera threatens to spit on me. Ergo, I am the Worst Person in the World.

rivmad.jpg The Boston Globe has a fawning Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous-ish profile of Fox News Channel’s Geraldo Rivera. In between musing about his favorite pair of soft Uggs (”I’ve worn these in Tora Bora and Somalia,” he says, admiring the suede slip-ons with the sheepskin lining. “They’re so comfortable. I love them.”), his “36-foot Hinckley powerboat,” and his massive estates (including “Seagate, the spectacular, 10-bedroom estate he bought several years ago with his fourth wife” and another “Kennedy-esque compound” with his current wife), he spews this:

Rivera, who as a fledgling lawyer in the ’70s counseled the Puerto Rican nationalist group the Young Lords, says he can’t stomach the politicians and pundits who are stoking “anti-immigrant hysteria,” and his antipathy extends to some of his colleagues at Fox.

“Michelle Malkin is the most vile, hateful commentator I’ve ever met in my life,” he says. “She actually believes that neighbors should start snitching out neighbors, and we should be deporting people.

“It’s good she’s in D.C. and I’m in New York,” Rivera sneers. “I’d spit on her if I saw her.”

Ewwww!

Well, I suppose I should be grateful for the warning. Next time I’m up in New York, I’ll be sure to wear one of these:

Who’s the hater? Allah holds up the mirror for the Geraldo-ists.

Flashback: Geraldo “cringes” every time I’m on Fox.

Flashback: Geraldo attacks again.

UNhinged? Has Geraldo ever been hinged? I don’t think so…

He is quite a superficial and despicable human being seemingly incapable of rational thought. Other than that, though, he’s a wonderful fellow.

One key to the character of a person is who their friends and enemies are. To have Geraldo as an enemy says nothing but good about you.

    Such a macho dude.

But let me take a more compassionate tone.

Poor Jerry. His blood sugar is raging out of control. His blood pressure when he is on camera must be over the top as well. Makes for serious stroke out possibilities. He should move to France at once.

5 marriages. Why doesn’t he just convert to Islam and do it up right, by golly.

And what’s with the grade school level sentiment of spitting on people?

Is he part llama? Como te llamas, Geraldo?

I think his displaced rage goes back to getting spanked a little too hard when he was a tyke.

The way he starts to sputter and spout when a conservative political commentator addresses him suggests that perhaps he has internalized a deep envy of those who can keep their corks in place.

It’s safe to say he has dollar and marital issues that have spilled over into his public life. Not to say these should be dwelled upon or offered as some ad hominem critique of his schtick.
But, come on, “I’d spit on her if I saw her” ???

For Geraldon’t, the political has become way too personal.

Countdown to stroke out begins now.

You better believe it GR … and so do a large majority of the rest of us in this country … I am tired of seeing this great country being taken over by people that are not here legally … period … exclamation point … and absolutely no question mark to any of that …

Once again, the basic difference which eludes Geraldo is that MM and others are not against immigrants, they are illegal and criminal immigrants.

GR and his ilk see no distinction. GR is a high-profile example of liberal blinders. He cannot make the distinction between the two.

Perhaps ‘blinders’ is even the wrong word - it’s a pair of racial goggles that only allows the wearer to see an argument, viewpoint or fact along racial lines.

One point in the news recently is a study of how my blacks are incarcerated in proportion to their percentile make-up in our state. The Democratic administration of our Governor wants to study what we, as a society, can do to remedy it.

The remedy is simple, and begins in those minority communities - STOP COMMITING MORE CRIMES.

Such is the simplicity of the illegal immigration problem - ENFORCE THE BORDERS - DEPORT THE CRIMINALS - NO AMNESTY. But the left sees ‘race’ written all over it - and when they don’t see race, they see poverty, and wonder why our country can’t open its arms to those in need.

Yet they conveniently forget how much our country already does so, to the cost of billions of dollars each year to US taxpayers.

