I guess the Dems will start calling this the “Bush letter.”

Elequently written and honorably stated.
This man is all business and no B.S..
It’s too bad our polticians cannot be so honorable, brave and supportive to our fighting men and women.
If they were, perhaps our enemies would be less emboldened to continue.
Most likely, much of the General’s letter is inaccurate. Independent sources have been unable to confirm almost none of the claimed progress. Violence in Baghdad does not seem to have declined. The basis for the claim that “sectarian” violence is down is unknown. The Iraqi army is no more effective than it was last year and the national police force is a shambles.
lgm
You only have to turn on CNN HLN FOX AND MSNBC some of the networks admit the violence is down, some of the networks, grudingly admit the violence in Anbar Province is down, that is progress.
lgm, you better check the spark plugs on you’re kool-aid machine as much of that crap going in you’re pie-hole it’s sure to blow up if not maintained properly. And what independant sources? please enlighten us.
lgm -
Isn’t it time for your medicine?
Why don’t you and Chuck Shumer share prescriptions sometime over a cup of Shut the ____ up?
LGM, you have got to be joking. If not, seek help for that head of yours.

Here LGM. Confirmation for you. Dolt.
LGM – even the DEMS admit there’s military progress – although they now say it has nothing to do with our troops, and everything to do with Iraqi’s themselves.
The liberals can’t get their stories straight – must be a problem with the moon-bat memo distribution.
Great letter. I think I learned more about our progress from that letter than in two months of news-watching. And glad it went to the troops rather than to a press conference.
I found lgm’s independant sources.
Independant source
Damn….aj…
Look at the hair – the forehead…
Looks like Norman Hsu in disguise!
it’s Hsu’s twin Hze’ hsu hze
General Petraeus’ letter is very poignant … it is not only well written it is to the point in all respects both positive and negative regarding the progress being made …
I see it has immediately brought out lgm so I suspect we will shortly see his kool-aid drinking partners sausage and dark knight …
for the last 2 years I have heard the DemoCraps yelling about the Iraqi people standing up for themselves so now that the surge approach has resulted in convincing those in Anbar and Fallujah and a few other areas to do exactly that they have to say it has nothing to do with the surge …
This is no different than those living in gang infested neighborhoods in this country where the people are afraid to go to the police for fear of being attacked by the gangs …
Until the people see enough law enforcement presence to make them feel comfortable enoguh to come forward and report the gang members nothing will change.
That is exactly what has finally happened here … the people finally felt it was safe to turn on the terrorists and they have done just that …
Too bad all our kool-aid drinking libs can’t be objective enough to see that simple fact …
I just realized, AJ…
That can’t be an independent source of confirmation for in-theater military success….
All the clowns are safely in Washington.
My Bad.
Great points Desert.
Besides, dude…. I grew up on Bozo….
I MET Bozo ( the original one – not the replacements or rip-offs )…
Don’t drag him into this
lol
You all I am bookmarking those sources, AJ., I loved Independant Source! Does he have a blog? LOL
Showing you’re age…
u remember sheriff John?
And Cookie, And Wizzo, And Ringmaster Ned….
I also remember Garfield Goose, Ray Rayner…
Ahhh…so long ago.
( I still say that pic is from the feds when they picked up Hsu in Colorado… Remember, they did say he was Delirious )
Bwaa-haa-haa-haa
John Ansell … thanks … the libs always want to classify everything as a law enforecement issue rather than terrorism … so I thought I would give them a little help in expressing it … lol
aj and jrl …
Bozo was ok … but what about Howdy Doody and Captain Kangaroo … lol …
Huh?
Oh, sorry, I thought you were refencing Reid and Durbin for a minute there…
and hobo kelly
I wonder if Hobo Kelly could find “Tommy” in her magic mirror?

Good letter and a sneak peek of what Gen Pretaeus will say to Congress.
I’m afraid he could have written that both the military and governmental initiatives were succeeding beyond our wildest dreams but the Democrats would still find a way to turn a positive into a negative.
