Disgraced Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu remained in custody Friday at a Colorado hospital after his arrest days after he failed to show up for a court appearance related to a felony theft conviction.
FBI agents took Hsu into custody late Thursday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., said FBI
spokesman Joseph Schadler.Hsu was listed in fair condition, hospital vice president Dan Prinster said in a telephone interview. He declined to provide details of Hsu’s ailment, other than to say that Hsu “was delirious (when he arrived)
and had identification.”
1:15am Eastern update. The Grand Junction Sentinel reports that Hsu was captured after getting sick on an Amtrak train: “Disgraced Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu was arrested in Grand Junction tonight, after he failed to show up for a court appearance in California related to a felony theft conviction. FBI agents took Hsu into custody around 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital FBI, spokesman Joseph Schadler said in a statement. Hsu was traveling on an Amtrak train when he became ill. Grand Junction paramedics were summoned to the Amtrak station near downtown about 11 a.m. Thursday to treat a patient, Battalion Chief Robert Ferguson said. The patient, whom Ferguson said he found out eight hours later was a fugitive, was not in great pain, Ferguson said.
Maybe “not in great pain,” but he’s gonna be in a world of hurt.

Fugitive political fundraiser Norman Hsu, who skipped out on San Mateo County authorities this week rather than face sentencing in a fraud scheme, was apprehended tonight by federal and local lawmen in Grand Junction, Colo.
Authorities said Hsu was taken into custody at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction at 7 p.m. local time. He had been on the lam for almost two days after failing to appear in a Redwood City courtroom Wednesday to surrender his passport.
Hsu’s attorney told state prosecutors that he had been on a charter flight that arrived at Oakland International Airport at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday and then dropped out of sight, said Gareth Lacy, a spokesman for the state Attorney General’s office.

Federal Election Commission records indicate that Norman Hsu, listed as a resident of New York, gave $1,000 to “Udall for Colorado Inc.” on June 25…”The issue has just been brought to our attention,” Udall campaign manager Mike Melanson said Wednesday evening. He said that once a campaign attorney confirmed that Hsu was listed by authorities as a fugitive from justice, Udall, D-Eldorado Springs, ordered that the money he gave the campaign be given to charity. He said $1,000 will be donated today to the Colorado National Guard Foundation.

Earlier Thursday, spokesmen for Mr. Hsu and the California Attorney General’s Office said they had no clue about his whereabouts. His lawyers declined to comment.
San Fran Bay Area TV station NBC11 has some tidbits:
Hsu was arrested on federal charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, according to an FBI press release. He may appear in court in Colorado Friday, according to NBC11.
The FBI said they will ask for Hsu to be transported back to California.
Allah had the same reaction I did to reports saying that the federal charges of unlawful flight will be dropped when he lands back in California: Huh?

I wasn’t going to go into this, but this whole “Discraced Democratic Fundraiser” line from the MSM is making me crazy. “Disgraced?” “Disgraced?!” The guy was a conviced Felon on the lamb from justice! If he was a Republican fundraiser do you think they would headline the news with “Disgraced?” Of course not. It would read more as the headline should:

This is Chewbacca; it does not make sense. After he skipped his hearing, the prevailing scenario was that he had fled the country, probably back to China. Instead, he’s fleeing to … Chicago? And he gets sick en route, so much so that they have to stop the train.
I wonder if he was not fleeing prosecution, but instead agents of the Chinese government, who wouldn’t want the sources of his finances made public. The timing of his illness is too coincidental. Sounds like it could be poisoning of some sort.
Why take him out of Colorado? They have some wonderful Federal Maximum Security Solitary Confinement Facilities in the state. Great place to let him sit while someone in the DOJ works a deal with him to implicate every Democrat politician on the Chinese Government’s payroll. Instead they will take him back to California drop charges of unlawful flight (still trying to digest that one) and I am sure they will release him on his own recognizance just like they do with criminal illegal invaders confident he will return for his sentencing hearing. From my life long observation of our modern legal system it is broken beyond repair (without a serious shake-up required to ensure real justice for crime victims). I’m still surprised he did not wind up in a public park shot in the back of head several times and the incident being declared a suicide. The Clinton’s are getting sloppy.