As for his spitting comment, it just goes to show what a low-life creature he truly is. MM is an educated, articulate, mother and wife who simply has a different viewpoint and expresses her views not only in print and media, but by vocalizing and mobilizing others to the conservative cause.

It’s amazing to me that he would ’spit’ on Michelle Malkin but has never offered the same hatred towards vocal advocates of our enemies.

    That says a lot.

Geraldo needs to go, or leave him just on his won show if you want. But he should be held accountable for those very hateful words towards Michele. Again, thank you for seeing the light on this important issue. I hope we can work together in the future to stop illegal immigration, something we now both agree must occur.”

When we are strolling down Geraldo’s memory lane, don’t forget the incident that really sealed my opinion of the Mustachio. He decided that he should draw a sand map of the immediate future movements of the 101st Airborne Division on live world-wide TV, while embedded with our Screaming Eagles. Saddam still had a military that was resisting, and an intelligence service monitoring world media for any information they could glean. Did he consider operational security at all? No. He considered his sensationalist, self aggrandizing “reporting” more important than the operational success of one of the most legendary military units in American history. Not to mention the increased risk to the individual soldiers of that unit. He better be glad all that happened was his humiliation by being asked to leave the theater of battle. If Saddam’s forces were more competent, and ours less so, it could have been a disaster for our forces.

    Nice going, Macho Mustachio.

    DL:

I’ve seen this fact thrown around a lot, and I’m very interested in seeing where you get it. When you say “a large majority” are you saying that most Americans want Law Enforcement to verify someone’s immigration status if they assume they are here illegally (thus becoming an inconveinence to people who might match certain assumptions based on how they dress, talk, stand or look)? Or are you just saying that a lot of people in the country wouldn’t mind if everyone had to carry around a “tamper proof biometric ID card” as has been suggested by Rudy Guiliani?

(Interesting people are making fun of GR because of his multiple divorces and convienently look past Guiliani’s personal shortcomings… but I digress)

The latest polls I look at show Americans just want a solution as opposed to the Ann Coulter methodology of just rounding up people. In fact, most people agree with BOR that this is highly unlikely and unreasonable.

NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll conducted by the polling organizations of Peter Hart (D) and Neil Newhouse (R). June 8-11, 2007. N=1,008 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.1.

    Don’t Care 22%
    Unsure 5%

“Regardless of how you feel about it personally, do you think that deporting all illegal immigrants who are currently in the United States back to their native countries is a realistic and achievable goal, or not?”

Unfortunately, in order for this to be a crime, “The Coward” would have to be in the physical presence of MM and then make that statement. The fact that he made it to a 3rd party several hundred miles away makes this statement a non-crime.

I have been in situations where a criminal told me to my face that he would like to kill me, but even that was not a crime. That did not preclude me from eliminating his freedom for other crimes committed in my presence but a person making a threat must be able to carry out that threat for it to be a crime. At least, that’s what I always taught in police academies and that’s the way the courts have always interpreted it.

But, you’re right, there’s no sense in splitting hairs. The real crime is that “The Coward” should keep his mouth shut and give Michelle the respect that she deserves, but I suspect he treats all women this same way.

I know it is 24/7 news cycle and yes there will be filler but there should be less of it. CNN and MSNBC are planning on counter programing for Fox News by running more things like Doc Blocks- canned programing. Christiane’s God’s Warriors got ratings so they think they will go this route. Nevermind that God’s Warriors was panned. Including by me!

I think the old medium- TV, better figure out fast, that the new medium the Internet is going to figure out how to by pass them completely. Viva La Internet. Below is the plan to counter program Fox News.

In both cases, the hippies with the pie and Geraldo at a safe distance so he doesn’t have to follow through with his insult. I would call this Hit and Run. In Geraldo’s case, he is grown man, he doesn’t have any excuse.

I don’t know they should poll Liberals and ask, are manners part of your value system?

Laree #110, you’re right. Many have grabbed the “moral authority” that if the country is not going the direction you believe it should, then you have the authority to sling accusations, sling untruths, call those that oppose you liars, racists, and nativists. Throwing pies and making threats to spit on those that disagree with you is taking a giant step toward something very ugly.