The Democrats must have failure on all fronts – Iraq, the economy, and anything else that is good for America — in order to survive politically.
Well, all – I’m outta here for the day.
If I get the chance tonight at home, I’ll check in to see if anything is new.
Have a great one!
I have a feeling all the Dems are busy with shred>ex today.
take care jrl, beware of the loons!
have a good one jrl
A great letter from a great man. I save it and started to email it around. Only the Liberals in the office are blowing it off – go figure.
It didn’t take long (second comment) for a troll to discount Gen. Petraeus’ letter with all of his great trollish information (as he must be on the front line to be able to dispute all claims to any progress).
Don’t feed the trolls – please.
democrat response.
Schumer
It is incredible watching how effortlessly Dems move the goalposts to match their ever-changing and duplicitous rhetoric. It is even more incredible watching the MSM and the ignorant Democratic base eagerly swallow the rhetoric without so much as a twitch.
It’s true that journalists and Democrats do not have the courage to contradict Bush/Petraeus claims of progress, but the specific numerical statistics (75% decline in sectarian violence in Baghdad) all seem to be bogus. There was a Wash Post article on that either today or yesterday.
Ummmm, yeahhhhh, rabid and often unwarranted criticism of Bush and the military by Liberals has been the norm prior to now. All of a sudden, your Liberal buddies lack the “courage” to critique? Convenient.
Try to wrap your head around this: There actually -is- progress, progress that even Liberals have to acknowledge if they are being remotely honest with themselves.
I wish we had that guy in Vietnam,as a commanding officer I mean.
http://iraqsinconvenienttruth.com/
LGM you seemed to have skipped reading this. Progress. You can’t deny it.
BwaaaaHaaaaHaaaa. Only the Washington Post would be a credible source. Get with the program. (sarc to the ‘nth degree)
Cracking me up. Thanks for the Friday laugh!
*holding sides – wiping away tears
My bad soap box. LOL, now I kind of feel like Michael Vick. Giving Truth to the Liberals is like throwing water on a cat. Just soaked that little kitty. Shame on me
No problem John. We all get caught in the troll trap now and again. I stopped feeding them and I am a better man for it – LOL!
If Gen. Petraeus came out tomorrow and said the sun would rise in the east, you could bet your last dollar the moonbats would call him a liar; that Petraeus is just trying to make Bush look good in case it does rise in the east. Then the spin would start:
It all seems to be bogus.
It most likely is not true.
The (insert any liberal rag here) wrote a piece about the sun rising in the west.
Just point and laugh at the troll and move on.
Too bad the General wasn’t in charge a few years ago.
The libs are having a heart attack – what if we won?
Report: Blagojevich aide convicted in 1980s terror case
Last Updated 9/7/2007 10:38:58 AM
CHICAGO — An official in Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s administration was convicted in 1983 and spent almost two years in federal prison for refusing to testify before a federal grand jury investigating a militant Puerto Rican separatist group, according to a published report.
Steven Guerra, 53, is Blagojevich’s deputy chief of staff for community services. He was hired by the Illinois Department of Human Services in 2003.
Twenty years earlier, he was convicted of contempt of court in New York for not testifying in investigations of the Armed Forces of National Liberation, identified by the Spanish acronym FALN, according to a story published Friday in the Chicago Sun-Times.
The separatist group claimed responsibility for over 100 bombings in the U.S. that killed six and injured dozens from 1974 to 1983.
Guerra, who was not charged in any of the group’s attacks, was sentenced to three years in prison and released after serving 23 months in 1986, the newspaper reported.
Guerra has denied being a member of FALN.
But according to a sentencing memo obtained by the newspaper, Guerra was an insider to the group, knew of its workings and advocated violent tactics.
Guerra declined to comment to the Sun-Times. A message left by the Associated Press early Friday was not immediately returned.
According to the memo, based on accusations by admitted FALN member Alfredo Mendez, Guerra advocated “the violent overthrow of the United States government.”
The memo also claimed Guerra attended a gathering in Puerto Rico that was “a meeting of a cross section of terrorists.”
