Rumble in Brussels

I mentioned the “Stop the Islamisation of Europe” protest in my main 9/11 commemoration post. It deserves stand-alone coverage. The demonstrators are putting the “I will not submit” rallying cry into action, and the dhimmis are cracking down on them. Baron Bodissey continues his wall-to-wall coverage.

A reader sends this video from the scene:

The ever-vigilant Brussels Journal has eyewitness reports.

Jim Hoft is tracking the beatdown.

Here’s the BBC report:

Police in the Belgian capital, Brussels, have arrested two far-right political leaders at a protest against the “Islamisation of Europe”.

Police clashed with some of the 200 demonstrators and dozens more people were reported to have been arrested.

The mayor of Brussels had banned the protest, held on the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the US.

Frank Vanhecke and Filip Dewinter of the Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest) party were arrested.

Vlaams Belang has been critical of Muslim immigration to Belgium.

The mayor of Brussels, Freddy Thielemans, banned the protest last month for fear it would cause problems with the city’s immigrant population.

More here.

Where are all the free-speech zealots when you need them?

Marisol at Jihad Watch shreds the mayor’s fear card:

Are they more afraid of the protest, or that certain offended members of the populace might use it as a pretext to stage an attack?

“We support the goals of the demonstration to protest against the lack of freedom of expression in this country,” said Frank Vanhecke, the head of the Flemish Interest Party, before he was bundled off to the police station. “And we also we fully agree that the rise of Islam in Europe poses a risk to our values.”

You’ll note, by the way, that almost every MSM article refers to Vlaams Belang as “far right.”

The open-borders European press and politicians use the same demonization tactics against immigration enforcement proponents abroad as they do here…even as they watch their nations’ sovereignty crumble before their eyes.

Like Toynbee said: “Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.”

Brian Ledbetter ruminates on the degeneration of the West:

There is absolutely no way we will win the war against militant Islam if we continue to believe in nothing. Take Vlaams Belang’s latest outburst in Brussels, for instance:—A political party in Belgium wished to express their deep dissatisfaction with the European Union’s coddling policy towards militant Muslims, in the form of an organised protest in the streets of Belgium, the capital of Brussels.

Following the laws of the West, the jurisdiction of which have been relentlessly extended as a result of our continuing and foolish reliance on “Progressivism,” they applied for a permit to exercise their right to assemble.

Their permit was denied by the mayor, who felt it would be too “inflammatory” to allow them to speak. And, when a handful of Belang supporters tried to do so anyway, they were summarily rounded up and arrested.

So there you have it:—in the heart of the European Union, which is in theory a group of federated nations that believe in the “freedoms” of the West (heck, Christian Europe is the very origination of these freedoms), we are denying our own freedoms—wantonly stifling the debate of our own native citizens, whilst formally resisting any attempt to suppress murderous speech which is spoken against us.

A nation that believes in nothing will always lose to an enemy that believes in something.

Always.

The mayor of Brussels, Freddy Thielemans, banned the protest last month for fear it would cause problems with the city’s immigrant population.

The “immigrant population” always seems to trump legal citizens, no?

The most positive sign is the citizens of European countries are not only demanding action they are voting action. There may be hope for European nations but the window of peaceful opportunity is fast closing. I would not be surprised at violent action against Muslims within the next few years by otherwise passive people who have yet to recognize the danger of their socialistic welfare systems.

Europe is a powderkeg waiting to blow. ( I note that the Swiss are also beginning to take aggressive action against Islamic immigrants and, as one might expect, their politicians are being branded by racists in the EU and UN.)

Let me look and I’ll post back if I find it.

Make no mistake about it - before the radicals destroy all liberals hold dear (abortion, gay rights, feminism) their first victims will be Christians because we will fight this madness.

Watching that video doesn’t give me much hope for the future of Europe. I can’t help but feel that perhaps it’s too late and Europe’s consignment to the dustbin of history is all but inevitable. No doubt their chance of survival would be far stronger if they had a 1st amendment combined with a 2nd to ensure that the 1st means more than merely archaic words on display in a museum somewhere.

But what really astounds me more than the decline and fall of Europe is that so many conservatives here in America seem gung-ho to vote for Rudy Giuliani, and thus against our 2nd amendment, simply because they think he might have the best chance against Hillary. The 2nd amendment is a requirement for the continuation of our freedom and liberty, and this is more than just meaningless rhetoric. Just look at what’s going on in Europe.

Hopefully A LONG OVERDUE Wakeup Call to Illegal Immigration Here

It’s gratifying to see at least some Europeans have had a hard hot whiff of java of how their culture is being subtly undermined and diluted, and I suspect many of them, especially the French and Danes, assumed throwing open arms to unchecked immigration was a sign of peace and compassion. Much like those here who swear the invasion from below the Rio Grande will somehow ‘enhance’ and ‘fortify’ the U.S.’s ‘melting pot’ like previous group. Hello! When you go down to Mexico City and points south, you’ll find Italian and German and French restaurants and such, but that’s as far as their concept of a ‘melting pot’ goes — and they make _no bones_ about wanting to import that idea here. If you really give a damn about the distinctiveness of American culture then what’s happening in Europe is a vitally needed heads-up to taking hard and yes, dispassionate immediate action before the point of no return like MASSIVE deportation — and I don’t just mean criminals (i.e. “anchor babies” and relatives too!). This country’s culture is our timidity and stupidity to lose, as they’re belatedly waking up to across the pond.

I was mistaken about the Iran story - my source question the truth of the article he posted so he deleted it.

However, it was reiterated to me that museums in Europe are beginning to ship works to America and catalog the things that cannot be moved for the fear such things will be destroyed if Europe becomes Islamic - which, by all accounts, seems to be happening.

Guess I won’t be taking that European vacation when I graduate with my Masters’. Such a pity, as I always wanted to visit the UK.

America is great because of our exception to socialist rule not because of it.

But it’s funny how the very same people who claim to be so progressive and forward-thinking are the same ones continually mired in trying to bring back policies and forms of government that have failed throughout history?

Makes you question just how modern they really are.