It should also be noted that wearing PPE may be physically burdensome to employees, particularly when the use of PPE is not common practice for the work task.”

    Particle transmission
“Some disease-causing germs travel through the air in particles considerably smaller than droplets. These tiny particles remain suspended in the air for extended periods of time and can travel in air currents. If you breathe in an airborne virus, bacterium or other germ, you may become infected and show signs and symptoms of the disease. Tuberculosis and SARS are two infectious diseases usually spread through the air, in both particle and droplet forms.”

In some states spitting on someone is a chargeable fifth-degree assault offense. And threatening to commit a crime against another person is a terroristic threat. Maybe if Geraldo hadn’t failed out of the Bar he would know this. Hmmm…

I would need to do some searching as you did to respond with the actual numbers … I did not have the numbers off the top of my head which is why I stated it the way I did … but I was sure I recalled the general point correctly … Thanks again

Geraldo, like many of his ilk, put their ethnic group above their country and countrymen. Statistics and reason won’t sway him. More of us need to know and understand all of the costs of mass immigration, legal and illegal, and then VOTE, to win this battle.

I’ld like to meet Geraldo so I could throw a lemon pie in his puss or, even better, give him a knuckle sandwich. What the hell is Roger A at Fox thinking about putting this idiot on the air. It’s unbecoming of Fox. I despise Geraldo !!! He’s one of the biggest jerks on cable TV, right up there with Keith Oberman. Geraldo would fit right in on MSNBC.

If anyone threatened his family of females, unless it’s him, he’d do some serious damage.

FOX keeps him because he’s controversial….plain and simple.

O’Reilly is getting weak in the knees…what’s up with him?

The only TRUE conservatives on the airwaves…regularly…are Michelle, Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, Lou Dobbs, and Glenn Beck in MHO….with Tancredo not far behind.

Imagine that group handling the debates and running our country!

    What a DREAM TEAM huh?!?!?

Gayle #123 #125, I’ve been converted to watching Glenn Beck (No pun intended) out of sheer desperation to get away from the antics of Shep Smith. I watch Lou Dobbs too. Again, out of desperation to get fresh viewpoint and something that’s been more thoroughly investigated than what FOX and their little ribbon are recycling every hour. Used to love Shep, but every time I see him now all I can remember is his meltdown on the bridge in New Orleans aftr Katrina screaming into the camera about “where is FEMA, where are the rescue units.” The bloody idiot was stranded on the bridge himself, with no escape route available.

Hang in there, Michelle, you have won the debate and he is just spitting sour grapes.

Sorry but Lou Dobbs, isn’t a Conservative, he is however what Democrats were before the left was hijacked by radicals.

Long enough ago before Democrats became liberals and communists, the left was an ideology you might vehemently disagree with but when the chips were down (WWII) we all loved, preserved and protected our country together.

Now only the right does, the hijacked left wants totalitarianism because America is bad.

Speakup #129, you’re right about Dobbs, but he has addressed the issue of outsourcing (long before anyone else had the nerve or cajones to do so) and has kept the pressure on about illegal aliens and how both parties have turned a blind eye for different reasons. At least he’s had the nerve to speak up on a cable network when it wasn’t considered by any other to do so. And, no, I don’t always agree with him but he’s kept the pressure up and the ones speaking out now are late to the dance. Worse, some decided to stay home and not address it at all.

I wish. That’s beautiful country up there.

Unfortunately, I retired as a cop in Maryland, about 15 miles up I-95 from D.C. Then we moved to SE FL (hurricance ruined that idea) and have now ended up not too far from Charleston SC where the local cops just arrested the 2 Egytians with the bombs in their trunk.

But, if you hear that “The Coward” is coming your way let me know and I’ll do my best to get there. It’s only a 4 hour flight, give or take.

On the other hand, I am going to NYC in about 8 weeks. Who knows I jight get lucky and bump into him outside of FOX News and “bumping” is something I know how to do.