Blagojevich spokeswoman Abby Ottenhoff said Guerra “was never given the opportunity to review the pre-sentencing memo – it was not introduced in the trial – but he strongly denies the hearsay statements attributed to Mr. Mendez.”
She said Guerra disclosed the felony to the Blagojevich administration before he was hired and Blagojevich plans to stand by Guerra.
“If there was really evidence that he had been involved in criminal activity, undoubtedly the federal government would have aggressively pursued charges.” she said. “Instead, he was charged with refusing to testify before a grand jury. He served his sentence.”

Hmmmm. Isn’t it interesting that the troll/coward lgm hasn’t responded to any of our challenges?
LGM, I wouldn’t hold my breath, that is the troll/coward way.
I think it was a fantastic letter and so does hubby who looked at it a few seconds ago.
I expect nothing less from the unpatriotic trolls like Durbin or Schumer or lgm for that matter. It’s sad though that the honor of a man such as the General is impuned constantly by the likes of losers whose patriotism I do question.
Heeeerrrr KItty kitty Kitty. Don’t be afraid of the wa wa.
Terrig, Good post and I agree with you. I DO question their patriotism. They have provided enough proof that the liberals hate America.
If PRO is the opposite of CON, what’s the opposite of PROGRESS?
On September 7th, 2007 at 2:14 pm, lgm
Like most liberals, you are either lying or in denial. Now, I don’t question your patriotism. Why? Because to “question” means that something is in doubt. And I do not believe that there is any doubt that liberals and nearly half the Democrats ARE NOT PATRIOTS.
You stand with bin Laden.
LOL Dandapani.
Ya gotta love this guy. I wish the BRO had him in 68
Let’s be honest, any of us could have written the “Petraeus” report weeks ago. There are no surprises here–it is a political document. But so what?
This is what is necessary to keep the troops there through the spring.
I don’t care if it all has been carefully orchestrated, the fudged numbers do not bother me in the least.
This is war–on a par with WWII in its stakes, and if we’re going to win it, the president needs the authority and the flexibility to do prosecute as he sees fit.
Walter Lippman wisely wrote that in a democracy the “bewildered herd” needs to be channeled by more rational, dispassionate and disinterested leaders. That is the role that the administration is fulfilling right now. As long as these morons in congress can learn to control themselves, we’ll have it won.
Senator and I’m biting my lip saying Senator, Harry “Tommy” Reid is already spewing garbage before he even has a report in his hands. What a loser he is. Go back to Searchlight and look for a clue and the other half of you’re brain.
AJ, Sen. Dick Turbin said far worse things today. Dirty Harry needs to step down.
Cant say I’m sorry I missed that John, what is it with these guys? sheesh.
Oh great, I just copied this off Bill O’Reilly’s site, So much for watching the factor tonight. Sorry, this guy doesn’t qualify in my book.
http://www.sj-r.com/News/stories/15789.asp
Well I can’t confirm it, but this might point to the reason.
lol, that works for my #58 post as well.
Very true Aj.
Thank Goodness there’s pennant races I can watch rather than Germraldo.
I wonder if Bill will bring up the spitting comment.
dont hold you’re breath.
The true story of how Geraldo got his start in the national spotlight comes well before the old news al capone vault story. It happened at a county fair in podunk ca. this was captured vaulting you my say him into the national spotlight and he was hooked. First annual cricket spitting contest winner Gerald Rivera, circa. 1965 before the stash. He’s a professional I suggest an industrial strength shield.
spitting contest winner
Most likely, much of the General’s letter is inaccurate.
Most likely, all of your response is inaccurate.
The democrats could care less about America. And as long as there are millions of people willing to vote them into office for government handouts, there’s not much the rest of us can do about it. They will call the general’s report on progress in Iraq as manipulation and the weak kneed rhinos in the congress will acquiesce. Enough said.
Sadly there are too many lgm’s out there and they will hold their belief system regardless of facts. They are as dangerous to America as the Goose Creek gang, Ramstein 3 or any other’s who move lockstep to undermine or attempt to destroy the last bastion of freedom on the earth.
So… wait a minute. Schumer was wrong?
Guys guys, cut the liberals some slack. They’ve just got a liberal-safe filter installed. Whenever they come across news that’s not to their liking (i.e. progress in Iraq), said filter automatically inserts words “allegedly”, “unconfirmed”, “dubious”, “unlikely”, etc. On the other hand, anything that bashes the US/UK, calls Marines killers, calls Iraq a lost cause gets the green flag and passes through the filter unmodified.
If I were running the show I’d have Gen. Petraeus address the Congress (carried on TV) instead of submitting just a written report that will only be attacked, mangled & filtered by the media and the Dems.
purplepeep
I feel pretty sure the President would prefer that as well … but the Dems pushed through this whole bill with the caveat that although Petraeus reports to Congress the final written (and therefore official) report comes from the President … in other words the RINOs let the DEMs set the President up so that they can brand anything that Petraeus reports as being what he has been directed by the White House to say … thereby letting them ignore the report and continue their unabated BDS BS …
Good morning,
They wont even bother to read it ala’ Voinovich and the Immigration bill, common sense and facts wont change their minds. Their diatribe speeches have already been written with nothing to go on but their own agendas. God help us all, this group of Dems is doing its best to tear the Country apart with their insane blubbering and ineptitude.
insane should be inane but it works.
ajmontana
morning …
ahhh … what’s a consonant here and there amongst friends? … lol
We need a saturday morning funny’s thread to enjoy our coffee with smiles and laughs to unwind from all the “Bullcrap” over the course of a week.
All,
We have an all volunteer military, other countrys have mandatory military service, right off the top of my head Spain and Israel. Imagine countrys, that insist on Service to your Homeland.
If we had mandatory service maybe all the people who critize the Military, would at least have had the experience to know what they are critizing. Imagine instead of 2nd hand and 3rd hand critism, they could have 1st hand knowledge to back up all their anti Military claims. Until then if you are not in or not have not worn a pair of combat boots. I am going to send your anti American Military critisms to the round file.
I don’t know if whatever agreement does/would exclude an address by the General to Congress,DL.
Of course, there are ulterior motives in the idea. First, to stress the deep, historic importance in fighting and winning this war/ Second, it would also be an address “over the heads” of Congress to the American people.
Also, Petraeus may not have a MacArthur or Geo C. Scott-like Patton delivery but it’s good in general (accidental pun) to get a “military face” front and center in wartime.
As a side note, didja know the Constitution doesn’t require the President to give a yearly “State Of The Union” address? It says the President is to give such an address “from time to time”, without specificity. The President can give as few or as many during his term, as he chooses. I think it would be great to rattle their cages unexpectedly every now and then. Kinda “get the whole gang together next week, I’m gonna talk to ya”.
If you guys had a case, you probably would make it. Instead you just make fun of me, which gets zero points in a scored debate. Post some links to data (number of attacks, Iraqi deaths, US soldier deaths, electricity production, Iraqi political reconciliation, etc.) The only link posted had only a bunch of cheer leading, not any actual data.
Even Anbar province seems still to be very violent (too violent for reporters to wander around).
Anbar province? Wasn’t that the province that the President of the United States recently visited?
As for cheerleading, I assume you mean the Iraq’s Inconvenient Truth site? How is that cheerleading? How is that not showing facts?
You are laughable because your points are laughable. You ask for proof, yet when you get proof written by people on the ground it is not good enough because it doesn’t back your particular point of view. If you want us to take you seriously, come back with some hard facts, or at least stuff written by people on the ground before spewing misinformed nonsense. You ask for hard numbers on things like number of attacks, iraqi deaths, infrastructure progress, political progress etc, yet you are unwilling to read the link provided which describes those details. Not in a nice table format, but the data is there.
Seriously, you just don’t like it and call it cheerleading because it doesn’t support your point of view.
As I have said before here. To the “America is the problem for everything in the world crowd” facts do not matter, because that is the premise that they start with. After all according to a scientific poll 25% of Liberals believe the President had something to do with the 9/11 attack. 25%!!!!!
